Gee, that sounds ominous. I only spoiled the game a teensy bit when the script leak came out, and only on one scene. Now you're making me worried again after I quelled my fears...

Okay. But I don't see anywhere on BSN any groups stating how they hate kaidan. they talk mostly about other characters or about other parts of the game. And also alot of people killed off ashley in their game so if they got rid of kaidan and ashley is dead who would replace the VS? They are not going to axe a character because some people say they don't like a character when there are quite a few who like that character. That was the reason for the choice of the VS. Just like alot of people killed off ashely to keep kaidan. I think everyone just needs to relax. What do you think they are going to do? Kaidan is one of the main characters, he's already been written into the game and confirmed to be in it alot, in fact alot more than he was even in ME1.People need to be more positive.Also Deviant art has nothing to do with mass effect. That is an artist community with their own interpretations they don't work for Bioware so what impact can they really have?I don't see your point. Why shouldn't I be happy that shep can be with the person she loves? I don't know what you mean by the only thing I care about seems a little hostile. Did I say somthing that offended you somehow? How else should it be? See this is why I stay away from spoilers and spoilers that are in fact old drafts of games. People are taking this way too serously.

@ Sakuragirl - Deviant art is the only other large place that I know of that has any concentration of active fans. we're talking about fans here, right? most other Mass Effect specifically and gaming in general sources - dislike to hate VS in general and Kaidan in particular. boring, whiny, carth clone are the nicest epithets that I've read. both developers and fans have their favorites, and Kaidan is not one of them. as for being happy with ending up together in the end?

many people were happy to be able to romance Anders and run off with him at the end of DA2. you know, staying together and all. I happen to think that the cost is too high. and the Anders I liked in DAA is gone, with Justice abomination taking his place.

I don't know how much of the draft will make it into the live game. but what I've read made me very very weary. at least the good bits are way better written then Anders romance. but the rest.... sorry to be a Debby downer but I no longer trust Bioware to do the characters they don't favor and whose writers no longer work for the current ME team - to do them justice. I was a lot more hopeful before I saw the spoilers.

It's true Bioware hasn't given us the Kaiden/Ashley love we've wanted but the interviews that have been out from the developers do support the saying that "The faithful shall be rewarded!" Like any romance it's not going to be perfect. Your version and mine our entirely different then the guy who is writing out the whole romantic scene on paper. (and getting a nice fat paycheck for it.) So my advice is just sit back and enjoy the story, it's really been great so far. Don't let some bad eggs get you down. If you did read the script and didn't like a certain direction of the story, have faith for the fat lady hasn't sang just yet. Story plots can be rewritten and lines can be re-recorded even after the paycheck have been dealt out. All the actors in ME3 are under contract to re-record if necessary and will be reimbursed for their time. So the chances of a tweek in a story plot is quite possible.

So my long winded advice to you and others is "It's out of our hands now so just relax continue to have fun. Take solace that you have a fun and interesting forum group that will laugh, cry or help to assemble an angry mob at the Bioware's main facility, should one be needed.

Thank you very much, sjmlka1. I appreciate you for writing all that. I hope I'll see the game in a different light, and learn to appreciate what's there, since there's a LOT going in the game. :innocent:

Earlier Jaer said something about these horrendous Kaidan spoilers being related to JUST those Sheps that have cheated on Kaidan. Like how BW said there will be "consequences" for those who have "cheated. Is that really true from those who read the spoilers already?

My apologies, but no, that isn't what I meant earlier. The situation that arises occurs no matter what. It is my strong belief that whether you cheated or not will influence the outcome of that situation. It is the situation itself that infuriates me. It should not occur. At all. It is not in Kaidan's character for that situtation to even be a question and I will leave it there to avoid spoiling it for anyone else.

Maybe I should clear up any confusion on my stance, too. I could not care less about how the romance ends in ME3. Those who want a sunshine and bunnies ending will get some sort of resolution that will satisfy them, I'm sure. I care about character integrity. I care about plot and writing. I care about the buildup in relationships and how characters can be woven together to tell a damn good story.

If all you want is to sex up a character named Kaidan up in ME3, you should have no problem what so ever.

The problem is that if some of these spoilers are true then the story needs more than 'tweaking' to do justice to Kaidan's character. At this late stage in development I just don't see anything other than minor tweaks being done.

I f teh leaks are anything near the truth the problem I have is not about the romance but about the fact that Kaidan is being made into the galactic leper and the village idiot of the overall ME fanbase all rolled into one because Horizon obviously didn't do enough of a hatchet job.

Do I care about the romance angle? Yes, but I don't want it at the expense of what makes Kaidan the person we all fell for in ME1. Sure, he has probably changed a bit in the last few years of the story but his core values and beliefs should still be the same, and certain things I've seen lead me to believe that at least some of his actions are totally ooc.
