can I ask about the scar real quick?
I have to admit I was ... shocked when it was pointed out, usually that's exactly the kind of small detail that I like adding to my drawings and that I have an eye for ... so I was actually more shocked about how I could miss it

anyway, due to an idea that came to my mind (sorry, won't reveal any more details yet, gotta see first if it works out ... and I can tell you ... most won't like it ... heck, *I* don't like it, but it intrigues me still) I began to wonder if he got it from the time when Vernus put the knife to his face ... as far as I know Kaidan doesn't mention that Vernus drew blood ...
sure, there are alot of incidents where he could have gotten them ... usual child-play, military training, something else during his time at Conatix and and and, but do you think that was the one?

In my expereince, that's what most people think.  Some think was from the knife, while others think it's the type of scars "turian punches" will cause.

I'm not so sure myself, but whatever the cause, the lighting in Chora's Den brings them out nicely.

I don't think that he got those scars from the knife itself, because I think a knife would've left a deeper gash in his face, but I do think that Kaidan got his scars from Vernus. Possibly from that same fight with Vernus (Turians have claws, right?) but for some reason those scars don't strike me as knife-wounds.

Personally, I think those scars work really well into Kaidan's history with Vernus, because they've faded. Like you said, you didn't notice them, and most people have to deliberately look for them. That's exactly how Kaidan rolls. He doesn't blatantly display his past or his anguish with some huge, deep scar, but with something subtle and quiet, something you have to look for and ask about, something you can't unsee once you know it's there.

Nice observation and I agree with you.

in one of the novels there was mention that people looked younger than they were in reference to Sanders who didn't look her age;
not sure if they explained how they toned the hair, but I think there was some mention about hair colors and it was very easy to change it ... oh memory fails me sorry >_<

Not to get off topic (and hopefully prevent spoilers for anyone who hasn't read), but wasn't it that they were trying to get Sanders in somewhere, so she took something that altered her skin and hair pigmentation for a few hours, making them darker?  I don't really recall, I only read the first book once.

That was Kai Lang, I think. he altered hair- and skin pigmentation for his hunting for grayson on omega.

about the scars: I too thought those could be from the fist fight with vyrnnus, or at least I'd hope. that would add some importance to them. maybe he'll tell us the story in me3. I'd hope so = )
there are two right...? one on the lower lip, one across his chin, right? the whole chat made me second-guess xD

I get the sudden urge to hug something ... or someone ... (with a subtle scar)

PS: sorry for spelling Vyrnnus wrong
we have a turian character called Vanerus and I just realized I used that name instead of 'Vernus' and just edited to what seemed closes ... I actually play with subtitles on as english isn't my mother tongue and should have known better, even in the quick plays I take the time to talk to Kaidan ... YES I do BioWare ... now gimme more Kaidan in ME3 <_<

Ugh, please no gray hair. In my perfect imaginary world only grannies and grandpas are allowed to have gray hair. Young people and countless game/mmo/rpg/cartoon characters look unnatural to me with gray/white.

If he took these genetic upgrades in Aliance, I hope that's just light...

Excuse me, but grannies and grandpas have been using hair die for the last 50 years, :innocent: I'd hope by Shepard's time they would have something better.  Agree with the no gray hair though.  It's a rather boring color.  (imo)

edit needed a halo

Actually, I will look 12 with a full head of gray hair.  I'm 37 and have streaks, still no substantial lines.

I welcome a bit of grey on Kaidan.

And as long as y'all don't have too many spoilers, I can come visit. ;)

^ Love the sketches! <3

Here's my entry for the Comic Con showcase. Ugh @ the 300dpi requirement, was pain in the butt to work in such high resolution. Wonder if I have any chance at getting this displayed

ISAAC!!! THAT'S AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL AND WONDERFUL AND <3<3<3<3<3!!!

You should be so proud of yourself! It's breathtaking!

It'll get displayed! I just know it! If Bioware is going to display ten thousand images of femShep all "tastefully nude" with Liara (which you KNOW is going to happen) the LEAST they can do is display this amazing image and give it the credit it deserves!!!

More hearts for you, good sir. <3<3<3:wub:<3<3<3:wub:<3<3<3

I'm particularly attached to the hoodie one. No idea why! But you should submit the one you're most proud of.

Oh! Maybe you could make an image with your top three favourites in a line? Make a little parade of cuteness!

I can't decide xD Love too many! The coffe one, the sleeping one, the "Shepard what are you doing?" one, the one where Kaidan put his hand on Shep's heart <3 Maybe you should pick a few and make a little comic from it? "Daily life of Shep & Kaidan" something like that :P

Also, don't forget avout teh darned 300dpi thing :pinched:

@IsaacShep and @Criz-Zone

Do you guys ever Tweet your stuff @CaseyDHudson or @dsilvermanea? They re-tweet epic fanart all the time! I've never seen them re-tweet any Kaidan/manShep, but I bet one of you could be the first!

luckily at some point I switched over to making my daily sketches 300 dpi instead of just 72 dpi, they're still only 800x800 px and rather small ... I already had to use some tricks on the dancing Shepard one ... yes I submitted *that* one ... I'm in for the fun after all ... and I put together all the 'Ballad of the Templars' into one big picture ... not sure I'd be stretching their good will with another composition ... though apparently aimo intends to submit a DA2 comic ...

as you said, they re-tweet epic fanart ... don't mis-read this as whiny fishing for compliments, I'm enjoying my style, but I know it won't compete against an awesome digital piece with likeness to the characters, über-realistic lightning etcetc.

on occasion I did tweet to several BioPeeps, don't think Silverman was one of them though ... usually when I had one that fitted what they tweeted about or if what they tweeted inspired a drawing (like the tweet by Weekes or the question about more hairstyles ... I want one Shepard who looks like Hawke ... at least has his epic beard :D)
I'm also not tweeting to them to get a re-tweet (I was rather embarassed when Christina Norman had done it, though flattered as well ) ... it's just that if they're on twitter it's probably in part for interaction with fans and drawing is my way of interacting *shrug*

also I'm not sure if Casey has a history of negative comments on Kaidan or if it's all related to that one comment during that E3 interview, which may not represent his opinion, but rather be him referring to the game data feedback - regarding who the VS is and that it's probably Ashley for most

yet I can't help but imagine Casey going "Ah yes, 'Kaidan'. A human squadmember in ME1, allegedly the other Virmire Survivor. We have dismissed that claim."
