the one qualification I would add is - "it feels like" the situation partly through lack of writing and partly on purpose is vague enough to allow for variety of emotions to be felt and expressed.

for Jade - it felt like Kaidan betrayed her and dumped her.
for Johari - it felt like he let her down, like he wasn't quite the person she thought he was.
for Leah - it was just a fight, their first one and can be dealt with.

but what kills me is not the fact that for some people's Shepard is felt like betrayal. what kills me is that that one scene invalidates everything that happened with Kaidan before. what kills me are people who didn't like him in a first place, but romanced him anyways cause he was there, and then blame HIM alone for Horizon. people who interpret in a worst possible way everything that he has ever said, people who use any excuse to fuel their hate and use GARRUS as a prop for it.

I hate that. I especially love the "he dropped everything" argument. I adore Garrus, but he had NOTHING left to drop by the time Shepard comes to get him, and he got seriously wounded, so its not like he had an initial choice. he did wake up though to a familiar face and probably got explanations behind the scenes.

to compare those 2 circumstances is just.. erroneous, sorry. compare him with Tali, Liara and Wrex if you must. at least their situations are similar.

Kaidan has flaws. everyone has flaws. no one is perfect. but some Garrus fans thing GARRUS is even more perfect then the most fangirly poster here thinks about Kaidan, and they use Kaidan as a prop, as that horrible, no redeeming features whatsoever, that **** ex to bash, becasue apparently - that makes Garrus sound even better. it doesn't. they are 2 different people who were probably friends back in a day, or at least friendly allies.

I wish Bioware never emphasize those goddam idiotic circumstances for cheating (cheating? really?) I have a feeling its part of the problem, a big part. they see Kaidan as a threat, so they villanize him

The moved on topic is silly.  Everyone responds differently to Horizon from a gamer standpoint or how they role-play their specific Shepard.  When I'm posting a comment, it's my take on the scene in the game and it has nothing to do with someone else and their character.  I'll never understand why there are those that take it personally when someone does not share their viewpoint or immediately thinks what is said is about them. I couldn't care less what others do in their games.  And I bet I'm not alone in that regard.

@jacqui - You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.  I hope everything is okay now.  Also, the MP3 for charity is such a clever idea.  And I like the outgoing message about fighting Reapers.

(I've edited this about four times even removing the top section completely because I did not want to offend anyone and I was a bit repetitive.  So I apologize to English majors everywhere.  But since Anj snagged it, I put it back.)

No you are not alone. I think a lot like you :) As long as I can play and have my own opinion about happenings in the game, I don't care what other do in their playthroughs.

I'm always interested to read about other point of views. It's fascinating  to see how different people can see the same story through their eyes, but I don't like when one just thinks his/her point of view is the only solution and then can't accept that others don't think this way.

And I hope I made sense, otherwise excuse my bad English

Ugh, I do not like trying to argue with people who think their playthrough is the only playthrough and everyone who doesn't agree is an idiot (luckily, I haven't had that problem in this thread). I like to hear other people's opinions and what they do in their playthrough too, and am not going to demand that they change things because it doesn't agree with what I think. Sometimes I think that people make some characters way too "out of character" (like abusive Kaidan) in order to suit their needs, but whatever, if that's the way they want to play it, that's their choice. Sometimes it just makes it harder to see their point of view, because they had to skew the characters to get there.

So whatever anyone has their Shepard feel about Kaidan on Horizon, roleplaying reasons or otherwise, is cool with me, as long as whatever I had my Shepards do is cool with them. :)

I don't believe someone has to think Kaidan's "flawless" or a "giant fuzzy cuddleball" just because they believe he wasn't wrong on Horizon. It's the simple matter of having a different opinion.

Now we are getting into why I love the Shepard Kaidan cake so much. They are both flawed people who got into a relationship they probably really shouldn't have gotten into. Sparkle on the drama of Horizon and I'm all *NOM NOM NOM* But we have to remember ME2 doesn't complete the cake. We need to see what the ME3 icing add to the final product.

Yes, I compared Kaidan and Shepard to a cake. Yep, that just happened... Maybe I'm hungry...

Over time I have come to the place where I don't see betrayal on either side...they were just two people who were falling in love (or already in love however you chose to see it) who became the victims of circumstance. Just when things began between them they were torn apart by Shepard's death. Pain on both sides. Seeing each other probably would remind them of what they both lost and bring up all that pain. I could see it taking a while for both of them to deal with it. Just my viewpoint for my Femshep. Back to lurking for now.

Why not peanut butter pie? It's all light and fluffy, but then you put it in the freezer and it hardens...

about taking things personally - here's a situation for you. imagine you are sitting on a bus and someone next to you is chatting... and making terrible racist etc statements. and they just keep talking and talking and talking, and at first you just try to move away. but you take that bus to work every day and you keep running into the same people and their conversation just gets more and more offensive. they are not talking about you specifically, but... how long until you cannot tolerate it anymore?

what if the hate they are spewing as related to you in some way after all?

differences in opinions are fine. different interpretations are fine. but bashing, gleeful hate, constant comparisons made solely to show the loser in as unfavorable light as possible etc, etc, how long do you manage to keep your eyes selectively blind?

I can never manage to maintain that, sorry.

*Stopping in because she was told by someone that she should*

@ Siri & Aslan:

What? You mean I'm able to have my own view of the *cough* H word. Really?

I mean really, really? Come on.... no one is going to see my game but me? How can that be? I mean they want to tell me who I can love and who I can *word for sex*.

Now you're saying it's okay if I'm not the center of the universe and no one cares what I do?

Pffft come on Siri, everyone knows I am the center of the Universe -

(for all you new people that don't know some of us old KASTers... if you think this post is serious... well it just proves you don't know me. But I am truly the center of the universe. Ask Aslan.)

Don't wanna comment on Kaidan hate under that comic, I'm just gonna say that for every FemShep that leaves Kaidan for Garrus, there's a ManShep waiting with for him open arms ^^ So Kai doesn't have to worry he'll be loved by less Sheps ^^ <3

Since I'm the one that said take things personally, I suppose I have to clarify what I meant.  I was discussing how there are posters that assume comments are directed at them or their Shepard instead of just being that person's perspective on the game.  I've never played ME and thought about another Shepard or gamer.  They were decisions, which fit my Shepard that had nothing to do with anyone else.  So when I feel as though I have something to add to a discussion, my comments are representative of myself, my Shepard or I'm in a goofy mood and posting nonsense.  And it could be any combination of the three.

P.S. - I learned a long time ago to avoid fanfic and fanart comments because they will give you a headache.
