As Kaidan and Shep would understand, there are regs.

When you are marketing, you reach out to the masses and close out as few as possible - simple as that. Don't alienate your audience, don't just throw out comments that will annoy a sector of your potential customers because it will come back and bite you. Think before you post! But that doesn't mean you can't be social - you just choose your words carefully.

Unrelated note, finally got to the end of Manipulations - damn that is one of the finest fanfics, talk about slow build up with rewards! But equally, awesome twist in Chap 15 on Encounter! Awesome stuff guys :)

Like I said, it isn't written anywhere that they have to market a game 24/ 7 on their personal accounts and exclude any personal thoughts from their tweets. After all, it's Jessica's profile, I'm sure  the "masses interested in reading simply official stuff follow @BioWare or @MassEffect. I follow individual devs because I'm interested in what they think and I think it's selfish to expect them to think they're there solely for my sake and should thus watch their every word. On the other hand, had it occured to her that her own opinion might cause an annoyance, perhaps she would have refrained from posting at all. Alienating devs by oversensitivity is always great.

Your assumption is that those people who tweeted were being malicious or hurtful in their intent.

No, my comment did not mean to imply anything of the sort - merely that if people are getting upset about a tweet then its meaning is unclear and was not given due consideration pre-posting... as has been clarified just now I see. So I guess I was unclear too.

Cave Johnson - we're done here.

I don't want BioWare employees to always promote their games/characters, I follow them on Twitter because I want to see their own opinion, and sometimes we have to accept what they say about a specific character. I know that we VS fans are tired of the lack of Kaidan/Ashley in our ME3 news, but I'll accept if a dev doesn't likes Kaidan or if he's dead in his playthrough, as long as they keep it professional and gives us a good ending, wich I'm hopeful they will.

After all the hating on the forums, I don't really care wether we'll see Kaidan/Ashley on trailers os dev love for them on Twitter, all I want is a good character development on ME3.
And the highlight of ME3 marketing for me has been Raphael's audioblogs anyway.

But we have no context for those tweets. In other words, maybe the VS is being a punk during a certain part that might hinder Shepard. My point being... we don't know. So getting upset over these tweets would be a waste of energy.

I'd like to think that Ash and Kaidan would jump on board whatever plan I come up with, but maybe they won't because there will more than likely be some residual mistrust over Shep having worked for Cerberus.

I actually like tweets like those because it gets me wondering about what is going on in the game and if my experience might be the same or vastly different depending on my choices.

I highly doubt those tweets have anything to do with what goes on in ME3. It's more of a general feel of those characters that many people have.

I could be wrong of course, but that's the way I'm taking it.

I'm hopeful as well. I liked what I read of his dialogue in the leak. There's going to be drama as well, and drama is always welcome for me.

Come on, guys, I think we're getting a bit too worked up over this. Whether they should or should not have said those things is a bit irrelevant; it's done now, and us whining and crying about it isn't going to change anything. It's just going to make everyone hate us. We don't want to be the next Talimancers, guys. THINK OF THE TALIMANCERS.

We've waited two years now. Can we keep ourselves composed for just one more month?

Got a question for you guys. I want to finally do an insanity run through for ME1. Someone here suggested that I use one of my Sheps already leveled up to 60, so I'm wondering if the UNC: Valuable Minerals assignment has any effect on my ME2 import (in the amount of resources I start with) or if I can just skip that stuff.

Well when only ertian characters are getting "joked" about (Weekes weeted about enjoying telling ashley what to do with the hastag "#DamnXenophobes") it's hard to tell. especially since we've got like 3 pictures between two characteers while other characters are in trailers and have mulptiple screenshots of them.

I can't wait to go buddy buddy with Kaidan. The guy reminds me of myself.
I'd love to have him and Garrus as my bro's.

HOW DARE YOU TO MISS MINERALS

My less traumatized by this UNC and planet scanning in ME2 part of brain says it was irrelevant to ME2 highly unlikely to have effect on ME3 - what do you think will happen to PS3 players in this case. So if you don't want to squeeze every piece of XP from each planet (I assume that's the case of lvl 60 char), then they're completely skippable.

And yet, because of the lack of context, there's no need for people to get riled about it. Because... as I said before... we don' know the full context. Jessica sent out a tweet when "called on it" (as someone else said) that said she was joking. I bet people are feeling rather placated now about it.

My point being: they shouldn't have let themselves get worked up over it in the first place.

They can say whatever the heck they want on their twitter feed as I do and anyone else does, and I'm allowed to say it annoys me.
And it does. Jokes are alright but even a good joke gets annoying when it's the same thing over and over and over. I don't appreciate people trying to tell me not to have a reaction and an opinion on these things either, FYI.
You want me to shut up? Quit asking me to. ;)

It's nice to see actors care about their roles, even one in a video game. I've seen VAs who don't even really know what goes on in the game and story and just read lines, really. So the passion he shows as well as Ms Hale is just awesome. ;) <3

Yeah, looking through the plot flags with Gibbed's Save Editor, I never saw anything relating to the Minerals quest. Which is nice, because I never, ever finish it.

I admit I didn't pay so much attention to devs talking about other characters (just the ones that interest me), but I'd still say that's reading too much into it. As for characters in the spotlight, that's mostly Garrus and Liara (and Vega, as the new guy who needs introducing). I don't remember seeing more than a single screenshot of Tali, either. And we practically got info on Allers just now. I agree it's unfair that we saw next to nothing of Kaidan and I'm mighty sick of  seeing Liara, but I doubt it's indicative of the quality of in-game content.

*NERDRAGE* What? How dare you bring logic and levelheadedness into this discussion! *END FAKE NERDRAGE* :P

I just want to say that I hope I haven't come across as if I'm raging (because I wasn't at all). I actually think we handled this debate quite civilly without resorting to: "You're a stoopid troll! GTFO of my thread! hurr durr"

We're not always going agree, but I like that when we do, we can feel comfortable enough to do so without threats of violence. ;)

edit: spelling fail again! :pinched: I'm on a roll today.

It really concerns me because I don't want to feel like I spent all that money on the series if my favorite character is poorly written just because devs didn't like him.

I'm going to find a chocolate pastry after work >_<

I have a block that prevents me from not collecting each and every mineral and scanning every planet.

It might not have an effect, but I just don't feel like I'm completing the entire game if I don't do EVERYTHING :crying:

I'll drop my two cents in...the only thing we have heard from Bioware about Kaidan has been negative. We got one pic. One. Pic. It's not even in game footage. Everything to keep our interest alive since then has come from Raphael Sbarge.

My opinion of Jessican Merizan has dropped from neutral to negative as well. Her spin on her earlier comment simply made it worse. 'I was just kidding' is a pathetic response.

I am tired of the bashing the VS gets. I already know that Kaidan is the least liked character in the MEverse, I don't need to have it brought up ever single fecking time his name gets mentioned. I would like to see something positive. I would like to hear how he's his own character and remains true to who he was in ME1 and that the tripe that was in the leaked file was a sick joke.

I could not care less if Jessica M hates his guts and never uses him. If Silverman kills Kaidan every time he plays the game, good for him. I would just once like to be acknowledged that as a Kaidan fan, I exist and that Bioware considers my money just as good as a Tali or Garrus fan.

difference between VS fans and Talimancers is that Talimancers get what they want. She's a perma squadmate in all three games because they begged for it twice for ME2 and ME3, the VS is not.Image IPB

personally, I wasn't raging. trust me, if you ever see me rage in truth, you won't be able to mistake it for anything else. I was expressing annoyance, that built up over some time. and just as bioware employees can express their options? so can I. and my opinion is I don't always like the way they express themselves, except my opinions cannot affect the way the product is made, unlike that of people who actually work for the company. hence the hope that actual writers didn't share the same personal bias.

as for mineral quests, I don't believe they affect anything. I think even the mineral import bonus in ME2 is more affected by how many credits you acquired in ME1 (aka rich achievement) collecting all minerals merely makes that achievement easier to get.
