Thought the same thing.  The years since Ilos haven't been kind to Kaidan.  Losing his girlfriend, who knows what with the Alliance, hearing rumors about his dead girlfriend, colony attacks, seeing his dead girlfriend with an enemy, Spectre appointment.

The old hair was nice, but the new is nice too.  The new style gave me a "what the" moment though:

Ugh, please no gray hair. In my perfect imaginary world only grannies and grandpas are allowed to have gray hair. Young people and countless game/mmo/rpg/cartoon characters look unnatural to me with gray/white.

If he took these genetic upgrades in Aliance, I hope that's just light...

Wouldn't say no to a little dash of salt-and-pepper on Kaidan. If anything, it'll just make him more... distinguished!

At this point, Bioware would have to try REALLY hard to make Kaidan unattractive to me. A little grey in his hair? Sure! I still love him!

Your Kaidan's are among my VERY favourites (quite literally on DA, same name on there, btw...)

Well, for native people from Caucasus I see in everyday life it's absolutely normal to have white hair early - in fact, the darker their hair used to be, the earlier white ones will appear. Roommate of my boyfriend has nearly same amount of white in hair as Kaidan on "screenshot", and he's just 22.
So it's might be ethnic thing, although I don't know how many other nationalities have the same feature, if any. Oh, and for me it serves as nice contradiction to typical video game heroes who almost everytime look like they're in their twenties. Even when several hundreds years old.

@mineralica.. My daughter's BF is 19 and has tons of grey.
As for my personal preference, I love a bit of grey, I would faint right over if he had a bit.

Excuse me, but grannies and grandpas have been using hair die for the last 50 years, :innocent: I'd hope by Shepard's time they would have something better.  Agree with the no gray hair though.  It's a rather boring color.  (imo)

I'm pretty sure that he just has higher resolution hair now, which means more reflected light on black hair. I personally don't mind the idea of greying, but since people can live longer in the ME universe, it makes sense that they would not age as quickly as we do currently.

Except for Zaeed. That dude has not aged well at all, if his age on the ME2 site was correct.

in one of the novels there was mention that people looked younger than they were in reference to Sanders who didn't look her age;
not sure if they explained how they toned the hair, but I think there was some mention about hair colors and it was very easy to change it ... oh memory fails me sorry >_<

Not to get off topic (and hopefully prevent spoilers for anyone who hasn't read), but wasn't it that they were trying to get Sanders in somewhere, so she took something that altered her skin and hair pigmentation for a few hours, making them darker?  I don't really recall, I only read the first book once.
