And I agree, German accents are woefully missing in DA and ME........... What would be even better is if they actually spoke in German even though I wouldn't understand them :P

DA2's Cassandra has a German accent. She's from Nevarra.

Alistair may not be one of my favourite characters, but I thought someone here might like it.

Well, she's not a man :P And WOW....  she doesn't sound German to me, it sounds more like a sharp French accent :o:blush:
And that pic is epic :o

Hey, fellow Kaidanites! Someone had posted a modified picture of the Kaidan/Sheploo/Liara ME3 pic with a FemShep instead of Sheploo. I set it as my desktop wallpaper, but it somehow disappeared. I can't find it again, can someone re-post it for me if they have it? Thanks!

 You know, I played so much Dragon Age that I couldnt even tell Varric was American. On my 4th or 5th playthrough, I was like "Have dwarves always had American accents?":blink:

I'm so bad at recognizing accents. I can usually only identify them when they're blatantly obvious, like Ken, Miranda, Alistair, Zevran, etc. A lot of others just sound "normal"... I guess they'd be American?

So this. I can tell when someone speaks in British versus American English. Other than that, I wouldn't even notice if someone's from South England, Wales,Ireland, or from South America or Hawaii. But I'm from Poland so don't blame me :blush: Though I would totally recognize mama Jenova's accent :police:

Sometimes particular english accents don't register with me either

For the longest time, Alistair's voice sounded "normal" to me. Sorta like, I knew he had an english accent, but I was so used to it it just didn't faze me the same way unless I reeaaally thought about it.

I guess that just comes from living in the country? I can identify several different American dialects, but when some of my PSN friends started discussing the difference between a South London and Liverpool accent, I was clueless. I guess it makes sense that all countries would have different dialects, I just never gave it much thought.

Ugh, replaying ME2, and I'm on Horizon. Even though I've rationalized this part out in my head, I still don't like it.

Jennifer Hale actually sounds more southern to me. I can especially hear it when FemShep is talking to Kelly about Kaidan, with the way she says "goodbye." ------>Video
Which makes sense, because apparently she grew up in the south. I didn't find out about that until later.

Which is funny, since Meghan Shepard's from Houston, Texas (as am I), and when she's upset or emotional, her accent slips.

Good to know I wasn't hearing things when I thought that up.  :lol:

I love the Texan accent :D Even mentioned it in an earlier post :lol:

I think I'm missing something, but I can't hear the Texan accent :huh: I thought Jennifer Hale was Canadian?

@LadyofRivendell
From wikipedia:

Hale was born in Canada to parents who are originally from Birmingham, Alabama.She grew up in the United States, attending the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham.

Hence her slight southern accent.

@Sialater
Awww. Did she intentionally try to change her accent or did it just slip from her over the years?
I know many people have intentionally changed their accent because they didn't like it. One of my boyfriend's professors is from New York, and then we he went to uni, realized he was talking "like a ******" (his words, not mine! I love NY accents.) so he changed it, and now sometimes pronounces everything to the point of being a ****** about it.

Anyway! What I meant to say is I started reading "Loved" and I really like it so far. I read Persephone Rising first and decided that I liked Meghan Shepard and wanted to read more things from her point of view! :D

Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINERALICA!!!!!!!!!

I can hear differences in English accents but I couldn't tell you which accent came from which region. I might be able to tell someone is from Liverpool and possibly Estuary English because of David Tennant as the Doctor and Matt Smith's real accent.

Accents... ;_; I've always wished that my boyfriend still retained his Irish accent (I already can easily hear him talk just by standing next to him, his voice is that deep.)

:o I danced with people from ASFA and spent many summers in Birmingham at dance camps at Birmingham Southern College. How cool I had the same stomping grounds as one of my favorite voice actors. The world really is quite small.

I'm currently playing an unromanced Shepard to see if it makes any difference in ME3 with Kaidan (I used Genesis) and it was so sad when I saw him on Horizon when I was playing last night.....and he just shook my Shep's hand. :crying: I didn't realize how important that hug was until I didn't get it, and now I will also have no email to read 700 times either. Sad panda is sad.

A quick question for any Jacob romancers: Does he ever stop telling you to ****** off when you try to talk to him? I was thinking of giving him a go for once, but man, that is just so offputting to me. I already did his loyalty mission and everything. I just don't understand his character, I guess. *is mystified*

I know! I'm in  love with him so I know.... That's why I said "David Tennant as the Doctor." :P I think he was the first Doctor to speak Estuary English and Matt Smith is the first Doctor to actually speak Estuary English as his natural accent.

I don't know about Kaidan's accent though. Isn't Raphael Sbarge from New York? I don't know how much he changed his voice to be Kaidan...

I remember watching repeats with William Hartnell and I remember Patrick Troughton as the Dr, both of whom speak English that people would think of as very English, English accents and both from from the south :) This was the common sound of English being spoken when I was a child and the one encouraged by my mother that we should speak :) Being from Nottinghamshire this often meant my mum had people saying that my sister and ''speak posh, don't they'' (we don't........ we just sound English, lol) Anyway, my point about him being Scottish as an English person is that you can sometimes tell he isn't English (imo:P I perhaps should have clarified, lol...

And yes, I think he is from a theatrical family in NYC, isn't he..?  I don't know about changing his voice, because he does sound like himself, but I wouldn't claim to know enough about Amreican accents to say that he was recognisably a New Yorker, I mean there are dialects within dialects in NY, right? Kaidan seems to my ear (not being from the USA) to sound (as I sound generically English) generically American, but I could be WAY off :o

Raphael Sbarge is from NYC and I dated a guy from NY. I do hear his NY accent at times but he also lives in LA with his wife and kids. He sounds normal to me cause I'm West Coast but I do hear that NY accent slip in from time to time.

Some English accents sound normal to me but a few certain words I hear a accent and some English accents are very strong. I love those!!! In the US the accent I hear is Southern, Texan, NY, (Boston, MA, Chicago, IL only certain words), and even the middle states have their own. I'm use to Spanish accents and can even do one cause a lot of Hispanics are from Mexico and they are mostly on the West Coast. Everything here is English/Spanish.
