BEAUTIFUL. <3
Somebody Tweet this at Casey Hudson or one of the ME3 devs on Twitter! The need for catsuit-gender-equality must be known!

Are there any blokes to compare to Kaidan in it? As this is the most important question about any game, obviously.
Also, I laughed so hard at the catsuit pic

I've never actually played it, but I had bought it to add to my pile of games-to-play ...
ironically enough while alot of people seem to dislike Kaidan due to sharing the same VA with some Carth character, that'S part of the reason why I gave in and got it ...
we'll have to wait and see how things play out - pun intended
(PS: no spoilers please)

Ahh KOTOR is fantastic, played it a few years back, still have it. You're in for a great time with that game
The story is really good. I actually really liked Carth's voice which is why I was like, YAY when I first realized Kaidan was the same VA.

probably should ad Jade Empire to the list as well
while I was semi-active on the internet, did I miss any ME3 news on Kaidan aside from the alternate appearance pseudo-reveal (because as all things it might still change ... )

Jade Empire on the other hand has a VERY original story line, as I haven't seen anything like it in another game since. If you find the time I definitely recommend playing both. xD

Oh dear. Sky beats Thane easily in this question. That's why most of my characters stayed single in JE.IsaacShep wrote...

The dialogue about breaking the fourth wall is still good, though.

Ash also seems to have gotten a commission and jumped another rank between ME2 and ME3, so Kaidan may very well have made Captain... or Major. Alliance ranks can be confounding.
Not really confounding, they just use naval ranks (where captains are higher in rank as they are ship commanders) instead of air force or army ranks (in which captain is a lower rank with no particular significance).

Okay, I won't give you spoilers, Criz, but I will say have patience with Carth's character arc as a female PC (whoops, almost dropped a death-star sized spoiler there). Get past the part that makes people call him whiny and you will be in for a treat. Also, don't always be deadly serious with him. He likes to tease, and will give as good as he gets
All the characters in KOTOR come off as a bit whiny because one of the ways they infodrip the player is by having a great deal of the early conversations with companions literally be about why they can't have a conversation with the PC. With Carth it's that he doesn't trust you at all, hence "whiny."
And yea, I agree, being a dick to Carth - and Bastila - is the best. But I did that as a male PC.

started out as a male character, should I switch to female?
for some odd reason I prefer playing as a guy even though I'm female when given the choice, but if there's romance along the way (I accept that much of a spoiler

KOTOR and Jade Empire were the first games that got me into the love I have for Bioware. The story lines they created are awesome, and you will spend many hours playing them, as I did.I actually really liked Carth's character, I can slightly understand why people don't like him, but I got past the 'whiny side' very quickly...besides...I found Bastila more annoying than him.

I know it's not the norm amongst female players, but I LOVED Bastila and didn't like Carth very much on my first playthrough of KOTOR. It's one of the only games I would play as male, just to see a romance. I just thought the connection between the PC and Bastila was stronger, and I liked her personality, even as a female character who only knew her as a friend.
Carth, on the other hand, suffered, in my opinion, because he started with the "I don't trust you" thing way too early. While the two are on Taris, Carth is the commanding officer, and the PC can be a veritable saint, but it doesn't matter. Carth still acts like you've done something heinous. Once you leave Taris, he has some valid concerns, but I think for most people, the damage is already done when it comes to the player's impression of him. I liked him a lot more on a subsequent playthrough where I actually did his romance, but I still understand why others don't love him.
EDIT: oooh, just saw Chig's new pic, LOVELY!

The sex of the protagonist doesn't matter that much beyond who your romance - if anyone - Carth or Bastila. I'd genuinely recommend a male PC because of the MAINPLOT IMPORTANCE of Bastila.
However, if you're going to play through the game twice (light and dark side are really different experiences) then I'd recommend Male PC Darkside and Female PC Lightside, for reasons I really can't explain without major endgame/romance spoilers.
If you're just playing once, I'd go Male PC Lightside as that's pretty good and also happens to be the "canon" (TOR says so). Just finished a playthrough of that for livestream last week.
