Yes, because that is the way he is, he will only open up if you are with him.

But that completely shuts out MaleShep from even having the convo. You can have close meaningful relationships with people you are not in love with. 

Apparently not. I watched hubby play ME1 with his Sheploo and the Kaidan conversations he got were pitiful compared to FemShep. I believe friendship paths have received more attention for ME3, which makes me excited if it turns out to be true.

I made a shep who did everything completely opposite of my cannon. Yes it felt very odd to the point I got sick to my stomach but now I get to see how the changes effect the game. Pretty much everything that could be killed in ME1 did. It felt so not me but hey I'm very curious about her now. Now I'm sticking by with exact opposite in ME2 so I will have to destroy the heretics,  don't let garrus kill sidonis, since that is exactly the opposite. However I will not hand over the base to TIM.

I fully plan to make a brand new Shep just for ME3, that way I won't be tempted to romance Kaidan in the first game (because the only way I've avoided so far is playing as Sheploo), to see how that changes the relationship.  Of course, I'll probably just end up hitting on him in ME3, thus defeating the point.  Although, I do plan for this Shepard-to-be to hook up with a new LI in ME3... if there are any.

I love that talk with Jacob because it's like it's exclusive to him and his romance path. I hope more of the LI's Take interest in Shepard's well being since she's been through hell. thoguht Kaidan's letter does indicate hat he does as well.

Does anyone think they will be able to be strong and stay away from him for a playthrough?

They did say Shepard gets more of a chance to be human in ME3.  I'm hoping that involves LIs (Kaidan) too.

I guess the best advice I could give you is to wait till your actually in ME3 and just go with how you feel. If you can't resist then you can't resist. I have a Kaidan/Thane triangle and that is going to be hard seeing how one is dying. Can I resist Kaidan then? I won't know till I play it. I've romanced Kaidan, Liara, Thane, and now working on Ashley. So if you can't stay away you can't.

Very quickly I just wanna say that I don't expect BW ppl to censor themselves. At the same time, don't expect me to censor myself. I'm not one of those ppl that feel the need to make nice when I'm being disrespected. And yes, the operative word is "feel". But is it not better to be open and honest so if it is a misunderstanding, it can be resolved? I consider it an act of respect.

It is a woman's duty to speak up if she judges a situation to be unjust. It is her role to call out even God Himself if need be. Well, it use to be anyway...and He loved her for it. She was His greatest ally because of that. A woman that sits and makes nice although everything in her is screaming otherwise, is doing herself and those around her a disservice.

I believe in treating ppl fairly. I truly do. We are all fellow travelers. And this path is....tricky. But I cannot be silent when I feel something is wrong.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Kaidan in FemShep trailer? YAY! I...I..thought that was assumed already, but..okay..YAY.

Yeah, Jacob is the only one that gives a darn. Sometimes when I was playing I was just like, am I the only that thinks Shep just went thru something crazy?

In the Kasumi bit, I remeber walking around the party and ppl were talking about Shep reportedly being back from the dead. Or, surviving. And the NPC said, "Freak."  Funny thing is, I felt like it was the only genuine response to what was actually....freaky.

Playthoughs...have 2 Kaidan-loyal of either alignment, a Kaidan-Thane triangle, an Ashley-romanced that still need to be pulled through ME2 (will be simple, he's a xenophobe who will let all aliens die), a Liara-Jacob triangle.  Only one missing is a Garrus, which I still couldn't bring myself to do, and the ME3 s/s who only talks to Kaidan.  The Renegade Kaidan-loyal was meant for Garrus, but she threatened to go all-Jilani on me.

So much to do to prep for ME3, and no time!  Demo, TOR...I need more time!

I can't remember who mentioned not playing the demo, but I'm right there with ya! I'm staying clear from the SP demo, but I'll take a stab (or 12) at the MP demo. I came into the Mass Effect Universe well after release (mid 11' or so) and read nothing on them other than if I liked DA that these were suggested games. I loved them, obviously lol. But I remember playing the demo for DA2 and after I got the game it just didn't have the same 'gasp' or 'wtf' factor. If the ME3 demo is 90 minutes I'd rather just experience it for the first time when I attack it for an entire day lol. I definitely won't mind some screenies though!!!

Will this area become mega plot spoiler-esque after demo?!?!

And artists... my oh my... you artists!!! Amazing. I can't even explain the awe I have in your work!!! The youtube video was amazing - I don't even know how you get that level of detail and finesse on a computer. My computer artistic talents are limited to Microsoft Paint!!
