be gentle with the poor guy, remember, his bones are still weak and shepard has enhanced strength

edited.  replaying ME1 with my Liara femshep.. Kaidan and Ash banter is hillarious.. and she calls him by the first name when Shepard is technicaly not looking   no wonder Fyre ships them like there's no tomorrow

Couple things I like about that video:

I like Vega due to him showing Shep respect. The whole you shouldn't call me commander and Vega says I shouldn't salute you either:P That made me like him. We are gonna be buddies!!

We get to see Kaidan before getting attacked and escaping:wub:

Ashely sounded so excited to see Shep and even as Shep is leaving stares at him with a smile. I could see in her face she still had feelings for him. So no hostility which I was worried about. Which means Kaidan probably will sound excited as well. Wasn't that video default Shep with no romance with Ashley?

I was pretty impressed even though it was buggy. The guy in the window made me laugh:D

Yep. I wonder how it will look for romanced VS and polished facial animations. Guess we'll have to wait at least until January to find out.

I found it a little odd that Vega didn't know that Ashley - and, one would presume, Kaidan - had worked so closely with Shepard. I mean, wouldn't anyone who knew who the VS was also know that s/he'd been part of the Battle of the Citadel?

Then again, maybe the narrative purpose of Vega is to be the person to explain things to for the new people who'll play ME3 without having played 1 or 2.  I mean, I'm sure the character works just fine on a number of levels, as Kaidan did the job of biotics codex entry without it diminishing his believability as a character at all (indeed, it added to his character, I think).  I just think it's curious.

The Conviction comic indicates though that Vega's been outta the military for some time before ME3. He was on Omega and probably missed tons of Alliance news. He only returns when Anderson picks him up to escort Shep back to Earth.

And then it's what you said, he does serve as a guy to help new players.

You're a smart cookie, that must be it. I suppose he could know these things and still serve as an expositonator ie. Didn't you and the commander... Remember when... You know how... Ugh I can't wait to see Kaidan's Earth outfit! Whether it will be like we saw in the blurry concept or something else, the beta made it clear to me he will have some more casual/uniform outfit in the intro just like Ash has

Vega's basically Shep's escort and guard during the trial hearings. Anderson assigns Vega to this task in Conviction comic, right before ME3. So yes, they know each other at least a bit already.

Maybe that's because James wasn't expecting they were rather close? Ashley exclaimed "Shepard?" instead of "Commander?". Looks like using names instead of ranks is a big step (Kaidan looks extremely confused and adorable when starts doing so in ME1), and the fact that first, instinctive thing Williams remembered was surname and not rank speaks that they were at least friends? If their relationships were strictly by the book, then she'd likely ask "Commander", even if he isn't with Alliance anymore - just from the force of habit.

I wonder what's ingame public opinion on Shepard/VS relationships. How many people are shippers, how many thinks that VS is substitute to dead Shepard, how Ashley's family is viewed now in case she's a SpeCTRe, what people think about human biotics and especially L2 in case Kaidan is a SpeCTRe. Hell, even what Shepard's old team - and especially Garrus as ex SpeCTRe candidate - thinks about this appointment. In short: I smell party banter here

/rant ok this is seriously pissing me off. everyone seems to be selling ME stuff with no issue or not even thinking of asking bioware if its ok... except me. I just had to worry about copyrights and ask them if it was ok. I swear I'm ridiculously tempted to just say f that and sell my allegiance sets anyways... and I actually had people ask and like an honest idiot that I am, I HAD to say no >_>

Well, Microsoft flubbed up and accidently granted ME3 beta access to people testing XBL's beta dashboard, so a bunch of people got a look at the intro for ME3 (and even recorded it).

They used default Sheploo, and we saw Ashley, Vega, and Anderson. Since it's still beta, Anderson mistakenly called "Major Alenko" over the comm instead of Ashley, so Kai Kai's been promoted! :happy:


We also saw three "modes" for gameplay: Action Mode (which focuses more on fighting, and all the dialogue is chosen automatically), Story Mode (which focuses more on dialogue and the story, so fighting will be easier), and RPG Mode (which is normal difficulty and you get to choose your dialogue).

And that's all I saw, didn't watch all the videos, but I am SO PSYCHED.

something has just occured to me.  Maybe James doesn't know who Ashley/Kaidan are?  I mean Shepard calls out to her by first name and James seems to be generaly out of the loop.  Ash/ Kaidan were pretty well classified and its possible that their spectrehood didn't recieve the fanfare that Shepard's induction did, so Vega might not even know who they are.  so he might have heard that Shepard and Williams/Alenko served with Shepard, but he might not know Ashley/Kaidan that did?

1 thing I only realized now (yay me for being late! xD). The fact Raphael recorded end-game scenes for Kaidan means it will be definitely possible for him to stay alive at least throughout 99% of the game! That also heavily suggest he may really be a super-permanent squaddie if we make the right choices and don't let him die!

You mean, James somehow know both Kaidan and Ashley (while Mac Walters claims they didn't serve together) in person, but he didn't recognise them as part of Shepard's crew?

It may make sense in case of Ashley (rather popular name, and, in case if he first met her after ME2, he might decide the rank is too different), but with Kaidan? How many Kaidans exist in ME universe? Hm, if James doesn't even know name and only recognised familiar face, then maybe - even more possible if James was away from normal communication devices and didn't see faces of team which saved Citadel, otherwise it's hard to miss the hair bump.

Finally watch the video, kinda glad Kaidan wasn't in it would make me want the game like NOW.

I really want to know what he'll be wearing and if my shep can do a sexy windswept turn when  she goes "Kaidan."
