Poor Silverman, he must have received tweets all day long because of difference in timezones.Kia Purity wrote...
I saw the tweet and my jaw dropped. (Of course I sent a reply saying that was unacceptable and that was the same image that we've had the whole time.)
I hope this will give him an idea to do something:innocent:

@JessicaMerizanCommander Shepard doesn't have to put up with this crap.
@SigmaRue @JessicaMerizanNo, but he does have to listen to Ashley/Kaidan be a dink.

HUGE thanks to Raphael, Jennifer and of course Jacqui for the audioblogs, you're keeping our hopes alive for a game that the publishers themselves clearly don't understand.

Or maybe it's just me projecting my real life reactions onto gaming. Maybe most people don't do that.

This is sort of depressing.... I know it's all in good fun, but you really don't need to pander to the same demographic all the time. Have some sort of respect for your characters in your games, geez.

Wow... That makes me angry >: [ I am so frustrated with Biowares Marketing team. They treat KaidAn and Ashley like a dirty uncle that everyone hates and are the butts of all their jokes.

I actually find it funny how some people react to Kaidan/Ash (see twitter example). Sometimes relations with others require a bit of effort and understanding, and if some people cannot make that kind of an effort for a video game character, I don't want to know how they deal with real human beings.
Or maybe it's just me projecting my real life reactions onto gaming. Maybe most people don't do that.
its actualy exactly how I feel as well, to be honest.
of course the effort should be worth it, but it seems like for a lot of people any bump in a relationship with a video game character is a deal breaker. I mean, people have dumped Liara becasue she refused to go with Shepard (prior to Shadow broker DLC) even though she greeted Shepard very warmly. lets not even talk about horizon reactions.
I cannot help but wonder if they operate the same way in real life - one tiniest little strike and you're out? :/
developer hate though... that's so openly expressed. it makes me very weary of how the characterization in game will be handled. and makes me worry about biases and "unjistified character behaviors" (a term I learned yesterday from Sia, to replace OOC, as it seems to fit better )
I hope that essential writers don't share these biases

Totally agree with this - it's one thing for gamers to like, love, hate etc a character and express that. But if you're a member of the staff team responsible for the game, you should really sound impartial! Obviously they will still have personal favourites but I think it's just really unprofessional of them to put down a character in their own game. And it does make you worry about whether their attitude is reflected in the game ...

i cant believe people at bioware can be so inconsiderate to people who love their game and intend to buy it. i dont have a major in marketing or anthing but alienating an entire demographic with snide and backhanded comments doesnt seem like the right way to sell a game...
but hey, what do i know? i'm only the customer!!

Why should they sound impartial? I see no problem with them voicing their preferences.
I think Silverman was just teasing the Kaidan fans because he knows how worked up some of us can get. I don't think he's being spiteful or disrepsectful; he did add an emoticon just so there wouldn't be a misunderstanding.

they can even express their personal preferences... WITHOUT bashing other characters. or is it too much to ask for from mature adults who do marketing for a living? >_>

Well, when you work for a company that is just releasing a new product, you don't normally go on twitter or facebook or wherever and say that you don't like the product or even some part of it. It's totally unprofessional to do so and in some circumstances, it results in people losing their jobs. Although the case we are discussing isn't that severe, it still doesn't seem right.
I agree that it's ok for them to have their preferences, but voicing them and consequently making some fans upset over it isn't the way to go. And as for Mr Silverman - well, if he knows Kaidan fans so well, then he knows they are fed up with the "but he's dead in my playthrough" joke. We've been hearing it for yeeeears now and it would be nice if someone showed some support for a change. Teasing or not.

why should they sound impartial? to not alienate fanbases, maybe? this "we don't really need you" hubris, the "we'll just have other people buy the games instead of you" is not a good thing. fans who buy games is what allows developers to make more games in a future.

Whoa! Whoa! Where are you getting this "we don't really need you" attitude?
I haven't seen anything like that from any Bioware employee. I think some people are being way too sensitive and negative, and negativity spreads like wild fire on the boards. The demo is coming out soon. We'll see Kaidan then. Hopefully, we'll get to see him when they release the femShep trailer as well.
As for your snarky comment... perhaps as Kaidan fans, WE need to act like adults. Lashing out like spoiled brats because we haven't seen in-game footage of Kaidan doesn't reflect kindly on us. When I saw that other thread a few days ago, I was embarassed to be a Kaidan fan because it made us look like whiny, demanding fangirls.
I know people are frustrated about not seeing Kaidan. Heck, I would love to see a character vid on him like the ones they released for ME2, but that's highly unlikely. I just think we're letting ourselves get caught up in this negative frenzy because it's so close to ME3, and our patience is wearing thin.

I would totally agree with bolded part if BioWare would prove that patient waiting can lead anywhere. Comments like "Tali was made a squadmate because of her fanbase" (by Mr. Priestly) don't actually encourage doing this - even if that is not true, such statements encourage "ask and you will receive" way.Saberchic wrote...

Edit: by the way, remember when we finally got screenshot of Ashley in armor? After countless threads concerning presense of said armor in ME3 and after bombarding BioWare with "give us armored Ashley screenshot as thanks for voting for ME3 as most anticipated game on VGA". I won't say this way looks noble, all I want to say that it's the only that looks like working.

Wish this forum had like buttons. I tip my glass to you.
Seriously, the demo comes out in a few days, for those who doubt Kaidan will be in the FemShep version, I highly doubt that. The Xbox demo that got leaked had Anderson going "Major Alenko, get the normandy blah blah" so he's in there, stop freaking out.
Calm your ******, a la Tumblr.
