Got a quick question: I've never imported a maleshep into ME2...if he's unromanced will the VS(Kaidan) be the one to appear at the beginning just as the Normandy is going down?

The one from possible ME1 LI you've talked to most / was the friendliest to. So almost all my Shepards got Kaidan.

Sure it has nothing to do with how friendly Shep was. My Shep never talked to Kaidan at all and he still came to him during the Normandy scene.

Liara only comes up if Shep romanced her or if you're playing the PS3 version.

Okay thanks everybody...I had just imported a maleshep that I thought had romanced Liara and when Kaidan showed up I thought something was wrong but it looks like this is an unromanced Sheploo. Took the renegade options when talking to Kaidan...first time ever for that...geez Maleshep was kinda rough on him.

Strange - I definitely saw the statement that person appearing is based on "romance progess" value (which can be seen in Gibbed). But, of course, I can be wrong about Liara appearing there - for most of my Shepards Ashley and Kaidan usually have bigger values in that fields anyway.

And about "freak out" moment - initially I thought that romance flag is present in ME1 save if you didn't turn Ash/Kaid off, so to create "romanced Ashley and left her on Virmire" I've checked "romanced Ashley" flag and "rescued Kaidan". Result - romance flag overrides Virmire flag at least in opening, and I've got Ashley rescued by power of love. And, of course, romance flag is really set after Citadel lockdown.

But I always thought it was romance > Ash/Kaidan (if you didn't have a romance). That's how it tends to work in my games anyway.

Edit: Nope it's what I thought. I just checked Rayne (mai adept ). His progress with Kaidan is 0 while Liara's at 2. Kaidan's the one who ran up to him.

It's known that any squadmate can carry any weapons limited only in number? Or characters can carry any weapons from their specialization - like, in theory, sniper squaddie can carry Widow? I still didn't figured out this question, but first seems to be unlikely because of balance.

If first is true, Kaidan is getting Sniper Rifle / Assault Rifle at my playthroughs. If some kind of limitations like "casters can pick only one big weapon", then SR / SMG. If casters can't carry anything heavier than pistols / SMG, then it's kinda obvious.

If second is true and, according to screenshots, Kaidan inevitably gets Shotgun - and likely SMG as second weapon, since Tali has pistol / SG - then it will be ones with biggest range. Geth Pulse Shotgun / Locust, likely, or another promised "sniping SG" - Graal (?). I generally don't like when squadmates try to get close to enemies.

Errm... I've always thought that "I will destroy you", "Enemies everywhere!", "GOGOGO!" and "Hold the line!" are random battle cries of mooks.

Kaidan's are "Yes!!!", "Finally, some action!" and something about end of battle - I remember "That's it. Bag 'em and tag 'em", but possibly something else. Saddest thing is that my favourite "prompted line" from Kaidan is "Yes, Sir". Might he call femShep "sir" as referring to superior officer?

Okay...the voices that call out in the middle of battle all sound the same to me...hard for me to tell which voice belongs to who. I would have loved for him to have that line though. I do remember the "Bag 'em and tag 'em" and "Finally some action"...but it's been a loooong time since I played ME1 and I don't remember the "Yes, Sir". Wonder what new lines he'll get for battle cries in ME3?

ETA:  as for that line..."Finally some action"....my Femshep is going to give him some action alright...but it isn't in the battlefield:devil:

I am so mad I was going to replay ME 2 on the hardest level, and I used my import ME 2 female Shepard, and it was acting like I didn't do the first playthrough of ME 2. Then I just decide to do it all over.

its alliance officer unless you romanced Liara.  they are technicaly highest ranked officer other then priestly, who'se well, dead, so I guess that makes them your XO at that point, which is why they run up to you.. and it really doesn't make much sense for Liara to be the one to run up, but I guess they wanted to give people who romanced her something extra?

P.S.  I have no idea what Kaidan will be using in my games.  I guess it will depend on what sort of skill set he will end up with.

2012 is off to an excellent start.  I've finally kicked my hangover, and it's only 65 days to ME3.

As much as I love my shotgun, and the idea of Kaidan holding one, I don't want him getting that close to enemies.  I'd rather have him stay back, use powers, and occaisonally bust out a sniper rifle.  It's effective range is just too short.

I haven't logged on in about 7months, however my determination to avoid spoilers is massively failing I have been lurking around tempting threads all day and have been nibbling at a good few spoiler crumbs. This has left me mostly confused concerning the VS so could someone who has read the script please tell me in their opinion without spoilers if they find Kaidan's storyline/romance to be good or disappointing? Also whether or not horizon is dealt with and concluded well?

I think that would depend on your shep and what actions you took. Like did you end up with anyone else? If so it is going to be a little more difficult than if you stayed loyal to Kaidan. From what I read I'm pretty happy with the storyline. I think there are some really beautiful romance scenes in there. Very steamy as Rapheal Sbarge said:devil: How Horizion is dealt with I think is done very well also. Every relationship has challenge though and you have to make the decision that is right for you. If done right you will make it through it together. Shep and Kaidan need to start to rebuild their friendship, trust, and reconnect again. That will take a little bit of time. Don't worry though! Things look very good and promising:D
