Are VS spoilers THAT bad that we're talking about cancelling pre-orders?

I mean, what if what was read was just ONE branch of a storyline?

EDIT:  I swear, if it's something like VS inevitable death and the VS gets screwed in yet *another* ME game, I'm gonna be pissed. :pinched:

I didn't think the one VS spoiler I read was that bad. Bad writing perhaps, which is why I didn't believe it.

People gotta shake the stick at the man!

I absolutely enjoyed ME1 & ME2 so I'm keeping faith in Casey and his team to close it out with a bang.

This comes down to enjoying the ride that they give us and not trying to write the story ourselves. And for me there is a hope that we return to the more hard hitting choices that we saw in ME1 ... that game is where I paused the game alot and struggled with what choice to make.

Without even looking at the spoilers this is the route that I'm hoping the game goes. As I said on the other two threads ... A bottle of Jameson whiskey, box of kleenex and the controller = ME3 playtime!

I'm glad I didn't come across any of the spoilers so far, but now you got me worried

Let's just trust to Mr. Sbarge who claims ME3 has the best writing he'd ever seen and Mr. Priestly who claims the leaked info is the rough draft ;)

Everything will be fine.

This! Remember peeps, Raphael said he recorded end-game scenes for Kaidan which equals no forced death! And he said lots of steamy action and that the writing was amazing! :)

Personally, after two games, and feeling emotionally invested in the characters, there are certain scenarios I will not go through.  It wouldn't be fun for me, and I would not finish the game.  So, if they were definitely in, I am not playing.

BUT, as others have said, there's a chance that I won't be put in that position, as a player.  Which is why I am making everybody else guinea pigs to tell me if I'm going to enjoy ME3.  You all don't mind, right???

I agree with everything said here. Though I never read any of the spoilers myself, deftly avoided them. I have no wish to. Rough draft or not, I don't want to know anything major about ME3 before playing. I do know that when writing a story, the amount of drafts you go through to get everything exactly right can be huge. Things change. And I trust Mr Priestly when he says it was leaked info on an early draft, Sbarge too. I am looking forward to that 'steamy' action Image IPBImage IPB.

Sure!  I made a Batman rainbow cake for my son's birthday:  link  link, I could make an N7 version for ME3's release.

Okay, I know I said I'd be optimistic before but seriously, IMHO some of us have well-founded fears. No, there was nothing in the spoilers that suggested that we can't have a happily ever after with Kaidan. That doesn't mean that there's no possibility of Kaidan becoming so FUBAR'ed that his character becomes ruined for some of us.

For me, it's like Anders in DA2. I do not have a single post-game save where he's alive. I can't even bring myself to romance him because of what he does. Plenty of people love him, though, and hey, great for them. But for me, personally, Anders is so completely ruined I can't even enjoy him in DAA any more.

And that's what I'm worried about. The writers can't please everyone, and apparently plenty of people are fine with the revealed spoilers. Again, great for them. But there was enough in the spoilers that has me seriously concerned about Kaidan's character arc.

No, I'm not cancelling my preorder. I know myself well enough that regardless of what happens I'm going to have to play it. But telling me to have faith based on Bioware writers and devs, because they've never intentionally misdirected us or shown bias towards certain characters that aren't Kaidan before? Sorry, I can't have faith like that. And yeah, I'm sure Sbarge has recorded plenty of lovely lines, but if to get them I have to force my Shepards to roll over like whipped dogs and act in a way that's completely out of character for them, then I guess I just won't be getting them. Whatever.

@Daniella:  It sounded from Mr. Sbarge's blog that Kaidan's role in ME3 was as big as in ME1, if not more so.  But that could just be my interpretation of his inflection.

I don't.  Although I am also hoping that the good people here will tell me if the happy ending isn't possible before I get to the end--to readjust my expectations before I'm disappointed at the end.  But I'm really hoping BW stays true to form and gives the possibility of a happy ending with your LI of choice.

Without spoiling anything, his role IS big. He's arguably the most important squaddie along with Liara.

this, for me.

with one exception.  I have 2 games that I planned for keeping Anders alive.  I'm still not sure if I ever finish one of them.

which is why I have my plan.  and I'm keeping it CE, becasue if by some chance my fears are unfounded - I don't want to miss out on it.. and if the fears come true - CE's, unlike regular editions actualy go up in price with time.

No prob. I really don't wanna spoil anything but I see people are very very worried. Yes, there may be things people will not like (though it ain't 100% sure yet if they will even make it to the game, these were early drafts, not to mention what people will or will not like is completly subjective) but Kaidan definitely is hella lot in ME3 and there's no forced/unavoidable death for him fans were so worried about. I think that's what people want to know the most.

oh hey look at this:
While there's no mention of how this happened, BioWare's Jesse Houston notes that the leaked content is "out of date and does not reflect the final story experience."

*shrugs* I like Anders. I love the man's passion. After Kaidan and Carth, he's my favorite BioWare LI. I do hate what he did. However was my mage's one love. She's not happy with him, but she'll try to work with him, to help him.
But no. I wouldn't want to see something like that happen with Kaidan. However, Kaidan has never been unstable like Anders. So I can't see that happening.

Guys, have mercy on me - I'm currently trying to calm down two biggest fanbases because all this talk about spoilers turns me into one raging guinea pig.

Kinda DA2 spoilers ahead:

djhadsjkahj
Yes, DA2 Anders-like turn of events was bad. But the reaction of players wasn't exactly positive. I don't think BioWare will repeat the same mistake again.

END OF DA2 RELATED STUFF. BUT START OF DISCUSSION OF GODDAMNED LEAK.

Second, not everyone is pleased with such turn of events. Aside from people who are worried about own favourites, there are plenty of people disagreeing with VS treatment. Besides, what got in that leak looks for many as extremely bad writing. Would BioWare get such spot on reputation? I think not.

And third, think about Mr. Sbarge. Remember when on one comic con he was asked about recording m/m and answered "yes"? In my books he's not that strongly relates to EA and hence his words aren't that contaminated with marketing. Now let's return to what he said. "Characters are living people". "Kaidan will never betray". "ME3 has the best writing in series". If there would be horrible moments, wouldn't in his blogs appear any indication on that? Something dodgy, like "ME3 is hard time for entire galaxy and all characters" or something like that? But all we see now from him is positive - man clearly enjoys what he's doing. If he had to record atrocities Shepard would go through to get those steamy lines, wouldn't it sadden him as much as us?

Personally I would say to avoid them. They are rough drafts of missions without taking in your choices or relationships. The romance part of the scripts aren't even included (they were still being worked on as per recent tweets confirmed) so that layer is missing along with interrupts, backsground relationships, etc.

How anyone is basing their opinion on how ME3 will be overall amazes me. It's like seeing a half finished single piece of a 200 pc puzzle and saying "this is a crappy picture". I look at the two finished Mass Effect games and just keep the faith that the conclusion will be even better.

If I'm wrong and the finished product sucks then I'll nerd rage ... but only after I have played the game a couple of times and slept on it. Sometimes the morning light puts things in a better frame.

Just my 2 cents. Image IPB

I agree that the worst thing about the info in the leaked document (not calling them spoilers anymore, cause I'm not convinced they really qualify) was that the VS seemed quite OOC.

But, Sbarge's audioblogs give me a fair amount of confidence that this won't happen.  Not because there is the opportunity for happily ever after, but because his biggest focus in those audioblogs has been Kaidan's "character" - who he is as a person.  He goes on and on about how good-hearted he is, and deep and heartfelt and wanting to do the right thing, etc.

That at the very least tells me that most if not all of the lines he has recorded reflect Kaidan's "correct" character.

[EDIT]:  ToP, really?  brb
