I always go visit Council either straight after FP or after FP and Mordin's recruitment just to ask Anderson about Kaidan. I know old mentor won't say something new, but hey, Shepard made all possible on her side to find him.

*giggle* I always go first to make sure that if it pops up in conversation between Anderson and Kaidan, Kaidan knows that's what Shep did. So take that I didn't try to contact you! Pfft!

What amuses the hell out of me is we have phones that can record things. Yet in the future somehow we have nothing to record anything!!! You think by then that there would be oh what a omni-tool function that says record or video tape? Is there no where in your armor they can't install a mini camera or recorder? The brand new omni-tool blade comes with many accesorries. The brand new omni-tool comes in many standard sizes and colors. Sir, does the omni-tool record or take pictures? Um no?! Forget it next!! Say would that armor have any recording device in it? No, jeez!

Someone confiscated Shep's and team omni-tools, clearly :P Tali shows a recording of Benezia's voice in ME1 and that's enough evidence then to get things rolling!! So yeah PFFFT!

I'm gonna steal Tali's omni-tool then:bandit: Apparently she is the only one who can record images and voice recordings.

Same! Hahah. Whenever investigating about Kaidan is an option, I choose it.

And then I'm always sure that after Horizon *everybody* knows how much my Shepard misses him (like when Kelly, TIM, and Joker mention Kaidan).

Me too, me too!  I know it doesn't actually make any difference, but I like to think that in ME3 Kelly or Joker will let him know how broken Shepard was about Horizon.

I think this has probably been asked before, but what are peoples general thoughts on the ME books? I just ordered them and I hear that they are about Anderson--and since he's the virtual father I never had I'm quite excited about it.

I think they're okay.  I like the expansion of the story and of course, Anderson is the man, but they're not very well written.  Honestly, I've read bettter fanfic.  But they do go along way to expanding your understanding of the ME universe, and for that reason, I'll probably end up reading deception before ME3 comes out so I have a little more background coming into the story.

So worth the time, but don't expect to be blown away.

That would be exactly my analysis of those books Leborum.  I thought the first one was particularly poorly written (probably to too tight a deadline) the later ones were better but it's not something I'd choose to read unless I was particularly interested in the subject matter (which I was, obviously).

I really enjoyed Ascension and Retribution. The first one with Seren I thought was hard to read and boring.

The last one Deception that is about to come out, avoid like the plague. Especially if you like the other novels I mentioned, just don't go there. Unless you want a good laugh maybe.

I have never read the books, always wanted to though heard they were good. Might give them a chance when I get some extra cash.

Is it that badly written? I haven't heard a ton about it but what I have heard makes it sound like it's not well received.

If you even entertained the thought of paying money for it I highly encourage everyone to read this thread:
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9070774

If you don't want spoilers don't read the whole thread, all you need is the excerpt really. Then decide. I couldn't believe it was that awful, then I read it. There's not enough facepalm in the world to excuse it.

I'm sorry I'm quite upset about it. lol.

What's the reading level aimed for on that? Seems more akin to something in a 5th grader's library than a book for adults (referring to the writing itself, not the content).

I hope it doesn't take long for Kaidan to take me back. I've never done ashley's romance so I dunno how she acts on horizon. But Kaidan's letter made me believe that he isn't over me. Even though i've been gone, he said his friends "tried" to get him to go out. I would think Ashley would have been more likely to move on over Kaidan. He seems kinda dependant on you after he tells you about jump zero and that girl he loved (forgot her name x.x) I just think of the two, his will be easier.

From what I recall reading, Ashley's Horizon reaction is a little harsher, something like she moved on a year ago? I know Kaidan's Horizon meeting and following letter was a bit more sensitive and it seemed like he was more affected.
Of course, that's probably because Kaidan's personality is the calm, collected one, whereas Ashley can be a firecracker with a more up front personality.

A little late on this, but...I personally think Ashley's letter is actually kinder and more clearly conciliatory (I mean, we all know Kaidan "always leaves a way out", not surprising he would in his letter when Ashley may not).  For one, the title of her letter is "Hey there...", which is just...adorable.

My husband just finished a playthrough of ME2, and he taunted me the ENTIRE GAME with his letter.  He'd go up to his quarters, and be all "Oh, look, I have a message in my Inbox, and it's titled "Hey there"!  Isn't that sweet?"  I just glared at him...

@leborum:  That's more or less how I would describe the books as well.  They weren't exactly badly written, just at times lacked the punch of a really good book.  I enjoyed Retribution a fair amount though - and if you care about the larger ME story, I would recommend reading all 3 for the additional plot points at least.  Also, they make you like Anderson more - my husband kept asking me why I was so nice to Anderson in my fanfic (well, first drafts anyway), then he read the books and said "Oh, I see why you like him now."

I will read the new one no matter how bad everyone says it sucks, because I simply must know the plot points :/

Oh no! I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised by the books. I had heard that it is not the best science fiction. Having it reaffirmed by you good people does not bode well.

Lol! Hahahaha...yes, appparently we did. Cuz that's what we do...lol "Shhh, lil troll. it's okay. Do you wanna bowl of milk?"

It was a bit flea bitten and mangy, but there was a certain sincerity there after it stopped snarling..but I'm glad it's back to normal, too

Edit: altho those kinda things always remain wild. There is no domesticating a Troll...

Also, why so much hate on Deception? It hasn't even come out yet.

Forgive me, I know nothing about any of the books. I was just looking for a way to pass the next 38 days.

..also moar Kaidan.

That's the first thing that hits you square in the face. It's the last ME novel in a series, but everything is described as if the reader as never been exposed to the universe before. And it's badly described. It's almost hard to read but it isn't because it's so simplistic.

As I said I recommend Ascension and Retribution because you get key points for these characters:

Anderson, Illusive Man, Aria and Kai Leng.

There's nice additions like Kahlee Sanders, Gillian and Paul Grayson but you don't really need these guys for ME3. I can't in good conscience recommend Deception, and I usually live and let live, but in this case I make an exception. There are no key plot points as far as I know so far and people have told me. If anything this book might destroy what you already knew.

Anyway!!! Happy thoughts! Where's our Kaidan?

On a positive note what I do recommend everyone reads before ME3 are the comics!

Evolution   <----- This is so great!! <3 Plugged a few plot holes for me.
Redemption     <---- We already know how Shepard's body got around but it's nice to see it anyway.
Invasion   <----- Things happening between ME2 and 3. Yay! Lots of Aria.

The quality of these is also why DH needs to make a Kaidan comic!! The drawing in Invasion is really well done too.
