Miranda and Kaidan are my two favorite characters in the games.  I have no problem with people not sharing my opinion of either character, but I'm going to ask anyone posting in this thread to post constructively.  If you didn't enjoy Kaidan's writing in ME1, please give us detailed reasons, rather than insults with no logic or reason.

Otherwise, if the trolling continues, I'm reporting all posts to the mods.

Sorry about the troll, guys. There are indeed many of us who like both characters. Kaidan is my favorite ME1 squad member, just as Miranda is my favorite ME2 squad member. They're like peanut butter and jelly for me.

That's understandable, I can be patient. Maybe. I'm just excited you are going to release the big version at all. I actually printed out this one to hang on my wall because of reasons.

Lol don't print this one, it's has ****ty 72dpi set on this smaller preview so it will look like crap xD The biggest version I have is 200dpi so that one would look good printed, will post after Raphael gets the poster

I have no tolerance for people like the person who just visited us. If you don't like a character don't visit their support thread..... Pretty fracking simple.

Im done trolling this is a serious question. I honestly really do not like Kaidan at all, i find him rather boring and uninteresting. Can you guys tell me why you like Kaidan? Im actually interested in what you have to say

You can just send a private message to a mod, it's actually the preferred method of getting their attention, since the "Report This Post" link goes to somebody at EA and then eventually winds it's way back over here to someone who actually moderates this forum.

I honestly don't mind someone saying "I played Male Shepard and wasn't impressed by the dialogue with Kaidan."  That's a totally legitimate opinion and I would have no problem discussing what would make a character like Kaidan more appealing to those who aren't looking to romance him.

However, people jumping in with insults, and asking others in another support thread to join in the bashing?  Yeah, that I do mind.

I wrote this a while ago about my own reasons for liking Kaidan:

As a player, I enjoy making characters who are "normal" people, by background, but kick behind and overcome odds because they are good at what they do.  Tragic backgrounds can be cool too, but I'm not interested in roleplaying half-demons, half-angels, "chosen ones", or the like.  A person who becomes great because they do great things, not because of what they are, is most interesting to me.

Thus, a character like Kaidan, who is "just" a soldier who is dedicated to his job, and loves what he does and does it well, is right up my alley.  Kaidan doesn't brag about his past, or complains about it, but he will tell you about Jump Zero to illustrate why he is worried about Shepard, and the status of the current mission.  He has always been reserved, and held back when it came to his powers as a biotic, but on this mission, when it really counts, he will give it everything he has.  He is also the most "paragon" party member in ME1, and I like to play do-gooders, and appreciate the fact that Kaidan is very stable, responsible, and decent.  Add to that some nice looking pixels and a great voice actor, and I was hooked in the first game.

For my main Shep, Kaidan was perfect, and though a part of me was resigned to the fact that one of the ME2 LIs might tempt me away, it just made sense for her to wait for him.

1). He's not overly macho. None of this 'I can do this on my own, I don't need help' kind of attitude. He's respectful without being a doormat, friendly without being cloying, and has a dry sense of humor that I find appealing.
2). He can display grief without becoming angsty.
3). He has an interesting back story. As one of the first human biotics that had to work closely with humanity's first non-human enemy, the turians, I was interested to see how that whole experience went. Not well, as we know.
4). He's respectful of the aliens on the ship.
5). He supports Shepard when s/he is forced into a situation where s/he has to commit mutiny to save everyone's lives.
6). He never has a victim mentality like Tali (and, to a lesser extent, Wrex) has. He accepts what happened in the past and doesn't play the blame game.

These I find really important points about his character, he could easily have been xenophobic considering what happened to him, but instead of blaming aliens he compares them to humanity and states they are not different at their core. Which also means he does not have a pristine view of humanity. While most people might see him as a very 'good' character his views are actually quite grey. 

And yes the whole mutiny thing also weighs in, he might do things by the book most of the time but IF it's necessary he will break the rules. He's not a black and white character by any means. 

Also in romantic terms he was the most appealing and naturally progressive to me, he starts out as a friend with a crush, Shep starts out teasing him but can end up being emotionally supported by him as seen in the post Virmire/Citadel scene.

@Swagg-Have you ever even romanced Kaidan? Why I like him is because he is my type. As far as looks goes I'm attracted to men with dark hair. He is reserved, patient, subtle, kind, caring, and very passionate. To me he is the person I can lean on when things get ruff and I know he will have my back. I see Shep as gas, always rushing in and always in danger. I see Kaidan as the breaks or bumps in the road that slows her down and makes her think. Protects her from herself at times. Also I see him as a voice of reason. I also like that he has the balls to stand up to me and be a man. I like that he is strong in his beliefs and he doesn't compromise who he is just to satisfy others. So that is what I see in Kaidan. I'm sure your gonna throw in Horizion as well so I will give you my answer for that. Yes I will stay  with Kaidan even after that because I'm an adult and fights happen. Miscommunication happens.
