The way they had Horizon set up, and then not being able to reply to the email, made me feel like I was being encouraged to forget about Kaidan and go for one of the ME2 LIs. <_<

The whole thing was a big fat setup! Then BW was like ummm 70% of people were unfaithful, horrible, mean people:pinched:
Ha ha ha suckers!!! Now go play ME1 and ME2 again bwhahaha<_<

I'm just curious - don't answer if you don't want to! - how many people on their first (presumably unspoiled) playthrough stayed with Kaidan?  No negative points for not - gaming is for fun and whatever someone does in their game for fun is fine by me.  And I agree completely that Horizon was set up to make you feel like "Oh, I'm dumped.  Party time!"

I personally stayed with him on the first playthrough because that picture on Shep's desk made me all squishy inside.  I didn't even consider the other possibilities that time around.  Since then I've tried the Garrus and Thane romances, but can't bring myself to do the Jacob one because I can't get past Shep's sexual-harrassment-lawsuit-waiting-to-happen voice.  Makes me cringe and reload my game.  But with how the other romances are done, I have to say that staying faithful to an LI that is little more than a picture and an e-mail in ME2 is the best, most romantic route.

I'm probably going to have to do as many of you have done to get an unromanced Shep - just load Genesis.  No way I can get through ME1 without falling for Kaidan yet again.

My canon, first playthrough of ME2 stayed with Kaidan. I played ME2 right after finishing ME1 (late bloomer, I know) and so my Shep was still in love with Kaidan. I imagine I would have been more likely to romance someone else if there was a big break between ME1 and ME2. But right afterwards, when everything from my very first playthrough ME1 was so fresh and exciting....no way was I thinking of anyone else besides Kaidan for my Shepard.
Only during my second playthough of ME2 with my canon Shep did I start to like Thane. And I was like OH NO. So I had to make another Shepard for him exclusively.

I like Kaidan's beret/hat/whatever as well, but I don't know that it necessarily fits him. If it's the real deal, I  wouldn't like him to wear it all the time though. Maybe just the first time Shepard sees him, so he's all 1940's soldier and my Shepard can swooooooooon. "Oooooh Mister Alenko."

My Shep has only ever stayed loyal to Kaidan. It was very difficult during the first playthrough, with the feeling of rejection (before getting the conciliatory email) and Garrus and Thane being intriguingly sexy, but I had resolved to be loyal before I started playing and nothing was going to make me change my mind. I'm glad that's the path I've chosen. :-)

I knew going into ME2 that my main Shepard would stay loyal. It took me forever to get the paramour achievement because I did several playthroughs with my main and she would never move on after Kaidan. At least so soon afterwards.

I have four Shepards and counting. Only Zody Shepard is with Kaidan and she will remain loyal to him until the day she dies. The others I either managed to make it through ME1 without romancing Kaidan or used a save editor to delete out the romance. Going through ME1 is so hard, not because of the so called ninja-mance, but more because when he smiles at Shepard in the medbay after Eden Prime I melt every damn time. I'm so weak!!

EDIT: Also I feel the need to point out that Zody was made for Kaidan. I had played ME1 several times and had romanced Kaidan before but I wanted to make a special Shepard just for him. I wanted her to be beautiful and elegant and most importantly a fellow biotic.

I have a feeling that I am facing a tough decision in ME3. I thought ME1 was the last I was going to see of Kaidan, so I romanced Garrus in ME2... now I probably will have to make a choice between the two of them :/
Will probably choose Kaidan though... or... I don't know!

I made a Test!Shepard to do a non-imported run of ME2 first, just to see the other LIs and what happens in ME2. Then I went through on my canon!Shep and stayed faithful to Kaidan. I *probably* would have stayed faithful even if I hadn't used Test!Shepard first, I do like Thane, but I like Kaidan more.

I haven't done a "cheating" playthrough yet. I can't bring myself to have Shepard leave Kaidan, I refuse to romance Liara, and my Male!Shep romances Ashley, but then leaves her on Virmire because I can't *not* save Kaidan. I guess that's what YouTube is for.

I have one playthrough where Kaidan is dead. Its almost surreal hearing Jacob ask Shepard why Kaidan was left behind or hearing about the Alenko Memorial Fund. But she is my 'what's this button do?' playthrough. Almost everything I have never done in ME1 or ME2 I did with her just to see the difference. But a galaxy without Kaidan is a dark gloomy galaxy indeed.

This. I always play single mSheps (waiting for Kaidan thehe), but I made one FemShep who romanced Kaidan in ME1 and then Thane & Jacob in ME2 (thanks to the bug that allows it) just to see how it feels like playing FemShep, actually romance Kaidan (since I never made mShep in drag) and then see how ME2 romances look like, plus bunch of other stuff like saving the Council etc. Not even sure if I still have her save, it's crappy anyway, I was skipping all the side stuff just to go quickly and see different scenarios.

My canon Shepard remained faithful to Kaidan and will for the entire trilogy. Funny, because when I started her she was going to be single for an ME2 romance but then Kaidan's smile in the med bay happened. (I was all kinds of spoiled with the story and romance since I just started these games during the last half of the summer) She was my third ME1 play through, I took my second one through ME2 first to get a feel for the game so I wouldn't inadvertently ruin my canon story. She "cheated" with Thane because I wanted to see how that would play out and I knew I wouldn't be able to do it with my canon. I also have a spare FemShep and mShep waiting around Eden Prime for possible Kaidan romances that would begin in ME3.

That is kind of what my friend did. He wants a Kaidan-mance so badly on his male Shepard. I told him to make a FemShep. He did but he made her so damn mean. He eventually stopped playing her. I joked with him that he couldn't handle being a woman. :P

So of my femSheps I've got three Kaidan-faithfuls (though one got the Samara shutdown, not sure if that'll have any effect), and one who cheated with Thane. Of my manSheps, two were single through ME1 and now are with Jack, the other is Ashley-faithful (because I love Ash too, and romancing her was the only way I could make myself leave Kaidan on Virmire :crying:).

Annndd I just started another femShep. D'oh! I need to stop. NoonetellmeIneedasinglemanShepincaseKaidanisS/SinME3.

Staying faithful was really easy for me, because I didn't care for the way FemShep initiated any of the ME2 romances, and while the characters were cool, I didn't feel the same sort of draw towards any of them. It's pretty funny that I enjoyed romancing all possibilities in DA:O, and almost all of them in DA2, but all of my characters I care about are Kaidan-sexual in Mass Effect 1 & 2.

I have no idea how things will go between Shepard and Kaidan in ME3, but I think that if Shepard doesn't get a happy ending with him, I'll do what my kid did the first time he saw Revenge of the Sith, when he saw Anakin draw his lightsaber on the children; turn it off, walk away, and just silently RAGE.

>.>....I failed. With Kat Shepard (my sorta canon femshep) she could not resist the man in the armory and his magical abs and his "Win....lose...doens't matter...I love you" nd eventually she became a JAcob exclusive, but I cloned my canon Shep Kallen again and she stays with Kaidan as I had her avoid JAcob like the plague untili figured out how to get the brohug from him.Posted Image

I wan't faithful my first round. I took the letter as a breakup letter,  "But a lot has changed in the last two years and I can't just put that aside." I really didn't get what that meant the first time I played. Plus the release of ME2 was pretty long for me. I then meet Thane and went O.o

I do have a faithful Shep and I do have one just for Thane

On another note something is wrong with my Arrival dlc now. It won't let me play it. I get to the Object Rho hitting her with the vision then a not clean disk or restart your xbox message. Now I'm worried about my Shep not having an arrival playthrough.

I stayed faithful on my 1st playthrough, but still technically cheated LOL. What I did was play the whole game through to the end....waiting for Kaidan to come back. Of course he doesn't. *sadface* So, after I completed the SM, I backloaded and chatted up each potential LI one at a time until I had experienced all the love scenes. After sating my curiosity and not finding a romance that tempted me in the slightest to forsake Kaidan, I stayed with my faithful save.

I only recently (within the last couple of months) played a cheating Shepard with Thane just to see if cheating makes a difference (and I also adore Thane...the Shadow Broker letter hurt my heart!). I was pleasantly surprised to discover the little couch and bed cuddles you can have with your LI in ME2 after the SM. I thought that was a nice touch.

Based on reading Jenova's experience and opinion, I just finished romancing Jacob a few days ago with a Genesis created single Shepard. I was surprised to find that I liked it more than I thought I would. He's quite a nice guy after you get past his early brush-offs, and that particular Shepard is very happy with him as her man.

The only romance I can't bring myself to do for real is Garrus. He is like a brother to every one of my Shepards and I would feel like squicky incest if I tried to romance him. I know many others absolutely adore his romance and considering how loyal and committed he is to Shepard I can see how satisfying that would be.

So, with all my Shepards through both games, I've only ever romanced Kaidan, Thane and Jacob. :D

My problem was always that I never felt angry at Kaidan after Horizon, which I think is what the writers intended, so I didn't want to move on. The fact that Thane starts calling you Siha even if you don't take the romance lines got to me, so that's why I have one Shep with him. I like when characters express interest without me having to be the initiator.

And yeah, I better get my happy Kaidan ending. I shall have seething inner rage likely mixed with pathetic sobs. I'll do whatever I have to in order to keep him safe.

^^^^This plus the Siha:wub:. Everyone was calling me a terrorist and a traitor while he was calling me an angel. Plus I couldn't start a romance with a dying man just to leave him. I could never do that:innocent: I'm prepared to be crying if/when he dies in ME3.
There is something very special about Kaidan though to me. He just has this stability and calmness that I need so much. We both are military and we both have been through so much in both of our lives. Plus their is that natural attraction. So the triangle is probably gonna tear me apart. I might not be able to even finish it. I think the first time I see him really hurt over what I've done I will probably say OMG I can't continue this playthrough.:crying:

Same. My first playthrough my Shepard was depressed and bewildered, and clinging to hope that she would see him again soon. On subsequent playthroughs my Shepards were just depressed, and grimly determined to get the job done as quickly as possible. I was never particularly angry, just hurt and sad.

A happy Kaidan ending must happen....and I'm pretty free with my interpretation of happy. The entire galaxy can burn....as long as Kaidan and Shepard can survive and run away together. :innocent:

Arg, I couldn't bring myself to cheat on Kaidan in ME2. Not only did I not want to (only have one Canon Shep) but none of them really appealed to me. ME1 seemed to have very romantic, forbidden romance whereas ME2 could seem...very much otherwise at times. Not to say that I didn't like them completely, they just kind of seemed a whole 'nother sort of romance compared to ME1.

Waiting for Kaidan. :lol::P

My poor Sheps just wanted to chase after him yelling, "Take me with you!" Stupid Cerberus railroading. And then they were annoyed that Kelly was the only person they could actually express their sadness to. (Seriously, Joker knows about the whole affair and the only options you get are two "meh, whatever"s and "rargh!")

I adore Thane. His personality is so lovely to me. It's the only thing that allowed me to get past the different race since I really prefer humans. :P

If it weren't for Kaidan, I would be all over Thane, all the time. For a non-human, I really do think he's quite attractive. And yes, the personality... sigh. Alright, may need to do another Thane romancer now.

Yep, same. While Reapers pillage, Shep and Kaidan discover the secret to true intergalatic travel (it's the hairbump!) and find a new planet to colonize in another galaxy.

Edit: Another ToP? *Scrambles* Ok, hairbump relevancy and humor:
