When I saw that 'I want you, Thane' was an option I was like... what? Did I accidentally romance him or something? Then when I actually chose it, I cringed a bit.

I forgive the badly paraphrased romance lines because they were trying to make it obvious that choosing said line means you're flirting. Because ninjamancing is worse than deeeeeeeeeeeeath! 


On the other hand, when you choose a line like "It's good to see you again" and then hear "Hey Kaidan old buddy old pal, how you doin'?" I facepalm until I hit the moon. 


The renegade response on Horizon isn't much better. Shepard says, "Our reunion will have to wait. Cerberus brought me back to stop attacks like this." and it sounds pretty snippy.  Isn't it nice how you get responses that allow you to tell Kaidan/Ashley that you feel the same about them (when they say they loved you), and how much you've missed them? Oh wait, no we don't. <_< Apparently it's assumed that we're not supposed to love the VS anymore. Chalk it up to another "we must make you hate the VS so that you'll pick one of our NEW love interests!" example.

I apologise for resurrecting a 4 page old post but I have a secondary playthrough started that I was planning on using to see how the romance develops if you cheat on Kaidan in ME2 and want to get back with him in 3. Is this from the spoilers (which I haven't read because, to me, sometimes "ignorance is bliss") or did I miss an official source? If Kaidan definitely won't go back to a cheating Shepard I'd rather keep her loyal so I'd like to know before I import her.

Wow I actually read 15 pages! I've read the spoilers and Raphel Sbarge was right there is A LOT more action between Shepard and Kaidan. Also there are some very beautiful romantic moments that make your heart melt. Every relationship has it's up and downs. Also think about everything Kaidan has been through. I can say honestly someone dying an unexpected death does change you. It changes how you view yourself and the world around you. It did to me. Kaidan has to sort out all sorts of crap to think about. This is a couple who have not been together for 3 yrs. We all know he is a very passionate man and that is what made us love him. He got his heart broken before and he is just being cautious. The challenges I read is so worth the very beautiful written love parts in the story.

See I like where you are coming from especially having not read the spoilers. Everyone else I feel is taking this way too seriously. But everyone is entitiled to their own opinion and own belief. But Your perspective is very well thought out and makes alot of sense.

No, that is not correct.

Kaidan will be on Shepard's squad regardless of the relationship status. There will be consequences for "cheating", however.
