I never made the connections between Liara's and Jacob's romances. You are totally right. It seemed that no matter what you did you were almost forced into the relationship. Plus all of the marketing and "canon" doesn't help things. Liara is cool and all but if I want to romance a companion, it should be my choice and my character should instigate it.

You just proved my point. RL is not the game but VS love interest DOES reflect real life perceptions and beliefs about love and relationships whereas Liara is a fantasy, since no one in real life is like that.

Actually yes, I do like Kaidan, more than Ashley. He is more useful (a Sentinel, whereas Ashley is simply a grunt), he looks better from a purely aesthetic point of view, he doesn't irritate as she does, since he is soft spoken and quiet, so yes, in a way I do like him.

And yes, in a fantasy game, I want a fantasy love, plenty of Kaidans in real life to go round.

I am sorry if you felt that I was bashing Liara. I do like her character a lot but she is not my fantasy. I do understand your preference but please understand that not everyone likes Liara like you do. My only knock on Liara is really due to the marketing. I am just tired of seeing her and Garrus in everything. Plus I feel that the VS loves their Shep as much as Liara does though it different ways because they are different people. Anyways, why are you hanging out in a thread dedicated to Kaidan when you dislike Kaidan/Ashley. I respect your opinion but please respect mine as well.

Well............ here's a thought then... a suggestion, if you will...........
When you pop in here discuss some of the things you do (in a way) like about him... And if you don't like Ash (I love her btw.. but it's your choice) don't talk about her... I don't start discussions about characters I don't like because I feel that I can't approach it in a balanced way... 
Focus on things you like, on the positives And leave the comparisons behind they cause more resentment than anything.... Feel free to create lots of Liara posts.. but leave the VS out of it.
Traditionally Kaidan/Ash/Liara fans have stuck together... let's not set about ruining that.. it would be a shame...
