Is there a flag in the game to remmber if Kaidan's renegade or not like with Garrus? To the best of my knowledge it didn't affect horizon any, then again I only have one renegade Kaidan and its been quite a while since I've played that particular Shep.

If ME2 doesn't care about flag, it will be not recognised by save editor as having any effect. The best that can be said now, ME2 doesn't check if VS was paragoned / renegaded.

Yeah, I have a feeling that a lot of the little details may get ignored...especially some of the smaller things from ME1.

Yay! I've seen several santa pics for Vega and was hoping to see one of Kaidan...this is awesome:D

It is tied with the look on his face after the last Sovereign fight, where he and whichever other teammate are hunkered down.  The glace back to where Shepard was is heartbreaking.

Spoken lines though, after the Joker'swaiting- he says "I swear if anything happens to you..." is touching.
