One random question about ME1, happened because this time I didn't go to Therum immediately after Citadel.

When you don't do main quests and just wander around galaxy doing sidequests, if it just me or Kaidan gets something to say far later than the rest? I've found the situation where Ashley, Garrus, Tali and Wrex all want to talk, but Kaidan "wasted enough of your time". And this was femShep playthrough who picked all paragon options while talking to him before, so it can't be that I'm not "gender appropriate" or screwed up relationships.

In fact, Kaidan didn't want to talk until first completed main quest (Noveria)... and, to be honest, if I weren't totally sure from previous playthroughs that this character worth trying to talk with again and again, I'd give up at that moment and left him at console... how much this added to negative impression on other gamers, I wonder.

Ooo, I just did ME1 so I know what you're talking about. After the Citadel, Garrus, Wrex, Tali, and Ashley all would talk to me, but Kaidan wouldn't until I completed Therum. However, with Ashley that balanced out, because after I did Feros, before going to Virmire, she gave me the "I have to clean weapons, can't talk" line.

The way Kaidan is presented doesn't really give a good impression if you play a male character, IMO. If you're female, after Eden Prime you can talk to Kaidan and Ashley. If you're male, you can only talk to Ashley. After the Citadel, Ashley will talk to you, but Kaidan won't. Conspiracies afoot!

I was just talking to a male friend of mine about this.  He couldn't understand why I liked Kaidan so much since "you can't really talk to him" (he plays as mShep).  I was like Image IPB.  When I started my mShep playthrough I finally got what he was saying.  Right after Eden Prime, you can't even talk to Kaidan.  All he says is, "I'm glad you're okay, Commander" whereas with fShep you can actually talk about your background.  I mean, they should've allowed both Kai and Ash to talk to Shep no matter the gender.

Yeah, his presentation for mShep sucks. It's even worse considering you CAN talk to Ash after Eden Prime if you play as FemShep...

I'm replaying through ME and ME2 atm. In ME I've found Kaidan only speaks after doing main missions *shrug* I've never told them to kill everyone on feros...how does that turn out? I mean as far as consequences and such?

I'm gonna "whisper" you my age MICHELLE7, lol.

I hope you help to remove them cause I can't see a thing. :D

I don't remember all the details of how it turned out...been a while since I played a renegade Shep of ME1...I know you get a different news feed and if I'm not mistaken the guy you can buy from on Feros is gone afterwards. I don't know...all I can remember is Kaidan running crazy. But then again if I remember anything it'll more than likely have something to do with Kaidan.

For me playing renegade in ME1 was a blast...not so much in ME2. I felt like a few of the renegade dialog choices had Shep kinda agreeing with TIM and I really wanted to rip TIM's head off.

Yeah i'm doing an Me1 playthrough atm as a renegon and kaidan only ever seems to have something to say after main missions, ashley has had one chat not after main missions and tali, garrus and wrex seem to enjoy talking my ear off. Not tried talking to Liara much this playthrough as i got a little freaky with the romance tags last playthrough. I still wander up and talk to kaidan anyhow, just to hear that voice....

I think Kai and Ash only have something to say after the main missions.  I'm replaying ME1 right now as well and have done only Therum and Noveria.  I've been doing side missions before getting to Feros and all I get from both Kai and Ash is "I've wasted enough of your time, Commader. We'll have time for personal debriefings later."/"I'd better get back to my station. These rifles don't maintain themselves".

Edited to say that the first time I played, I kept going up to Kaidan after every single mission (both main and side) just to hear if he had anything more to say, lol. That's how I learned that it's only after main missions when they'll talk.

I've only gotten Codex info from Tali and Garrus, and Wrex just told me about his family armor (which was the last side mission I did last night before going to bed).  I've also been avoiding Liara, lol. I think the only time I approached her was after Noveria just to talk about Benezia.

Lol!  I do the same thing!  Go up and talk to Kaidan just to hear his voice. I do it all the time during missions, too, lol. It's funny if you "talk" to him in the middle of a battle ("Not now, Commander!"). Cracks me up every time 'cause I imagine my Shep just going up to him for a nice chat and there's rockets and mass effect projections flying all around.

In my first playthroughs I also used to talk to him after every mission. Heard the: "I've wasted enough of your time, Commander" quite a lot. Like Kaidan could waste my time even if he tried.. <_<

I also talk to him during the missions. It's like...."Hey, Kaidan...While we're hiding here behind these crates...I want to talk about our relationship." :P Of course the only reply I get is "Not now, Commander".

I'm in a rant mode. Why is it that you never see peole who hate VS after Horizon talking about Anderson's KEY role in the entire Horizon mess? Ash & Kaidan flat out say he tried to keep information about Shep being alive from them and stop them from investigating missing colonies. Yet it seems this fact gets ignored, just as the fact Anderson refuses to tell you anything about VS when you ask him about it on the Citadel. Is it because Anderson's is Shepard's Obi-Wan Kenobi and thus he's seen as crystal-clear, pristine and would never do no wrong? Yet then we also see him conspiring with Cerberus in LOTSB???

Catching up...

I am *old*, and getting even older this week... So, neener neener, you whippersnappers! /shakescane

As for MP - I'd be on the PC platform, and while I have plenty of MMO group experience, I really suck at the PvP parts, so would be more of a speed bump than an asset ;). But I'm happy to be a speed bump for any in this fine group of Kaidan fans!

Working through my first ME1 replay (with Kaidan again, yay!) simultaneously with my first ME2 replay (single fShep who will romance Thane again). Now that I've played with biotics, that ME1 soldier seems so limited... It's interesting going back and forth - but those key remappings are especially annoying to keep track of! And I'm sure there will be yet another configuration for ME3, sigh.

Isaac: I agree. Kaidan talks about Anderson stonewalling him about that information. And I hate that he doesn't completely stand up for you when you first meet with the Council in ME2. I try to justify his actions as that Shep's with Cerberus, and he doesn't want to give him/her too much information. But you bring up a good point with LotSB. Seems like there's more to Anderson than he lets on. I haven't read the books or read the comics so I don't know much about him other than the information I've gathered from playing the games.

Annaka: Lol! Exactly..."So, Kaidan...*missile flies overhead*...what are you doing later?"

Edit: @Lyriel25: I know what you mean.  My very first playthrough I started off as soldier then switched to vanguard in ME2. I can't believe how I got through ME1 without those biotics!  I'm replaying ME1 right now and deliberately chose soldier (just because they're the only class that can use all weapons).  It's taking a little getting used to, but I think I'm definitely switching to either vanguard or adept once I import that character into ME2.

Anderson doesn't stop kai/ash from investigating the colonies, he actually states that he ok'ed the mission to horizon. He does stonewall kai/ash and shep though, pass as to why, concerned kai/ash would run off to cereberus too perhaps? Or maybe just concerned they'd be too distracted with info on shep returning that it might hinder their mission? Or maybe he just wanted to figure out what the hell shep was up to first? Personally i like the last theory the best there.
I'm sure Anderson does wrong, he is divorced after all lol ;)

I agree that its weird no one is really mad at Anderson for that. But I can't agree on actually being mad at Anderson. I see it as Anderson protecting Kaidan and Shepard. If you return to him after Horizon and talk to him again about Kaidan, he will explain why he didn't give Shepard full disclosure about Kaidan. He isn't sure Shepard isn't being controlled by Cerberus. Miranda said it herself, there was talk of using a control chip on Shepard. He isn't going to tell a possible Cerberus mole where a important Alliance officer is.

As for the Cerberus agent Anderson meets with, that could very well be an Alliance spy in Cerberus. I very much doubt Anderson would betray the Alliance by talking to a Cerberus agent. More like the agent is betraying Cerberus. He could be passing Anderson information on what Cerberus is doing, and if Shepard is okay, etc.

Ohhhh! I never knew that! Very interesting. Then he indeed tried to separate them. Still doesn't really make Shepard wouldn't contact VS some other way, but that's part of railroading Shep into conflict with VS by not giving him options to do things the players would want to do.

Didn't TIM start the rumors about Shepard being alive and working for Cerberus before Shepard had even woken up? Anderson says something about how he sent the VS to Horizon because of the rumors about Cerberus kidnapping colonists before they even heard the rumors about Shepard. For all we know, the stonewalling was before Shepard goes to meet with Anderson on the Citadel, and wouldn't really be stonewalling the VS because they were only rumors and Anderson didn't actually know anything. Without knowing exactly when the exchange between the VS and Anderson took place, it's hard to tell.

Apparently it's just easy to hate the VS, instead of people who created the circumstances for Horizon (Anderson, Liara, TIM, etc). <_<

Well, now that it's mentioned, I'm kinda irked at Anderson for doing that. Heck, the whole ME2 situation annoyed me. They never gave me the freakin' option to announce to the world how much I hate Cerberus and disowned them and all. <_< Talk about Railroading.

Neither have I, honestly. I haven't even played as a new character, I've just remade my original Shep a few times and played the games exactly the same as I did the first time (well, maybe doing a few more/less sidequests and stuff). I will admit to pushing a guy out of a window, however... Livin' on the wild side right there.

I'm just glad the canon is male and that they didn't bring carth back too and do the same thing to him. In my head, my Revan is fine and is not related at all to BW's canon Revan.

I'm not a tester, but I did read the atrocity known as Star Wars The Old Republic Revan novel, so I can imagine Revan's role in SWTOR is less than desirable. (I think someone in the KotOR franchise misunderstood the fans when they said they wanted Revan back. <_<)

Since we're talking about SWTOR, here's my favorite aimo pic:

I like this pic, makes me want to go play Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic on X-Box. So the novel Star Wars Darth Revan is bad. I just want to know what happen to Revan also the Exile. I wonder in ME 3 what would be the first words to tell Kaidan.

Well why would Shepard contact Kaidan? Yes, if Shepard romances Kaidan they love each other and so on. But ME2 reminds you a million times that they are on a suicide mission. What if Shepard contacts Kaidan again? They get together. Have another loving moment. Then Shepard dies again in the suicide mission. What would that do to Kaidan? I like to think that Shepard understood that. Hints the the reason for the derpy dialogue on Horizon. They can't just pick up where they left off. Any good intentions got kind of messed up by the argument.

If Shepard isn't romantic then they are only friends. How much resources and time should Shepard waste trying to find one person?

Oh, I can tell you in a PM, if you'd like. It's really terrible.

I have both KotOR games on XBox, but I got them on the PC because they play horribly on the XBox. :pinched:

I think Shepard talk to Kaidan before the sucide mission.

Shepard: "Kaidan I am going through the Omega 4 relay to stop the Collectors. So if I am still alive after the mission is done. I will come back an tell you that I told TIM to kiss my ass. Oh yeah I don't trust Cerberus either."
