Wow, you guys have been busy since I was at work!
Happy 600th page.

So since there are "dates" in ME3, what would you want to to with Kaidan?
I suppose a nice trip to the skating rink would be out of the question, but I think it needs to be something fun and active. Kaidan and Shep have too much awkwardness from Horizon to make them sit alone across the table from each other with nothing to do but talk or stare. Maybe runthrough a few battlesims together and Kaidan can remember why he fell for Shep in the first place.

I don't think Kaidan was wrong on Horizon, but he did say a few mean things to Shep and didn't get her side of the story. My Sheps universally hate Cerberus and want to poke out The Illusive Man's eyes with an oyster fork. Maybe they can both admit they were wrong, put it behind them, and start over.

I will never understand people who do things like that. Why can't they write a fic without dragging another character through the mud to suit their needs.

In fact, I don't know why people feel the need to tear down a character just to prop up the one they little better, especially with rivals (Ashley/Kaidan vs Liara, Kaidan/Liara vs. Thane/Garrus/Jacob, Ashley/Liara vs Miranda/Jack/Tali). Is it really that impossible to like/not like a character, but respect that other people do because everyone has their own opinions? I mean, I don't like Liara for a whole rainbow of reasons, but I'm not going to flanderize her or bash her fanbase to make Kaidan look better.

Sorry, I just get tired of people who act like their opinion is the ONLY opinion. I see it everywhere! Why do I use the internet?! It brings me nothing but annoyance! (and cute kitten videos)

Yes please! Virmire sucks, because you're basically forced to kill off one of the two most interesting characters in your squad (IMO anyway). Unfortuntely, all the other squaddies (minus Wrex) play major parts in ME2 or the ME universe overall, so it's like someone at HQ said "Meh, Ashley and Kaidan are basically the same person anyway, it's okay if one of them has to go."

No, no they are not. <_< They're both marines in the Alliance and that's it. THEY'RE NOTHING ALIKE.

I think there's going to be a serious distinction between them in ME3.  BW mailed it in a little bit with Horizon, because it was like 2 minutes of VS action.   I think (hope) your game will be completely different depending on who you have.  They did promise that decisions you made in ME would impact ME3, and that's the biggest.  And this is why I had to Virmire Kaidan in one playthrough, just so I could see what Ash brings to the table.

Indeed. Ash is so totally different from Kaidan and vice versa - there are two worlds between them. Kaidan is the more diplomatic one of both and a darn fine friend for m!Shepard.
Ashley on the other hand is blunt and straight forward and even dares to confront Shepard. Now what do you need more than two Alliance soldiers effectively supporting Shepard in any situation?

I like Wrex, Tali, Garrus and Tali too in ME - I just think the "human trio" (incl. Shepard) deserves some more love too.

Yup, we know. It's gonna be based on Mass Effect 1 and have male Shepard. Been confirmed by Legendary Pictures. We wondered a few times what does it mean for Kaidan (probably nothing good lol...)

Not gonna be in it or he'll be a grizzled stereotypical marine in space.
