Was just searching Kaidan on google and found this.
Kaidan (怪談) (sometimes transliterated kwaidan) is a Japanese word consisting of two kanji: 怪 (kai) meaning “strange, mysterious, rare or bewitching apparition" and 談 (dan) meaning “talk” or “recited narrative.”

Thought it was rather cool :)

Kaidan
ka(i)-dan as a boy's name is a variant of Kaden (Arabic), and the meaning of Kaidan is "companion".

Had in my head that I had read it was an arabic name and went to search. I think "comanion" is quite a telling name for a squaddie, hehe. Like the idea that it's a japanese name. He didn't strike me as asian before, but hell, I'm game hehe ^^

I really like the name Kaidan. Even if it wasn't in this game and i heard it somewhere else, i still would really like it :D:D

I wanted to love Skyrim, but on my PC it's crashing every time I as much as sneeze. And it ALWAYS crashes in the middle of dragon fights. Which is highly inconvenient for me if I want to get anywhere in this game.

Add to that my terrible experience with marriage...I chose Vorstag the hireling because he was convenient, didn't look like he had been beaten with the ugly stick, and had both eyes. Plus, a decent voice. So off to Riften we went, and our marriage was performed...but even before I could control my character again, Vorstag fled the temple. I ran after him, but I couldn't find him anywhere. So I'm back to using Lydia as a pack mule. SIGH.

Yeah, Bethesda has a long way to go when it comes to romances in their games.

I dunno I think Bethesda has the edge on realism when you can be left at the altar.

LOL, that actually wouldn't bother me, but he said I do!  I think the problem was that he's a follower, and he had to leave my "party" to attend the wedding.  So afterwards, the AI tells him to go somewhere else, since he's been dismissed.

Maybe I'll just go find a dog.  Dogs are faithful, right?

I like it too = D I usually like all the names in Bioware games, because they tend to be rather creative (my take on it anyway.) Then again I'm really biased to (for me) foreign names. I definitely won't punish my kids with any of those names though. at least not if they're keeping my last name. Nothing ever goes with german lastnames without sounding lulzy.

See, i normal love older names like Grace, Benjamin. The kinda names you don't see people using these days. Is Kaidan an older name? I know it's unusual :)

The dogs in Skyrim die faster than you can blink. And they don't respawn, so there are only three dogs you can have throughout the game. :?

I like older names too, though I can't say if Kaidan is an old name exactly. It doesn't strike me as one, but I've never heard it as a japanese name, so there it should be rare.

Come to think of it, I just realized I actually know someone named Kaiden. I don't think it's an old name, just a little more uncommon.

I love older names too, unfortunately the names like Kaiden, Braden, Aiden, seem popular around where I am... I still think Alistair and Kaidan are awesome names though.

I lol'd at the entries. My boyfriend is guilty of misspelling Kaidan's name as Kaiden (he corrected himself once then just gave up and said Carth.)

...then again, he DID introduce me to KOTOR first, I just gave up because the game didn't tell me the space bar was critically important to the swoop races! (Then I fell into Mass Effect. Years. Later.)

I have a friend who called her son 'Kaiden' so I always have to think about the spelling, lol. It's probably the reason why seeing his name misspelt on the bsn doesn't really bother me that much.

We've gone over the many meanings and origins of Kaidan before - it can also come from the Arabic 'kadan' meaning companion, so take your pick, lol.

Skyrim - I tried but I just can't get into it. I like a set path to follow, wandering around just gets me totally lost because I have no sense of direction, lol.

I've never known a Kaidan. Maybe thats why i thought it was an older name. Where i come from, all the names are really urban, like shanaynay and stuff.

EDIT.
I was joking.. :D:D

EDIT again.
I just meant where i was brought up was rough. :o

My boyfriend confessed in not remembering if this tricky name should be "Kaiden" or "Keidan" (there are three possible options in Russian instead of two) and sticking to "Kaidan" because it's easier to remember "both A" than try to recall which letter goes where. Imagine his surprise when he found out his "simplier version" is really the correct one.

I like Skyrium! I do love to explore too. It's a nice change. I do love BW games though for the more personal story and interaction of characters. The Skyrium characters want you to do things for them and then they scram. I use my map constantly so I'm not lost. One thing that I find strange though is Lydia keeps calling me "my Thane" which bothers me cause I'm not Thane Krios:P However though I can't complain about a game that is keeping my mind preoccupied till SWOTR.

If I ever had (god forbid) kids, I couldn't give them an everyday common name. It's this thing that I have that makes me feel mental pain about it. But I would also never give them a real outlandish name.

I could never make a Jr. either. Kid's gotta have his/her own name.

But I do have a dog named Anders. Bioware has already infected me.

Skyrim.

don't worry my argonian dovahkiin, you shall be born one day.

I went to school with like 5 Daniels, 4 Matthews, 4 Michaels, 3 Amandas, etc etc. I swore I'd never give my kids (if I have any) common names. On the other hand, I won't be like this one couple who went to court to legally have a number or symbol in their son's name. My husband wants a son named Leonitis or Octavius. I told him he's banned from naming children.

My husband showed me that article! He said we should have had a kid just so he could get free Bethesda games for life. I facepalmed... LIKE A BOSS.

Ah, common names. My father is Andrei. I'm dating another Andrei for 5 years, whose grandfather is also Andrei. When I suggested my opinion to "how should we name our son if we'll have one"... I got banned from naming children:P

I wonder how Kaidan's parents came to this suggestion... and what is his second name.

Edit: Oh I'm on top. Here's Kaidan the narcissist to uphold your weird tradition. :P Image IPB

Double edit: That's fantastic Clara, looks like a sh*t load of work went into it. Personally I'd keep the shaded one because I never throw away something once you've sunk time and effort into it. *cue refusal to trim overlong essays*
