Just found out on Tumblr (screen shot of a tweet) that femshep is playable in the Demo, so we can get all our Kaidan's need :D

I picked Mass Effect up last January because I was obsessed with Dragon Age: Origins and kept hearing about BioWare's other awesome RPG. I tried infiltrator first and I never made it off the CItadel after becoming a SpecTRe. I mostly play fantasy RPGs so though the story seemed okay, the gameplay was kicking my butt and I kept getting lost. I decided I hated it and it got lost in my closet.

In June, almost six months later, I decided to give it another shot and I started over with a vanguard. I loved it and rushed through the entire game (I ignored most of the side quests) in 21 hours because I was having a blast with my vanguard and I was caught up in the main story.

Almost exactly my experience.  I loved DA:O and wanted to see what ME had to offer.  I started as Adept (I was thinking Space Mage), made it off the Citadel and got burned so many times on my first mission (on Casual, I might add) that I gave up for months.  I just couldn't understand why when Shepard died that I couldn't control another character a la DA.  Then I had all this time on my hands after a minor surgery and flew threw ME high on pain meds.  The battle for the Citadel was epic on that stuff!  Can't get enough of it since then.

ME, I mean, not the drugs.

There will also be choices generator (the part relevant to the demo obviously) included, so most likely we will be able to pick our VS no matter which gender Shep we're playing.

I went to watch 2 movies came back BAM two pages!! As for vanguards my Shep is a Vanguard, it just seems like the perfect medium and i LOVE charge! And ohh yes love my shot guns! I did Adept the first time around but i just enjoy having a good amount of weapons to choose from.. what also made me stick as Vanguard on my last playthrough was the omni blade vanguards get!! I needs it!! lol

It's funny, ME came out a week before I was sent home from work a few months early during my pregnancy. I couldn't sit up straight but I could recline and still work the x-box controller. I'm lucky the boy didn't come out glowing blue, I played so much :-)

I love having Kaidan with my biotic sheps. adding liara finishes the perfect team for crowd control

Kaid and Lia perfectly control crowd even without Shepard. Or at least their high leveled versions. Okay, guys, you're awesome but I'm trying to snipe here!

I'd call them "team discoteque" instead of "team crowd control". Barrier, Barrier, Neural Shock, Singularity - are you feel like dancing, ma'am? Especially Neural Shock - "hot pink explosion"... the manliest ability evar :)

Okay, guys, don't hate me for saying this, but as much as I really want to see Kaidan, I'd rather wait for the game. I want that awe/shock factor the first time I see him in ME3. Sorry! I'm excited for fShep, though! :D And I'm also looking forward to playing mp with y'all! :)

@mineralica: I don't know how many times I was lining up a shot with my sniper, and then the bad guy suddenly disappears in a rush of blue. I could picture my Shep glaring at Kaidan for stealing her shot, lol.

Choices for the demo? Sounds awesome!

As for Isaac's question about Vanguards in the last page:

My canon Shep, Emily (boring name, I know) is a Soldier. I'm trying out Vanguard in a playthrough of ME1, but it just doesn't fit my playstyle (I like to be the heavy hitting tank, taking the brunt of the damage and dishing out just as much). I'm finding it hard to adapt to. I know that people say soldier is "easy mode" but I don't care, it's still my favorite.

I once took Kaidan and Liara with me on a mission... I ended up having to reload the game, because one of them threw a table conveniently in front of the door, blocking the only way to continue the level.

Edit: Psylock, the demo you're looking for is Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, which is a medieval RPG. Don't know anything else about it, though.
Edit again: Ninja'd  by Bekkael.

@DarkPsylocke26 It's Kingdoms of Amalur. That demo comes out next Tuesday.

@soccer I understand how you feel. I just don't have the patience to wait any longer to see/talk with Kaidan. I played the DA2 demo half a dozen times before DA2 released! I like this annual tradition of BW releasing a new game every March. :o

lmao, that happened to me once, although I blame Kaidan because I generally don't use Liara or get her till the last possible moment.  I also had the joy of Kaidan hitting one of the Cerberus mercs with lift and having him permanently stuck in the wall.  Had to reload that one as well.

(delurks to say hopefully I am not still invisible to everyone): The game is kingdoms of amalur. It's a collaboration between author R.A Salvatore (created Drizzt Do'urden best Drow character ever), Todd McFarlane (Spawn creator),  and Ken Rolston who was lead designer on Morrowind and Oblivion.(back to lurking)

Edit: ninj'd by Bekkael. Also the game looks pretty cool. Vids are on Xbox live if you have it.

I quite like engineers in me2, look at my shiiiny ball... hah it blew up in your face! Now buuuuurn! mwahaha!
Loooove vanguards, i cheat so charge has no risks at all to me, so i like to charge into packs then try and punch them to death, i figure its fair play for them trying to slap me to death! Or for a change i go husk bowling, i like to pretend shep and jack are keeping score. They also have the best ammo powers imo.
Soldiers and infiltrators ive played in both 1&2, but i dont really enjoy them much. Sentinels are kind of in the middle for me, not great but not snoringly dull. I prefer my squaddies to be sentinels, overload that, warp this so i can go booowling!
I do seem to have a weird obsession with ammo powers though, if i pick them up then i have to upgrade them to squad upgrade, can never pick the other one.

I'll bite on this comment since I make no secret of my disdain for Mac Walters writing abilities, although I will be the first to say I brush him with a very wide, liberal brush. Mr Walters does one character very well and he has proved quite successful at it. Wrex in ME1, the bad ass merc. When Wrex was not available for ME2 due to reasons of possible death, Mr Walters transferred his skills to Garrus who became a bad ass merc. He's also responsible for Aria, whom I personally find trite and cliched, but others like. In ME3, we will be introduced to James Vega, the bad ass soldier. It's a source of bemusement to me that a medium Mr Walters should excell in...comic books...he struggles with. I believe it is because when it comes to an overall plot arc, he is at a loss of what to do. His strength lies in the character who is abrasive, the in your face, take no prisoners sort. The character of Kaidan is the antithesis of the characters Mr Walters excells at and it shows. It showed on Horizon. It showed in the Genesis comic that I loathe. My biggest fear has always been that it will continue to show in ME3.

Mac Walters doesn't write everything Mass Effect, you know. He has a team of writers. He is the lead writer, keeping things together and all, but from what I understand, the original (bare bones) outline of all 3 games, story-wise, is all Drew. Kaidan in ME2 was not necessarily written by Mac. And, last I saw, the guy who supposedly wrote Kaidan in ME1 (can't remember his name, though I believe it is still findable in the Mass Effect wiki) is still employed with BioWare and could potentially have written him in ME2 & 3. I have also seen the devs state that Dragon Age and Mass Effect teams share writing resources as needed. So, there's that. I don't quite think it's fair to attack Mac's writing ability when he did not write it all. :D

The three fSheps that I've imported to ME2 are all cross-eyed. ../../../images/forum/emoticons/wondering.png I
guess it's an import thing since they all seemed fine in ME1. Also,
when they run on the ship (like, say, up the catwalk to Joker's
station), their head turns to the side. So, Shep's running down the
catwalk with her head twisted around exorcist-style, lol.

Re: The twisty head thing. You have to wait for Shep to fully face forward before running. Otherwise, (s)he gets his/her head stuck on the closest action item (for me, usually EDI as I am leaving the bridge after talking to Joker).

You can have a biotic character in your party Lift (though I find Singularity works best) the object in your path to sometimes work your way around it if it gets stuck in your path. I remember some really funny visual situations in that tiny hallway with the 3 krogan in the Exo-Geni facility in ME1.

Re: Vanguard Sheps...
My canon and first femShep is Vanguard. I chose the class intentionally. Knew I'd like the combination of magic (biotics) and combat the best. And it is my favorite class forever and ever. I've played all classes, but IMHO, Vanguard is the best.

It does look really interesting. I ain't into fantasy at all so I won't be picking it up anyway, but for people that like fantasy, it seems rather unique (esp. from gameplay perspctive) and the people involved are all great, even I know them ;P

Yup, that's what happened with me as well. I heard about the game on x-play and decided to rent it. I enjoyed it the whole time I had it, but then it came time to return it and I just never went back and finished. Then ME2 came out and again x-play was reviewing it and talking about all of the improvements made and how awesome it was. So I rented ME2 and I LOVED it! Didnt even wait til my rental was up before I went out and bought it. So then of course I had to go back and finish ME1.

Oddly enough, I did pretty much the exact same thing with Assassins Creed and Dragon Age. Apparently weekend rentals just isnt enough time for me to properly get into a game.

Not quite! Linking is actually not done with BBC code. What you do is type in what you want ('fixed' in this case), highlight it, then click on the symbol on the toolbar that looks kinda like Earth with an infinity sign below. Then paste the URL into the box provided, and voila!

Edit: Nvm, looks like you've got it

If you mean "are images visible now?" then no, it's still 403 - forbidden. But my version of Firefox seems to be on war conditions with imgur, so maybe it's glitch on my side.

I am aware of Mr Walters' title and of his skills. Because it is my craft and my passion, I study writers. I study what works and what does not. I have said what works for Mr Walters and I have said what does not. I find it admirable that you wish to defend him from my perceived 'attack' but it is precisely because Mr Walters is the lead writer that I lay the responsibility for the lack of cohesive plot and the rather poor portrayals of the VS in ME 2 at his feet. The buck stops with him because his name is at the top. I am also very good at learning the writing styles of authors. Give me a book co-written by three different authors and I can tell you which author wrote what part. I am very familiar with Mac Walters' style. I have read his comics. I can hear his echo when a character speaks lines he has written.
Regarding Kaidan’s main writer in ME1, Lukas Kristjanson, he did indeed work on ME2. He is responsible for the bulk of Thane and Jacob…and Jacob is widely considered to have the best romance lines in the game. He wrote the only storyline in DA2 that I liked and one of only two characters in the game I liked. I know his writing style, too, it’s very nearly the opposite of Mr Walters. He likes subtle characters that if you don’t pay attention too you will dismiss as ‘boring’ or ‘bland’ simply because you missed his sleight of hand style of writing.
As for ‘attacking’ Mr Walters’ writing ability…he is an author. I am an author. It wasn’t an ‘attack’, it was pointed criticism of a peer. Like it or not, agree with it or not, I really don't care. To put it in simple terms, it is what it is.

Two thumbs up for the annual release!
I also don't want to lessen the impact of actual in game Kaidan, but there's just no way I can keep myself from using him if he's an option.  I'm not real good with delayed gratification.
