Yeah all the romance scripts seemed pretty good, but kaidans and garrus stood out as the best for me. Some gooey moments, some awkward 'awww' moments and some good convos in between. I'd say its about a thousand times better than than the script for romance for me2.

Some really hilarious moments too, im so psyched for the game, why is it not march already?!

*edit* oh and another question, ive never done the dlc for me1, are they any good? any husks in them? any nice/cute convos with out fav L2?

I'm almost embarassed at the amount of times I've listened to the Horizon email, lol. But no matter how many times I hear it the emotion gets to me every time.

re ME1 sidequests - I never had a creepiness factor but then I'm deaf so probably don't hear creepy music and stuff, lol. I always do every sidequest, I can't help myself, lol. I even drew up mud maps of every planet showing every possible deposit of resources and thresher maws, etc. Ok, I admit to being totally obsessed, lmao

edit -
@Noxpanda - Bring down The Sky was interesting, but no convrsation with our favourite L2, or any other squaddies for that matter.  No husks, just lots of batarians.  Pinnacle Station was........... I have no idea how to describe it, lol.  It's really not worth bothering with

Damn I really want to replay ME1 again. *%@#&@# pc that won't even get past the logos at the start of the game without a black screen of death. I need some Kaidan time after hearing Sbarge do that email.

Out of lurk mode--

You know, after seeing someone write that they replayed ME1 and they thought in retrospect that "it sucked"...i just went back and finished a playthrough with my first Adept (I always play Vanguard, usually), and it was AWESOME.

In fact, it was more awesome than me slogging through my new ME2 import right now. The story is just so much more driving and wonderful. The only thing I really *didn't* miss about the original ME was the driving through crappy terrain with the Mako.

Grrrrr Mako...you give me endless hours of frustration! <shakes fist>

As for the person above posting about the Thresher Maw, I actually laughed out loud because I thought I was the only one who was actually scared to drive near those. They freak me out for whatever reason!! All the rumbly, flip-my-Mako, instant dead unless you keep moving suddenness of it kinda wigged me out the first time I saw one. :)

So i was wondering, do you guys do all the side missions in me1 and if so howd you get over the creepiness factor?

Shotgun.  That thing destroys thorian creepers in an epic explosion of goo.
-snip-

This so much! I played through 4 times without ever using the shotgun. I'm about 11 hours into my canon replay and since I fell in love with the shotgun in ME2 I decided to give it another try in the first. I fell in love all over again. One shot to a creeper and it just falls to the ground. Shepard's shotgun in tandem with her and Kaidan's throw annihilated those things, it was beautiful.

Husks don't fall so easily for me so I bring Kaidan and Wrex (I'm just now on Therum to save Liara) when I know I'll be dealing with them and spam the heck out of biotics to keep the husks at a distance. That's normally how I deal with the Rachni since they tend to spit acid.

@XFemShepX I love ME1's story better than ME2's as well. I feel so
much more accomplished at the end and it seems like I know the
characters better, though I guess that's kind of what they were going
for in the second-Shepard feeling isolated and detached. Also, I used to
hate the Mako but after dealing with the Hammerhead I absolutely love
the Mako.

Creepiness factor? With thresher maws I just recognised the "undulated" landscape and was ready to reload a lot. For husks / thorian creepers try to equip all team with shotguns and hammerhead rounds (so zombies can't approach) and took all biotics. Liara / Kaidan with shotgun look exclusive, though :)

Real creepiness factor happened in ME2 on Joker's mission - I got to cargo deck and then alt-tabed for some reason. Forgetting to put game on pause. Result - when I switched window back, there was a sudden closeup of Scion's face followed by "critical mission failure". Quite impressive.

For me, ME1 will always be better than ME2. The story sucked me in straight away, as did Kaidan, lol. My problem with ME2 isn't lack of Kaidan, it's just that I never felt that involved with the story or that I was playing my Shepard. For the first half of my very first ME2 playthrough I was just yelling WTF, and other things, lol, at Shepard, much to the amusement of my sons.

and I hate thresher maws, lol. It took me a while to be able to kill them without going out in a blaze of glory. I hated the Mako in ME1 but after the Hammerhead I kind of want it back.

My favorite line from ME2 is Tali's "I have a shotgun" to Garrus

I hate the mako with a passion.  I liked the idea of exploring planets, but having to drive that thing straight up the side of the Himalayas made me crazy.

I also like that it's a thousand times easier to take cover/crouch in ME2.

They're awful.  And they have magical shield bypassing capabilities.  And just.  Ugh.
I put the Mako straight into reverse every time I see one.

I prefer ME1's story but I can't get into ME1. The gameplay is too difficult for me. I don't know why though :/

I am positively phobic about stretches of flat ground in ME1. That's what the Thresher Maws like. I'll drive way out of my way to keep to rocky terrain. Sounds pretty ridiculous, but there you have it .

That said, though, I still prefer the Mako to the danged Hammerhead. Do. Not. Like. If I wanted to play a game requiring me to hop, scoot, and shoot, I'd be playing in some arcade. Prometheus Station drove me insane several times before I got through it. On my second ME2 playthrough I saved Overlord for pretty late in the game because I hate it so.

Same with me.

I don't hate ME2, but...

1) I don't like Cerberus, so being railroaded into working with them and having no way out of it until the end of the game just sucks
2) Most of ME2 has nothing to do with the overall plot. Freedom's Progress, Horizon, collecting the Reaper IFF, and the SM are it. The rest just seem like fetch quests. "Get X person, then gain X person's loyalty". Zzzzzzzz.

And there's other reasons, but those two bother me the most, because I play for the story.

Sticking my nose in for two things:
- Squwee-ing about the 'About Horizon' letter reading.
- Requesting that someone upload the audio to a YouTube video so that it won't be lost after the 27th (going to attempt to do it myself, but I don't know if I'll succeed or not [my money is on no]).

I had to knock the difficulty down to casual at first and start over a couple of times in ME1.  I'm a little worried that I'm going to have trouble with the combat in ME3 since BW has said that they're focusing on adding more shooter elements.  The last FPS I played was GoldenEye when I was 14.   Hopefully this will not impede in any way getting to experience all the Kaidan humanly possible.

ME1 on casual is pretty doable and that's said as someone who is absolutely atrocious at FPS. pause. liberally. in ME2 its the sole reason why I enjoy vanguards as much as I do.

as for ME3 - apparently there's going to be a story mode with minimal combat for those of us, who are shooter challenged :P

I screamed out loud the first time I drove towards an area that had a threshermaw! Then I totally forgot how to drive next! I have to give BW credit for making the enemies sound creepy. I hear the Banshee's have a high pitch scream. It will be Bioshock's big sister all over again.

On a off note....does this bother anyone else??? You know on all the Dragon Age games how you can click the DO NOT MOVE button and they won't move? Does anyone else wish Mass Effect had that? You position them sure but then they move out of position after a couple of minutes and jump into a area that makes no sense!! I spend a lot of my time just making sure they stay put. Best example I can think of is Garrus mission with Harkin with the big mechs. I tell them to get behind something and somehow they move straight out into the open where they can die in 5 secs. All you can then hear is me yelling what are you doing!!!! Ok rant is over!

YES!  Every time I do LotSB somebody wanders over right next to the lightning capacitors and I kill my squad.  Why won't they stay put?

I would have been fine with Kaidan only having his prologue/Horizon cameos, if they didn't try their damndest to make you hate him and then hook up with a sparkly new LI from ME2. <_<

*is totally FPS challenged* The only one I was slightly good at was Goldeneye 64.

In fact, with more and more RPGs becoming action oriented (compared to older JPGs like Shadow Hearts, Suikoden, Final Fantasy, etc), I'm starting to think I just suck at video games in general. I always have to play on easy/casual mode.

Not only that, I'd like to actually be able to take control of your companions like you can in DA, instead of dying and getting the "Game Over cuz Shepard is dead, even though your other characters are still standing, trollololol". Argh. :pinched:

lol  The first time I ran into a Thresher Maw on my first me1 playthrough I screamed like a little girl and yelled at the screen until it went away.  Of course by this time I'd learned to drive the Mako.  I drove it off the cliffs of Noveria on my first attempt.  Image IPB
And YES!  My squaddies are constantly running into the open and getting killed.  I gave up trying to control them and just fire away, sometimes killing them in the process with the Cain (first time was totally an accident!) or those darn lightning rods in LotSB.
And a bit of randomness, I got to thinking about what sort of music Kaidan would like.  I can totally see him diggin' some secret guilty pleasures - like the ME equivalent of Tom Jones or Wayne Newton.  That thought just makes me smile like an idiot.  Image IPB

PS: little game tip
if you want to effectively take out Thorian Creepers use the Anti-Thorian Grenades you get on your way back to Zhu's Hope
They may knock out colonists, but they are also super-effective against the Creepers
