All by looking at Father Kaidan.
Yes he has taken over Santa for me now. *evil laugh*

diraemythos
Shepard: "Dear Santa Kaidan, I want a new omni-tool, mods for my mattock heavy rifle, and a pony!"
Kaidan: "Siiiiigh, really Shepard?"
Shepard: "Fine, you wanna go make-up in the storage room again?"
Kaidan: "....Meet you there in five."

me and a friend have been talking about Kaidan, well the only relationship he ever talks about was rahna BUT i told my friend that she was only a friend not bed buddy, so when he and shep did it before ILOS was he like some 32yr old VIRGIN?

I don't think so. I think that after Rhana he never let anyone get too close and he left himself a way out. He obviously had to feel something for who he was with but never let himself get too involved until Shepard.
Totally agree.

I also think that being a biotic had a lot to do with it. Up until Eden Prime he'd always held back and I think it was the same with his emotions. I think he was scared of how people would react to him after rhana was afraid of him, so he held back. That's why I found it strange in ME2 when Chakwas mentioned him giving Jenkins a biotic display, to me it didn't seem like something he would do given Rhanas reaction and the general reaction to biotics especially L2's, although Jenkins probably badgered him incessantly, lol.
Sesheta...I never thought about that but you're right...it doesn't seem like something Kaidan would do if his history is considered...just goes to show how little I paid attention to things when I first played the game...I was so rattled about Horizon and the fact I couldn't have Kaidan on my team that I kind of played the rest of the game in a zombie state. Didn't notice much of what was going on in game. Replaying has been easier knowing that Kaidan will be available for ME3.

Oh, you're thinking of Alistair.
I think Kaidan was with others before Shepard, at least in between Jump Zero and when he came back to enlist with the Alliance, but I don't think there was as much on the line for him with anyone else. I mean, he's not just risking his feelings with Shepard. If things didn't work out, it could mean his career. You can tell he really does put a lot of thought into it before making any moves on Shepard.

I always thought this happened after a few beers on shore leave and Jenkins was pestering Kaidan. And clearly Kaidan held back. There's no jumping up at yelling "That was awesome!" after one of Kaidan's biotic kicks if he means it. It seems like a funny story where maybe Kaidan's trying to fit in with the rest of the crew. And maybe make his powers seem a little less mysterious and scary.

No, I'm afraid only the most recent playthrough will carry over when you import the level 60. It doesn't "overwrite" the first playthrough, so for instance when you start ME2 you could import your level 45ish character OR your level 60 character. But the level 60 character will only include what you did on that second playthrough.
Honestly, though, if you are level 45 going into Ilos, if you don't do any more side missions you will probably be 49ish when you finish? And my experience has been that you really need to be at least level 52 at the start of a playthrough to get level 60 - and that still means doing all the side missions, getting out of the Mako to kill enemies, etc. The level curve from 50 to 60 (esp. 57-60) is VERY steep.
Don't worry, it'll be fun
Sorry for the late reply! Wow, you're not kidding. Usually I just start a new playthrough with a different Shepard, and this is the first time I use the same Shepard for a second playthrough. I've done Therum and Feros so far (no side missions yet) and I've only made it to level 53. I'll probably finish up Noveria tonight just to see how many more levels I can advance, then do all the side missions before Virmire.
You know, it has been fun. I love the fact that you keep all your armor and weapons from your first playthrough so it's all been a breeze. The only deterrent is that I changed the difficulty to Veteran...damn but those Thorian creepers on Feros are hard to kill. Kaidan and Garrus must have died on me like ten times. Also, I have this weird glitch where Kaidan won't follow me. He'll just stand in one place until the game automatically respawns him near me. It's so frustrating...especially since, biotically, he's very useful on Feros. Anyway, thanks for the info!

Ooh! I've gotten that glitch on Feros too! It's super annoying, he just stays down in the tunnels. I went back out to the main menu and reloaded my save, it usually seems to work.
I'm working on getting to level 60 too. I was at 52 by the time I was done at the Citadel. *fingers crossed* I guess if it looks like I'm not going to make it I can jump out of the mako and go thresher maw hunting. Even though they scare the bejesus out of me in ME1.

I know he wasn't with Rahna because he pretty much flat out says it. But I, too, believe that he's been with a couple of women before Shepard. However, I think this is the first time (Rahna included) where he's felt something so deep and profound for someone. The would explain him being a bit hesitant in pursuing anything with Shepard...he has conflicting emotions - he's starting to fall for his commanding officer but that's against the rules.
As for the biotic kick, I agree with sesheta's idea. I can totally see Anderson asking Kaidan to do that just to sort of quell any rumors about biotics in general (don't really know if anyone else knows Kaidan is an L2).

As for Kaidan's biotic display I see him using lift on Jenkins rather than doing a biotic kick.

Lol! Yeah and when he respawns, he'll go all Leeroy Jenkins on me - running ahead of me and Garrus like he's on some sort of suicide mission. His health was also at zero the whole mission, too. He only had his shields for some odd reason.
I'll definitely be jumping out of the Mako for everything. At the rate I'm going, I'm afraid I'm only going to make it to 58 when the game ends which would suck so much! Ugh, I hate Thresher Maws, too. Every time I'm crossing through a flat surface, I'm gripping my control just waiting for that sucker to come out. The funny thing is that even though I'm waiting for it, I still get scared and jump in the air when he finally comes out, lol.

That's my reasoning for seeing Shepard as his soulmate. He may have had flings before but Shepard is the first one he really gave his heart to. I bascially see him as a romantic but then that's just how I role play my Femshep. And I know...really very sappy.
As for the thresher maws...I loved killing those things on foot.

The only time I kill the thresher maw on foot is in ME 2, and in the ME 1 I use the Mako. With Kaidan I think it was love a first sight.

I've always thought Threshers were difficult to kill on foot so I just never bothered with them and used the Mako. I'll definitely be hunting them now, though, so I could get to level 60.
My canon Shep was a little surprised to realize she had feelings for Kaidan. There was that attraction to him that she tried to set aside but after he asked her if she gets to know all her crew, she realized that she was starting to have feelings for him as more than friends. I love that response to him - "No...no, I don't".

I used the mako for my first few playthroughs but when I found out you could get more experience for killing it on foot I tried it out and loved it.
And to add some Kaidan:

How long does it take you to kill it on foot? It took me forever in ME2 and that was with the missile launcher. Do you have any strategies you'd like to share?
