This is a result of taking snapshots during posing characters to a scene. Some of them are, while plain, kind of nice, I make tons of them to see and pick up the best to "photoshop" later:

Shepard: *sneezes* I told you getting naked in that snow drift on Novaria was a bad idea
Kaidan : funny, I seem to recall it being your idea in the first place

Kaidan : Just keep your distance Shepard. I definitely don't want whatever it is you have. Sneezing plays hell with my biotics, I really don't want to sneeze and see the crew floating around the Normandy's ceiling.
Shepard : Oh I don't know, that biotic attack could come in handy, you could just sneeze the reapers back into dark space.
Kaidan : I think you're overdue for some R & R Shepard.
Shepard : Well I do know this little snow drift on Novaria................

I just wanted to thank all the good people who saved the Horizon letter audio! I've been having computer problems and couldn't get on here, and if it weren't for all of you, I would've missed out! (Why would they take that masterwork down is beyond me, but at least y'all had the foresight to save it.)

Mr, Sbarge's take on it was different than what I heard in my head as I read it, but I like his version better anyway. God that man has a fantastic voice!

Oh and I caught up on Once Upon a Time, and I actually like it a lot. Raphael was the main focus of last night's episode, and it was very good.

Wow i didn't realise how easy it is to cancel the romance with Kaidan in me1, figured id try and get the 'triangle' scene to pop up this time as ive always avoided it in the past. One convo with liara completely cancelled the kaidan romance though and i was deliberatley trying to avoid any preference options (ie kai is special whilst talking to liara and vice versa). One swift replay through of virmire later and problem sorted. Its made me a lot more weary of chatting to liara though!

However i just started Ilos and my 2 year old son has wondered past and shut mass effect down for me, so now ill have to rewatch the pre-ilos scene again........ such a shame!

On that note, have any of you clever flycam wielding people recorded the ilos scene from different angles and made it into a vid? The only thing that bugs me about that convo is that kaidan spends a large part of it as just the back of his head and you only get to see femsheps expressions, should be mixed up a bit more!

I'm really happy that he was pleased by the general response.  It was so cool how people who don't even count Kaidan as one of their favorites in the series came out and thanked him.  Hopefully this means good things for more fan interaction in the future...

I hate that so much! It drives me crazy. I don't care how Shepard is looking, I want to see Kaidan! I mean, for me the best part of the locker scene is the expression on Kaidan's face after he and Shep separate. There's so much emotion there and I love it. I always feel cheated having to stare at my Shepard instead of seeing what Kaidan is feeling before Ilos.

Sorry, I've been holding that rant in since I first played Mass Effect in June.

Meh. I totally agree. Whoever decided to position the camera where they did was an utter fail. <_< That's my biggest gripe with the Kaidan romance in ME1.

I remember seeing a post on tumblr about Kaidan's romance that said, "What you want: (picture of Kaidan shirtless) What you get: (picture of Shepard's butt)" lol.

I mean really. I know my Shepard is beautiful, BUT COME ON!

I'm actually surprised no one else has made a comment in regards to new fans. Quite a few people I've come across have only been inducted to the ME franchise via the second installation. So, am I the only one who feels bad for them? Think about it, not only have they missed out on all the little cookies you can gather from the 1st game, but they never get the chance to meet Ashley/Kaidan on a personal level. Their first impression of the VS is of wangst and over emotional b*tching no thanks to the Horizon encounter. This managed to alienate a few fans from the 1st game, but think about how someone new to the ME universe sees these two.

I do not count Genesis as an effective tool for emotionally engaging the new players. It's just a quick-start method to get the best outcomes. (I suppose that's the point but...)

Am I alone in this belief? Or have I just jumped off the wtf paddy wagon?

You're definitely right ames4u about many new players introduced via ME2. Genesis doesn't help at all really. There's so much stuff to tell, choices to make that there'e barely any time left to present the characters. Not to mention, most new players bought ME2 when there was no Genesis. So they basically only know Ash/Kaidan from first impression which I doubt was great for many of them.

I suspect that the scene wasn't doing what they wanted it to do, so they improvised with camerawork.  There are a lot of little details that can only be seen with flycam, but there's a lot of graphical glitches too.

As for shirtless Kaidan, well...  :innocent:

Then we were talking about the plot and I had to explain that the Citadel was a relay which we had to keep an indoctrinated Saren from activating, the Keepers were re-engineered by the Reapers to maintain the Citadel but it's okay to have them around because they've evolved beyond the Reaper's control, and about the Prothean beacon/cipher/Liara's part in the plot. He was surprised by how much story he had missed. Personally, I couldn't play a game I had missed so much of, but I'm the kind of person who refuses to watch a movie if I missed the first five minutes until a time when I can see it from the beginning. It works well enough for them, however.

The hardest thing to get if you've started from ME2 is why Cerberus is bad. Or, more precisely, why everyone tells you that Cerberus is bad while all you see about them (at least in beginning of game) is positive. This doesn't help Horizon at all.

I'm the same, there's no way I could play something where I've missed so much.  Its a shame that some peoples first experience with Kaidan and Ash are negative ones.  The stupid comic doesn't fill the player  in nearly enough of what happened in ME1.

Argh, this would be the perfect place for the "My Boyfriend is Kaidan, you've probably never heard of him" picture... but I can't find it.

I don't see how anyone could play ME2 without playing ME1 first. (I know, PS3 players can't get ME1, damned Microsoft) Heck, I just zoomed through my first ME1 PT and only did the main story, and I had no idea who Cerberus was either. So after my first non-import PT of ME2, I made sure to go back and play ME1 in it's entirety.

DA is different because each game is a separate story, with a new protagonist, but ME is a trilogy! You can't skip stuff in a trilogy! Imagine watching The Empire Strikes Back before a New Hope, or Return of the Jedi before either of them. How lost do you think you'd be?

I had a very intelligent conversation with a friend that wanted to try Mass Effect. I told him to start with ME1 then on to ME2 to get the best experience possible.
Then the rest of the conversation proceeded to be "Why does that matter?/So?/I don't see why I should."

I did accomplish in getting him to play Oblivion, which made him get Skyrim, and then DAO. I also got him to play New Vegas for a day, in which he had to complain about how teh game is screwing him up because he just kills people. He usually only plays Call of Dooty, yes.

Googled, I have no idea who gets credit for it but it isn't me.

That is exactly why I've only ever seen the Star Wars movie that first came out- I can never catch them in order unless the movie has already started and I refuse to watch them out of order even if I know what's going to happen or come in mid-movie.

@ Batteries I have a friend I tried to introduce to BioWare games and she said if she wanted to read a story she'd grab a book.

Lol, mine got frustrated at the dialogue in Orgins after I told him more than once that this game will take him many hours to complete. Like, in the double digit hours, friend.
Then I told him multiple times that the people in the game are like real people; they'll have their own personalities and views and opinions on whatever.

Of course, he then complains about it and the third person view when he started playing. And about missing things he should do because he just skipped the dialogue because he didn't feel like listening. He enjoyed the game and the expansion, nevertheless.
