I would like Jacob a lot more if he didn't have the creepiest romance scene ever.

It's so funny that you mention this because I finally tried talking to Jacob a couple of days ago. Other than asking about upgrades or going to him in regards to his loyalty mission, I always kinda avoided him. So, I took a deep breath, walked into the armory and...Image IPB.  Every single option - be it paragon, neutral, or renegade - makes Shepard sound like such a perv! And it's hilarious because Jacob gives you this weird look and says something like, "Uh...I don't want to make this any weirder so I'll let you go Shepard...Commander". And the dialogue wheel has something like "Goodbye", but Shepard says, "You can't brush me off that easily, Taylor" in a weird, flirty voice. I was like, "Noooo! I actually meant 'goodbye'!" Weirdest. Conversation. Ever. I haven't talked to him since then.

Anyway, can you guys believe we're already on the second day of February? January took forever to finish, and it seems like February is gonna go by so fast! Image IPB

Lolz.  I know.  I felt like a sexual predator with every dialogue option.  Feel lucky that you never made it to the actual romance scene.  I was cringing the entire time.

Thank you for everyone who answered since I don't want to read the leaks. I was just getting a little bit worried about it since it seemed like a lot of people hated their role. I don't care if it's controversial, so long as they have their due character development and that the stuff that I love about Kaidan isn't completely gone. After Horizon, though, I can't see anything more disappointing than that.

Lol.  It's not out of character.  Just don't expect him to stop being a d*** about you and Cerberus and you'll be ok.

If Jessica Merizan makes a twitter account with her own name in it, than that's her personal twitter account.
The fact that she has her profession / workplace under her description just helps people who want to follow her for ME teasers, or who want to contact her for business reasons know that it is the right Jessica Merizan. At the same time, just because she works somewhere does not mean she is obliged to talk about her work from a marketing perspective 24/7. Even so, if she removed the info which she has full right to include in her profile, some hardcore fans would still find her profile and still ask questions about her job and then interpret what she says freely / overreact about it. It goes with the job I guess, there's no way around it. You're free to have opinions on her personal views, but you have no right to demand she weigh her every word.

edit: Also, I apologize for derailing the thread further.

follow her for ME teasers

There you go. My point. People will follow her for ME related info if she has it in her description. Meaning she is representing the company. IF, IF IF IF, she removed the info and included it in just her profile and people found and made comments and her opinion was shared that way, THAT is when you can say it was her personal opinion and personal twitter. But that is not the case. She's fully representing bioware at this moment in time. So the reaction of Kaidan fans is understandable.

Well at least he being a d*** is completely justified, Shepard worked with Cerberus, is natural that he needs to be sure that Shepard isn't evil...

There is a difference between following her for hopes of having additional ME teasers and following her for official statements. While I'm sure she'd get in trouble for posting blatant spoilers or other classified info, she is in no way obliged to keep it professional. There are official BioWare accounts for that, as everyone knows. Like it was said earlier, fans always want the devs to be friendlier and act more casual with them and thus jab them for info they are and aren't supposed to share, but when they start acting like that, and actually start joking around, suddenly everything is an official statement and gets ripped appart.

Kinga, where's the the information about trailer came from? Is there link nearby.

I'm bad at links but that's a tweet from Mr Silverman saying " Our editors are putting Kaidan into the FemShep trailer as we speak. "

Squeefest time or too early?

Found link: https://twitter.com/...158326789881856

I'm afraid squeefest will happen at announce of release date of this trailer, not right now. Ah, dang, that was fast response... squee!

This pleases me. It also supports the theory that if you complain about something loud enough they'll toss you something to shut you up. I've often wondered if Kaidan fans wouldn't get more attention if we were loud and in your face...unfortunately, I don't think it suits the nature of many of us.

you know what, my bigger concern is femshep's responses, not kaidan's reaction. so as long as all of her lines won't be about avoiding the real issue again and pretending that nothing happened - i'll be fine. i'd even greatly appreciate an option TO YELL a bit, don't mind some drama at all ;>

I agree, i think he sounds a ot more like Carth.

His Kaidan voice sounds deeper than his regular voice. Enough to make a difference.

EDIT: Clarifying, lol it came out garbled at first

Yes.  ^This.
And I am totally loving the q&a with Jennifer Hale right now.  She is a super intersting chick.

And YAY!!! Kaidn's going to be in a real trailer!!!  YAY:O  I'm so excited.

Well, at least we got something. Not much, but it's something to look forward to. Also proves the pester-the-marketing-guys-and-get-results theory right. See Bioware? That wasn't so hard, was it?

I disagree with you, Solidbeast. If I put in my twitter about my job and started making comments about things, I'd get fired. It's in my contract when I got hired that I am not allowed to comment on things as an employee(aka Otter the _____ Employee Tweeted:____) or else my opinion is taken as the opinion of the company. Thus is the case with them.

It doesn't matter if the fans want them to act more friendlier to be able to relate to them. That doesn't matter. What matters is they are indeed representing the company when they wear a sign that says so.

I am so glad he's gonna be a jerk about Cerberus.  I hated that everyone in ME2 basically rolled over and had no problem with Shep working for them, and had no problem with his pitching a fit about it.  This makes me ridiculously happy.

Russians often say "when you're silent about someone's actions, that person decides he does everything right". I'd surely prefer we don't have to cut corners and create threads with baits or spam Silverman, but sometimes something should be said.

It depends on the nature of your job. As for the bolded part, obviously, it isn't, otherwise they'd get fired for plenty of the joking and completely unofficial tweeting they did (that oversensitive fans blew out of proportion). I've already explained the reasons why she would include job info in her profile. There is no more point to this discussion.

clearly i need to get on twitter more... you know so i can heckle people about kaidan......

i cant believe people at bioware can be so inconsiderate to people who love their game and intend to buy it. i dont have a major in marketing or anthing but alienating an entire demographic with snide and backhanded comments doesnt seem like the right way to sell a game...

but hey, what do i know? i'm only the customer!!

However, the customer is always right. I think Bioware has forgotten that.

I think we should tell all of them what a shoddy job they are doing to one of their fanbases. Now I would still buy the game cause I want to see it play out. I mean most of us have been loyal fans and this is just the most ridiculous way to treat us. I agree with everyone that if you are trying to sell a product you shouldn't show any bias toward any other parts of your gaming property. You should show your support as a whole and keep your dislikes to yourself. jmo.

I'm not upset about it either. Like I said, his views about Cerberus are not out of character. Lol, just trying to warn interested parties that the reunion may not be (not sure of specifics) all puppies and ice cream. He pretty much has the same morals and values he had in the last 2 games, and some times Shep is completely at odds with them.

You're right, there is not point of discussing it any further when the points have been laid out.

You represent your company when you directly mention and promote it.

on the flip side you say:

They can say whatever they want because well they can. Don't take it wrong.

I think that's great. Putting everything past them would be unrealistic, after all. And who doesn't love tension?

That sounds promising.  I totally get the Cerberus thing with him.  I sure as hell didn't want to work for them.  My Shep seemed much more okay with it than I was.  Every chance I could take in ME2 I complained about them and tried to undermine their operations.

In a tangentially related story.... I just renegaded Kaidan for the first time.  It was pretty awesome!  Do you think that'll have any impact on his character in ME3?

Edit: Re-Twitter.  Bioware isn't a huge corporation.  They probably don't have the social media contracts that I've had to sign in the past working for stores with locations nationwide.  BW's probably just says, don't tweet spoilers.

Oh, I like that, mineralica. Can you give me the actual Russian words? I remember very little from my Russian language course other than 'shto etta' and 'etta Pavel' but I have always loved the language. Oh, I guess I remember how to swear in Russian, but I don't think I should be proud of that, lol.

@ZareneKeil I like the way he's matured. He's really come in to his own as a soldier. And a leader.

I'm very surprised that it was Mac Walters of all people, but here is it. Respect to lead writer: +100%

Meh.  Kaidan was already established as a good soldier and a good leader.  Remember that, "Never lost a soldier under my command to combat," thing?  I always walked away from that conversation impressed, but I guess he wasn't doing it badass enough somehow.  :P

...ah well.  I'm bein' negative again.  Minerals?  I always pick up minerals as I'm cruising around on joyrides with the Mako.

Since some people were wondering about it, multiple previews all confirm that you get to chose who's alive, Kaidan or Ashley, before the game starts if you do NOT import a save:

"As we're offered the usual pre-game choices for the new player, there's a wistful thought that we could have brought our previous game save in. Background story, military type, whether we play for story or challenge. Choose those comrades fallen in the previous mission."
www.gamereactor.eu/previews/15451/Mass+Effect+3%3A+The+First+Hour/

"Seeing as we had no save game with us to continue our experience, Mass Effect 3 – as it will be for new players – offered us the usual choices in creating our custom experience. That means new players will be selecting a reputation, an origin – like spacer – their look, their class and also, their combat loss – referring to who you want to save from Mass Effect 1: Kaidan or Ashley. Of course, there’s then the option of choosing to play it as Mass Effect games have been played in the past, or choosing to focus on the action or on the story."
www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-10724-Mass-Effect-3-Hands-On-Preview-%E2%80%93-The-First-90-Minutes-%5BSpoiler-Free-%5D.html

"Before all that, unless you're importing an existing Shepard, you'll have to make a brand new one, fiddling around with your eyes and nose until they look really strange, picking your class and backstory, and telling the game a little bit about some of your actions in the previous adventures - who lived, and who died, for example. Then you have to decide which of three different versions of ME3 you'd actually like to play."
www.computerandvideogames.com/334354/previews/mass-effect-3-the-first-2-hours/

So don't worry about not being able to import the save to the demo, you can still chose your VS :D

1. I'm tired of this conversation.

2. Your paraphrase means nothing to me without context and a link. Sorry, but anybody can "paraphrase" something to their advantage. I actually like to see proof of the claims people make because most of the time, it turns out that they are basing their indignation off of faulty inferences (like the people who have been bashing Jessica and David).

3. I know the jokes can be annoying. I like Kaidan too, way more than Ash. (She's only alive in 2 of my games now and that's thanks to Genesis). It does get old sometimes, but the jests from the devs are made light-heartedly and not meant to be hurtful.

This is off topic but I found this:

"I can confirm that the FemShep that we see in this trailer is not our default, but one that has been created in-game.
The default FemShep that you are presented with at the creation screen is a white female with brunette hair in a bob cut hairstyle and has blue eyes, quite a step away from the red-head, green eyed FemShep that fans voted for on the Mass Effect Facebook to grace the cover of the special edition."

For those interested about the femshep in the recent video footage and the part about the default shep.
Here's a link to the article if you want to read it.
