There might be bad feelings, but death is a bit much. None of my ex-bfs have kicked the bucket after our breakups. Also, something bad might happen to the dumped party, but it shouldn't be based on whether Shep dumped them or not. (That would be weird...)

I have one Shep who's a player. He hops around and hooks up with whoever; that's because in my head canon, his soul mate is an OC not relating to the Normandy or military. If breakup = death. he might be in big trouble.

^ This. I'm pretty sure there will be a way to either get back together with your ME1 LI, or stay with your ME2 LI. My only cheater was with Thane, and honestly, she isn't expecting him to live long. If they do let you cure Thane in ME3, that femShep will probably stick with Thane because Kaidan deserves better. I think I am up to five FemSheps that are faithful to Kaidan now. I keep making new ones so he has every personality type to make him happy.

I think presense of ME2 LI will make impossible to return to ME1 LI - maybe ME1 LI will assume that Shepard moved on and there's no need to complicate situation further, so makes no advances, or Shepard will automatically think so. Don't know if counts as spoiler, but remember DA2 and two types of romances there.

@mineralica Not really. Remember if you dump one LI it resets flags. Kaidan's picture pops back up off the desk like magic! It's also possible to move from romance to romance in ME2 and still get a "faithful" or unromanced flag at the end....not that I advocate that, of course. I guess it's an option for serial romancers that have no self-control. I'm a faithful kinda gal myself, but I watched my hubby blow through all the romances with his maleShep, one after the other.

Also, I don't think they will really make ME1 romances unavailable to unfaithful players...you'll just have to pick between them like all BW romances.

The only more or less confirmed thing about cheating I've heard was "What if I cheated on ME1 LI but my ME2 LI died at SM?" - something about "You can't get away from consequences of cheating even if your ME2 LI died". Can't remember if death of LI on SM causes photo of ME1 LI turning face up...

In the end that's the question of "where ME2 sets romantic flag".

ME1 had four romance flags - "romanced someone", "romanced Ashley", "romanced Kaidan" and "romanced Liara". Look at "romanced someone". What if ME2 will set similar flag? "Romanced someone", and Shepard, no matter what happened to them and LI, is caught.

Another thing is "broke up" flag. Character Shepard broken up with are unavailable for romance (speculations: if my memory serves well, relationships can't be started again even if appropriate dialogue which would normally have option to initiate romance will appear), so it likely there are two flags which are checked during initiating of ME2 romance: "has active romance" and "broke up with this character". Saying the character Shepard flirted with "I'm not interested" will reset first... but may set the second. And this second - "broke up with character X" - may be transferred into ME3.

Oh, I'm pulled a whole theory again. This happens^_^

@Mineralica: I have a character who fell into a romance with Thane, but didn't go through with the night before Omega-4 and after the endgame broke up with him. I thought it would be interesting to see if there was a difference. Now, when I broke up with Thane, Kaidan's picture popped right back up again. So I found that interesting.

if you never got a message from her to come up to your quaters and dance?  you are good to go

the options "I'd catch you" and "I'd embrace you"  decide which relationship with Kelly you end up in.

my Kaidan loyal Shepard also has Kelly feed her fish and all they did at dinner was gossip >_>

Do you mean in ME2 or ME3?
Because i've been told in ME2 that Kelly's 'romance' doesn't count.

one of the developers tweeted later that it actualy IS recorded.  as is Samara relationship attempt. 

it doesn't count as a full fledged romance, complete with achievemnt, but it does count as a fling at least

I honestly don't remember which one I chose.  But she doesn't send the email at the end of the game, and I never flirted with her after Samara's quest.  I thought that was all I needed to do.

I would be seriously put out if I avoided all kinds of other icky scenarios, and then I get dumped on my 60 hour ME2 playthrough character because she told Kelly she'd embrace her.

I'm not worried, since all but one of my femSheps couldn't even think of anyone but Kaidan.

But do you guys really think BW won't make it possible for horny guys to romance whoever they want to, regardless of actions in ME2? If my husband is any indication, it's possible the majority of people "cheated" and since their main demographic is male....well, I think they aren't going to limit their customers beyond making them pick....just look at how easy it was to get back together with Liara in LotSB whether you were in a romance with someone else or not.

I would really be surprised if it wasn't the same situation for the VS.

Okay, I've heard that Kelly and her dinner counts (can't remember if "friendship" a.k.a. "I'll catch you" dinner is promised to be transferred differently than "romantic" a.k.a. "I'll hug you" dinner, though), but even Samara? Wow.
