A funny parody poster followed by a bunch of nonsensical gender wanking.

Drag queens, wussy boys and transvestites. That's how some people see Kaidan.

/facepalm

no

some people see Kaidan as masculine enough without having to prove his masculinity and some people can take a joke, without feeling threatened by it.

I don't post pictures of Kaidan in drag and I don't enjoy watching them.

Funny how you have this "Kaidan for s/s LI" signature but cry about seeing him in drag and make remarks about transvestites.

Most humour is based on incongruity. Many of us find it funny to juxtapose Kaidan with unKaidanish things. It's not something you need to go on a crusade against; it's just a joke. If you don't find that funny, please share something that you do find funny or some other thing related to Kaidan.

Funny how you think all homosexuals are transvestites. FYI, they're not.

Hehe, I see we can already understand each other almost without words  No I don't feel like arguing today ^_^ Lemme just say (on the currect topic of Kaidan in dresses pics) that as much as Drinking Shep is overreacting, one may wonder what exactly is the motive behind the recent influx of "let's draw Kaidan in female clothes/role" pictures. I've seen at least 4 different drawings of Kaidan in Ashley's new ME3 catsuit. It does start to feel like people are doing it as a some sort of a 'payback' for Ashley getting sexualized in ME3 and not really as a "look, men can be in damsel-in-distress role too and it doesn't make them less masculine!" statement.

I say everyone calm down because the 'defending' side here acted childish as well, with reposting that image over and over again and attacking with out-of-nowhere "ohh so you're against strong women!?" rebrutals. The truth is, we are all submiting to 'gender rules' to some degree but also want these rules to not be used to ridicule anyone (both us and Kaidan). So please, calm down folks :)

I think the point, which you so gallantly missed, was that for being someone who touts a signature which basically calls for inclusiveness, you are behaving rather flippantly regarding trans matters.
That is all.

As for the Kaidan-with-hips-cocked drawing, I thought it fairly obvious that it is a tongue-in-cheek piece meant to point out the incongruity of putting a hardened soldier in such overtly 'feminine' poses.
Kaidan, due to his filling the overall same role as Ashley (and vice versa) is perceived as the male equivalent, and is therefore the most obvious subject for the knowingly humorous deconstructions of Ashley's new portrayal.

Okay i'll bite
Did i say "all homosexuals are transvestites"? No i didn't
I just find it strange that, while supporting gay romance in Mass Effect, you're making these kinds of prejudiced statements.

I feel like this thread a long with the Tali thread has a cliquish vibe to it.

Its strange cause how did this happen? This whole culture around Kaidan just popped up after me2. It really wasnt here before. Before it was so lonely now its just all of this..

It happens to every fandom, unfortunately. Whenever there are differing opinions, there's bound to be fighting.

Sounds sad, but everyone got along when everyone was upset about ME2. I don't know what happened :/

Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. Have a silly Kaidan / Shepard picture that I made for the Wrex's Tea Party thread.

ah  /nods.  well, to be fair, the first thing I thought when I saw that poster was: "omg, army of darkenss, that is hillarious".  being a fan of Ashley, Kaidan AND the movie  (to the point of sitting in a splatter zone for a "Evil dead, the musical" and having a picture taken with an actor who played Ash as well as quoting the movie incesantly)  gender issues and possibility of it being some sort of dig at Kaidan were the last thing on my mind.

the "look, men can be in damsel-in-distress role too and it doesn't make them less masculine!" idea came later, when people started to take that poster seriously >_>  because I don't see how jokes made by the fans, with love have anything to do with character representation or gender roles.

either way, I thought it was an awesome, tongue in cheek piece of fanart and I'm glad FyreEye had it comissioned.

...I'm dreadfully sorry. Posting from my phone and it doesn't let me edit my posts for some reason. Hopefully this image link will work properly.

Anyway, as fandoms go, we've been information-starved for quite some time and won't always be at our best. What's important is that we pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off once we realise we haven't been at our best.
