I really doubt that Kaidan will be a mandatory death in ME3. I think several someones (sorry, don't recall who exactly) up thread stated they believe that this may have been the recording for the confirmed worst ending in Mass Effect 3, in which [not sure if this would be considered a spoiler or not, since it's pretty obvious what the worst case scenario would be].

I completely agree with that. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that Kaidan and/or Shepard can die at the end, and that they can also both survive. I would be absolutely amazed (and damned disappointed) if the plot is structured so that Kaidan always dies.

ETA: If there is a bad ending in which they both die, I will totally create a separate save and play that, just to cry my eyes out at Hale and Sbarge's amazing voice acting!

I’m going with the assumption that Sbarge was talking about the worst case scenario as well and will keep believing that we’ll be able to keep both Shepard and Kaidan alive for the ending of ME3. I want my sunshine and bunnies ending, Shepard has been through enough already.
 
I would most likely have to play the worst case scenario as well though just once to see how it plays out.

Don't sweat it. Kaidan says he "looks forward to the missions ahead" and knows there's "a galaxy to save" and "places to go." Knowing all this, there's no way he'll be 'signing off' anytime soon, right?

Nahhhh, that's just Raphael Sbarge giving fans a quick message. So so so incredibly nice of him. But not canon at all.  Also, someone else said earlier that it seemed like the message could be between ME2 and ME3. I like that.

I'm trying not to get worked up over who is going to die and what's going to happen to Shepard. I feel like reaper tech Shepard is possible but I have a feeling that depends on how renegade Shepard is. Because you know, in ME2 if you're Paragon, the scars and cybernetics kind of disappear but with Renegade you have those lovely  glowing red scars and eyes. I don't know. Don't quote me on that. I don't know if BioWare would go that different of a route just for Renegade. I've never played Dark side of KOTOR so I have no way to compare endings.

I'm just going to wait patiently *grits teeth* until March. Try not to stress myself out. I'm sure ME3 will be wonderful no matter what.

Isn't Hugo Weaving in the Matrix? Aside from that and running on walls, I know nothing of the movies. Oh, wait, sunglasses, trenchcoats, and matrices, too.

And I think Renegade Shep eventually turns into the Terminator, hence the creepy scars and eyes. But I have strong faith that BW would not turn Shep into a Reaper at the end. That's so over the top cliche, especially for a developer with some of the best writers I've ever seen in video games, that I'd wonder what kind of cruel joke this was.

I still think that the dialogue could be the "goodbye" speech before the last mission.

I am too hoping for a happy ending, I love my heart break romances but I need a good for ME. I just hope the choices for the good ending aren't too obvious but not too hidden.

I love it that he likes Kaidan so much. VAs can't always appreciate the characters they have to do and I'm glad he does.

I second that. Final A Level exams here are in May for all my subjects and it looks like I'm going to have to rush ME3 to get through my revision. 

Or just punch my brother in the gut and stay in my room with the Xbox without food, water or human contact until I'm finished.
