No, he's not. It's Jacob.

Yeah, looking through the plot flags with Gibbed's Save Editor, I never saw anything relating to the Minerals quest. Which is nice, because I never, ever finish it.

Loaded my latest playthrough and got screenshot:

I'm talking about the file that is created when you import an ME1 save to ME2, you can view it with Gibbed's Save Editor and see what plot flags carry over from the first game to the second.  The minerals quest doesn't seem to carry, unless they call it something totally unexpected.

(If you already knew this, my apologies, just clarifying what I was talking about)

Plus, you're all forgetting another very important thing.

They probably hear their dialogues 50+ times a day while they debug / test / tear apart areas of the game. So, yeah. I would also be going "WHAT NOW YOU ANNOYING VS! I KNOW ALREADY." after the 50 millionth time hearing it on repeat.

I'm pretty sure it was a joke, and if I was a dev, I would completely understand. Kinda like re-reading passages you're editing.

I'll drop my two cents in...the only thing we have heard from Bioware about Kaidan has been negative. We got one pic. One. Pic. It's not even in game footage. Everything to keep our interest alive since then has come from Raphael Sbarge.

My opinion of Jessican Merizan has dropped from neutral to negative as well. Her spin on her earlier comment simply made it worse. 'I was just kidding' is a pathetic response.

I am tired of the bashing the VS gets. I already know that Kaidan is the least liked character in the MEverse, I don't need to have it brought up ever single fecking time his name gets mentioned. I would like to see something positive. I would like to hear how he's his own character and remains true to who he was in ME1 and that the tripe that was in the leaked file was a sick joke.

I could not care less if Jessica M hates his guts and never uses him. If Silverman kills Kaidan every time he plays the game, good for him. I would just once like to be acknowledged that as a Kaidan fan, I exist and that Bioware considers my money just as good as a Tali or Garrus fan.

Mac Walters for the rescue:

@ZareneKeil I like the way he's matured. He's really come in to his own as a soldier. And a leader.

I'm very surprised that it was Mac Walters of all people, but here is it. Respect to lead writer: +100%

I was referring to "can't complete it" piece - it looks like I have unhealthy obsession with completing this particular quest. Hence the forum name, but I've told it before;)

It really concerns me because I don't want to feel like I spent all that money on the series if my favorite character is poorly written just because devs didn't like him.

This was my main concern, too. I understand that not all the characters are "favorites" or "liked" by the developers, and that's fine. They, just like me, have their character preferences and their opinions on each character. But I'd hate to see that spilled out into the game - which I hope will not be the case. I'd like to think that game-wise, they are impartial and are trying their hardest to please everyone.

I'm very much emotionally invested in my main Shepard and, of course, Kaidan, and I'm really looking forward to the continuation of their romance in ME3. Not every relationship is perfect and, although drama and angst are not my cup of tea (especially after being Kaidan-less in ME2 and the ordeal of Horizon), I will do whatever it takes to get Kaidan back. Well, I don't think anyone was "raging" in this whole discussion. Expressing disappointment? Yeah. And I still think they did so with good reason. Even if that tweet was a joke, it doesn't change the fact that people should be mindful of the reaction of others, especially when dealing with whole communities. Written text can be unclear, ambiguous, it doesn't convey everything we want to express. But if there is a slight chance it might upset someone - we should carefully think it over (or at least that's my approach, after all those months of reading BSN :P).

But anyway, I hope Kaidan/Ash get some love soon because they're fantastic (difficult, but fantastic) characters. It would be like a breath of fresh air.

No, it's still a pathetic response. Just kidding is what you say when you want someone to drop the subject. It's immature.

Wrong. Jacob is ignored. Kaidan is hated.

I would rather Mac Walters say he knew nothing about Kaidan's character because he hasn't touched him, but as bread crumbs, I'll take it.

Jacob has far less fans than Kaidan.
And hell, I don't know about you, but I'd take hated over ignored any day.

Heh the artbook is about to come out, PERHAPS they are waiting for it to release before giving out more character stuff? Possibly.

Jacob isn't a whole lot in ME3 I don't think, and he got a game before ME2..

There are always several possibilities - that there will be more character trailers like Vega's, or that "ME3 cast revealed" will have part 2, or that more screenshots will be released somewhere near demo release. It's just... almost month left to release, and I feel myself very agitated and want moar.

I have no idea why someone expressing an opinion is labeled angry.  It's fair to expect employees of Bioware to remain professional when promoting the game.  I'm not talking about their personal feelings, but how they present themselves during marketing.  There have been interviews where the developers have referred to Kaidan in less than flattering terms.  And considering his writers are not involved anymore, I think the concerns are justified.

I suspect it's more just the VS expressing an opinion and a lot of people don't like that because "NO ONE TELLS SHEPARD WHAT TO DO!!!"

I mean people have a right to feel a little upset. What if it was reversed and there was nothing about Garrus and Liara. Then devs kept tweeting how annoying they were. It may be a joke, but it's hard to keep it in perspective when they only perspective you have is devs' opinions.

@ Solid Beast - as a Jacob fan as well as Kaidan fan.. as well as someone who read the leaks? I'm honestly not sure which one is worse.

ether way - back to Kaidan. he's kinda tough for me to draw, /attempts to steal some of the talent from other artists here. /fails miserably. /sulks. /goes back to drawing.

When they are marketing it, sure. I agree.

When they are on their own time, they can express whatever they want--that includes their twitters. As others have said before, their twitter accounts aren't official.

And I haven't seen any unflattering marketing interviews where Kaidan was maligned. The only one I can even think of that comes close is when Casey said that Kaidan was dead in most playthroughs. And I assume, that when Casey claims something like that, he has the numbers to back up his statement. It's not being mean; he was just stating a fact.

Well I wouldn't so much call those their "personal" twitters when most of them have "Dev for bioware" "Marketing for bioware" etc. If it was personal I doubt they'd bring attention to that because they'd know their twitters would be monitored over that by fans.

That's like you introducing yourself as "Dr. Saberchic" and then if people proceed to ask, "Oh what kinda of Doctorate do you have? Medical?" in which you go "I'm not a doctor, you can't ask me that!" Well by putting it out there, that's how people are going to react. If you don't want people to act or treat the tweets that way, leave off the bioware mention. So it's absolutely no surprise that the tweets were taken that way.

JUST SAYING

Without going into actual spoilers, this is for people who read the leak. Is the VS really that bad? And in what way is it bad, are they out of character? I don't want to read the leak, but I see people keep saying that they hated what happened with the VS in the leak.

I just was wondering if what you meant was that they were OOC or something. No specific details please.

My humble view is that they are not out of character. Plus, I kinda like what I read in the script (but I can see why some ppl would disagree). It's definitely going to be a good discussion once the game is released. Looking forward to that.

I have read and re-read Kaidan's dialogue from the spoilers, and while I wasn't amazed and awed, I don't think it's terrible.  What I don't like is the plot surrounding the VS, and the "issues" that are thrust upon Kaidan/Ashley AGAIN without differentiating reaction between the two characters.

It's like Horizon.  I really, really don't think that if the writers had spent more than five minutes on that scene, that Ashley and Kaidan would have the exact same reaction to meeting Shepard again, just worded differently.  Maybe the final script changes things, but right now I'm not crazy about this plot device.

Hope that's vague enough, if anyone feels this was too spoilery I'll edit.
