I thought Shep was a Staff Commander? Hm, I'm probably wrong, though. So Kaidan's only a rank or two above, not too bad for those egotistical players who want to be top dog.

Shepard is a Lieutenant Commander.

Ashley was of course a Gunnery Chief in ME1, either a 1st or 2nd Lieutenant in ME2, and will be a Lieutenant Commander in ME3.

But yea, I really hope Kaidan isn't going to revert back to the "there are regs" and "fraternization" nonsense that we had to hack through in ME1. I mean with the galaxy under attack and the whole Horizon thing, I doubt that will be the top of his list for reasons to not get down and dirty off the bat, but I guess I'm just getting parinoid. Plus, I dont think the regulations are that strict when it comes to higher ranking officers doin the nasty, compared to a high ranking officer and recently enrolled one.

With all the things we have to worry about, I really think (hope?) that won't be one of them.  I mean, the galaxy is near destruction, Earth is getting blown up, the Alliance command structure is in disarray, AND you're both Spectres.  Surely those regs don't matter anymore.

Okay, so, really random, but I had a Mass Effect/Kaidan related dream last night.

The beginning was the same as the fanfic I'm working on writing, except that I was Commander Shepard. Climbing aboard the Normandy from Earth, meeting Kaidan and Vega, saying goodbye to Anderson, all that hoopla. Except that Vega was holding a parrot (whose name was Sparky, apparently). At the last moment, Anderson told me (Shepard) that I'd been demoted, and Kaidan was now in charge.
So Kaidan gave me a tour of the ship, commenting that he helped redesign it. The ship had some sort of beach theme going, there were paintings, palm trees, sea shells, and such everywhere, and the crew members were all wearing Hawaiian tourist garb. Kaidan told me the new uniforms were his idea. Then, he led me up to his loft (formerly Shepard's loft), and introduced me to his pet sea turtles (in the fish tank). The whole room was some sort of turtle shrine; there was turtle stuff everywhere! Kaidan pulled out his favorite turtle, a little tyke named Tim, and carried him on his shoulder for a while.
Some other weird stuff happened (I got into a brawl with the reporter, saved Chakwas' granddaughter from a clown, and helped Mordin with his gardening).

Yeah, that's random and has nothing to do with anything, but I thought I'd share some Kaidan randomness. I'm actually considering putting Tim somewhere into my fanfic now...

Except this time I apparently looked at spoilers. And turns out they're not as far away from what they really were lmao.

The more I think about it the more antsy I get about how the first Shepard/Kaidan conversation is going to go, without the distraction of Reapers and whatnot in the immediate background.

Obviously Kaidan has regret on how Horizon was handled, but it doesn't seem that he is going to just instantly forgive Shepard for working w/ Cerberus and not alerting him to her/his being alive. I'm expecting total awkwardness for like the first two post mission conversations.

The only awkwardness I'm expecting is Kaidan wondering what the heck is up when my Shepard is duct taping him to herself.
Shepard: *Advances on Kaidan with a roll of duct tape*
Kaidan: *looks up* Er... Shepard?
Shepard: *begins duct taping Kaidan to her*
Kaidan: Shepard, what are you doing?!
Shepard: Ever since last May when you were announced in ME3, I've had a very bad feeling that we'll have to separate for some reason or another, placing you in danger. So... You're not leaving my side for this game. Ever

:lol: That's so awesome. Normandy decoration packs for ME3 DLC! I've never had a Kaidan dream, sadly, though I have had Fenris and Alistair dreams.

I know!  Ugh.  No.  No regs stuff again please!

But about serving under Kaidan for a change...femShep did that in ME1--when Kaidan rolled her over.

I am now imagining a conversation with Kaidan about where we'll go on vacation once all of this is over (a la that conversation in the Thane romance). Which leads me to fully support a beach vacation so I can see Kaidan in swim trunks.
