Or he still retains his rank, like how Ash/Kaidan/Shep still keep their own after becoming spectres. (unless it's stated somewhere that council members have to give that up, nevermind.)

And the slip of the name is a bug, no other reason it would of been said unless it is referring to someone else haha.

true he could still retain his rank or he could have stepped down because he put his belief in shepard above being a councilman so he stepped down
or he was like
"screw politics i'm bring the fight to the repaers!" and went all commando

And it's very unlikely that we'll get the info before release unless it's leaked, so it's all just speculation and personal opinion right now. There are FAR more important issues surrounding Kaidan's role in ME3, as far as I'm concerned.

But speaking of Sheploo I feel obligated to say at least once that I love how he looks in ME3. He looks more like a real person who's had the crappiest life ever and a lot more sympathetic.

Huh.  I've never tried to NOT romance Kaidan.  But I think if you are harder on Kaidan after Eden Prime it might negate the romance option.  But I"m not certain on that.

If I recall correctly, yes, but I never intentionally attempted it with her the way I managed with him.  With both of them, you have to miss the Citadel overlook and shut the romance down early.  With her, I thought the line was bugged, so you have to insult her grandfather or something?  (However, her romance runs very close to her friendship path with additional flirts, so half the time I felt like the romance wasn't even active...)

There's one line where you can shut down the romance without being an ass. I can never remember which one, though I remember it as Shepard's line being "I can trust you won't have any problems when whatever's coming hits the fan," and Kaidan's reply is along the lines of, "Nope. You can count on me." /endromance

The way I always read into it, is that Kaidan thinks Shepard is hitting on him and moves from there.  Because he only starts to show interest (outside of the Overlook) after Shepard answers his "do you get this friendly with everyone?" question.

...but I haven't played in a while, maybe I ought to go back and do some research?  :innocent:
