I agree with you noxpanda. I fear this sudden change to the character will only lead to people abusing him more than they already do.

^This: To me, above anything else Kaidan is an awesome marine no matter how they change him.

I am fan too of Kaidan, I hope if Kaidan is bi, her personality don't change with my women shep

I don't want, the devs say Kaidan is change before horizon when shepardette she was not live for him.

I hope they don't do the same romance with Ander in dragon age 2.

I am ok for the diversity, but not for change the scenario because I know femm girls like Kaidan and if his personnality change, it's not cool for the fans

I wait and see for the evolution of Kaidan in mars 2012 and wait the answer of devs Bioware for the romance

The bolded bit is what concerns me the most. I really, really hope the ME team aren't going to steal the DA teams magical 'make everyone bi' wand :wizard:. I have no issues with bisexual characters i just have issues with everyone suddenly being bisexual. To me it cheapens the conversations when they are gender neutral and gives me less reason to want to play through again. To be honest i'd like there to be straight options, one or two bi options and some gay options. It kinda saddens me that neither ME or DA had a gay character, the closest is always bi. Come on bioware, gimme a delicious guy that my female characters can't have, give me a reason to roll a tasty male character!

In my head Kaidan will always be straight, due to how he talks to femshep. I've never played a manshep in ME1 though, so i have no idea how those convos go. If they do decide to suddenly change his sexuality i'd like them to add a minor patch to ME1 and 2 to change his gender specific lines. I hate it when they ignore the past convos (ala anders). Its just lazy in my book. I hope they don't pick Kaidan to be bi because everyone deemed him to be 'whiny' in the first game, so taaa-daa now hes magically slightly more interesting. It will be interesting to see what happens...

I agree with the bolded, I would not want everyone being open for s/s. There has to be some limit I think. As I've said before Kaidan in my games will always be straight so if he's a s/s in someone's else game it doesn't concern me whatsoever B)

I just think that even if Kaidan is opened up for s/s he's still straight in my mind. As he is bi for other's. I never play ManShep...neverrrrrrr :P

It'll be weird if Kaidan suddenly announces he's interested in men too but how it was handled in DA2 with Anders really annoyed me.

If you're a LadyHawke that Karl is more than a friend isn't even alluded to. I didn't mind that Anders was bi, in fact it fits with the impression I had of him in Awakenings, but the fact its utterly ignored lessens the character. If he's bi then he should be bi whether you're play a male or a female Hawke.

Reeling my neck in slightly; it's different with Kaidan and Ashley. Making them bi is a retcon so ignoring the sudden switch from straight to interested in both sexes would probably be the best way to deal with it.

I hope the dialogue isn't generic to fit either Shep I've had my fill of BW laziness with DA2.

This is generally speaking how I feel about the s/s issue with Kaidan. In my head, and my play through's, he will always be straight. So I completely am not bothered and do not mind at all that in somone elses playthrough he will be bi/gay.

As far as I concerned its like an alternate universe thing. In my universe he's straight because that's what I want but in someone else's universe he's gay/bi because that is what they want.

As other's have said I doubt very much that BW will force a 'btw i also fancy men' conversation on to a FemShep, there's no reason for them to do that and it would make as much sense as a bi Kaidan saying to a MaleShep 'btw I fancy women as well, just so you know'.

I only have one playthrough with a MaleShep that has Kaidan in, and when/if I am given flirting dialog options with Kaidan on that playthrough in ME3 I will simply not take them and that Kaidan won't be gay either - in my head. I think it's just about being able to compartmentalize (sp?) it. I feel that some of the people who are rly angry about s/s don't seem able to do this.

I just don't want Kaidan to be open for new relationships regardless of the gender.  This isn't because I wouldn't want to see a new way to romance him.  I just know that resources for BioWare to invest in a side quest like romances is limited.  To add new dialogue for new romances would cut into the budget.  I want a good, solid, romantic, satisfying and happy continuation of the romance that Shepard has had with him since ME1.

If Kaidan is made an option for a pre-existing romance for the comics in ME2 and ME3, that would be fine with me.  It would give me another reason to play through as an mShep.  Ideally what what I'd like to see happen would be for there to be a patch/DLC for ME1 so that Kaidan can be a choice for either gender.

And no.  I don't feel it necessary for any of the established characters to come out and declare that they are bisexual.  It would be unnecessary--particularly for a quiet and private man like Kaidan.  It would be too OOC.  He would be devoted to whomever he was in love with.

BTW as a shameless plug, I've added a journal entry to my Shepard Chronicles today.

Thinking about the comic etc, say they include ME1/2 decisions I'm guessing that they will open up the romance from ME1>3.

Kaidan is already competing wth Ashley due to budget etc as well.

If just posting our opinions of whether same sex romances should be in the game, could we please take it to the For the Love thread?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on the topic, but it's just creating ill will and causing people to flee the thread because of conflict. I would rather see this thread die for a while, until we have new information about ME3, than have it just be a place for constant bickering over something we have no control over. If Kaidan is confirmed to be a same sex romance option by the devs, then we can talk about how it will affect his role. Until then, we're just rolling over the same talking points again and again.

Here, have a Kaidan, and let's all be buddies:

BioWare already confirmed not everyone will be bi so I don't get why are you even speculation it. It's not going to happen. No DA2 "everyone's bi" non-realism. Nada.

I wasn't stating it as a fact or anything, no need to be like that  maybe I phrased it wrong, if so I'm sorry.

Just Kaidan isn't in everyone's games such as Ashley (I like both of their characters btw)

what I mean is I'm hoping they are going to do it just like Bethany/Carver in DA2 (which they more than likely are):wizard:

One thing I'm curious about is how Kaidan and Shep work together. Kaidan has seniority and is a Spectre in his own right. He'll be taking Shepard's orders only if he chooses to.

Gah, typo.

Seconded, I kept lurking even though I was a regular cause I'm worried about conflicts here over things that we don't all agree on. Why don't we just stick to the Kai-love?

If we're lucky there will be some tension or dialogue addressing it, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was glossed over.  Technically, no one in ME2 had to take Shepard's orders either (except for Jacob, Miranda, and the Cerberus crew, I guess.  And Samara because of her weird oath.)

I'm quite curious about this as well.  Ideally, I would like to see a difference in his reaction and level of cooperation based on what choices you made in the previous games.  But realistically, I don't think that would happen.  I hope that they show a nice progression with the Shepard's relationship with Kaidan in commanding the ship, though.

while I'd like it to be addressed as well, I assume it will be minor if touched upon at all, mostly because it's only Kaidan who outranks Shepard now, right? Not Ashley. So they might just concentrate on other aspects.
In the other hand, this is the last part of the trilogy, so they might really branch out and I'd be happy as a clam if they do ^_^

You'd make some sense if you said that about both Kaidan and Ashley. But, nooooo, dear pro-Ashley one, you came to this specific thread and said that you wish they'd leave Kaidan as a non-romanceable squadmate for everyone, regardless of Shep's gender. And what about Ashley? Oh sure, Ash is worth it and has your approval.

You know, even people who can't put up with the fact that Kaidan is very likely to be a bisexual LI, whether they're basically Ashley fans or not, don't seem to be so drastically against those who romanced Kaidan and plan on continuing or finally doing it "properly" in ME 3

Is this really necessary, InviolateNK? She already apologised and was only stating a fact when she said that Ashley is more likely to be saved by the average player than Kaidan.
Apart from that, many Ashley fans are Kaidan fans as well.

I'd suggest we move on to more pleasant topics.

Do you think Kaidan's alternate armour will be an Alliance one? I really liked the new design we've seen in the trailer and gameplay video.
