That was the one thing about ME2 I hated, sometimes you'd choose a line and she'd say something completely different.
Dialogue wheel: "I want you, Thane."
Spoken line: "I'm here for you, Thane. Whatever you need."

I forgive the badly paraphrased romance lines because they were trying to make it obvious that
choosing said line means you're flirting. Because ninjamancing is worse than deeeeeeeeeeeeath!

On the other hand, when you choose a line like "It's good to see you again" and then hear "Hey Kaidan old buddy old pal, how you doin'?" I facepalm until I hit the moon.
The renegade response on Horizon isn't much better. Shepard says, "Our reunion will have to wait. Cerberus brought me back to stop attacks like this." and it sounds pretty snippy.

Isn't it nice how you get responses that allow you to tell Kaidan/Ashley that you feel the same about them (when they say they loved you), and how much you've missed them? Oh wait, no we don't. <_< Apparently it's assumed that we're not supposed to love the VS anymore. Chalk it up to another "we must make you hate the VS so that you'll pick one of our NEW love interests!" example.
