Edit: Is that your blog in your sig? Because the first post is titled "Why I Hate Kaidan", and that's not a very nice blog post if you ask me.
LOL it was a project I started with my sister. We were both playing ME. Her for her first time and me for my umpteenth time. My name is Kaycee and so she was refering to me in the post heh. She hated Kaidan with a passion. And then she gave up on the project/ME cause she sucked so hard at it. She's a MMOer and can't play shooters. I just never got around to taking it off my sig.

I think today's info will be demo-related - the other way to get early access, maybe - and character / story / whatever day will be Thursday and Friday. Ah, Friday is also Alliance News day, so I expect something to appear at Thursday, as a replacement of BW Pulse which is on hold.Bekkael wrote...
That femshep thread made me want to spit nails. I posted quickly and got the heck out. Sexist stuff just makes my blood boil.
Still hoping for femshep/Kaidan trailer tomorrow. I know, I know, I'm delusional.
I'm actually getting Kingdoms of Amalur tomorrow, after all. Anyone else planning to?
KoA? I'm totally getting it, but release date here is 9th. Wait, wait and wait again... ugh.

Also I have been frustrated that us Kaidan fans are basically not taken seriously. We complain once and all of a sudden we are whiny babbies? In the end though all that matters is we will have our Kaidan again in ME3 in a huge role. Which all the people that are hating on Kaidan and Ashley are going to have to just deal with the fact that the VS is a huge part of the story. Yikes sorry for the rant but lately it seems we have been getting the crap deal out of everything between the constant, we don't need femshep trailer waaah and Kaidan is dumb why is he in main story waaah(or Ashley). I do feel sorry for the LI of ME2 if they don't actually at one point end up spending time with them. Yet none of them know if their actually will be able to spend time with them. Maybe after the war??? Who knows at this point.
Ok I will hush up now. Just been a little frustrated and staying out of general forum because this is the only place that feels like home and I love ya all.<3

There are alot of thread regarding the squad line-up in ME3, saying that most people arent happy that the ME2 characters are being overlooked and will there be DLC for them etc, when these exact same people were telling the VS fans to shutup basically when we wanted more content for ME2
Dont even get me going on to FemShep threads

Yeah, we went a whole game without our LI, so if they start complaining, well now they know how we feel! It will suck though for those who played on ME2 on like the PS3, they didn't have the awesome of Kaidan or the... Ashley. And then they don't get anything in ME3. Maybe that's why they're adding all the new possible LI's in? Because they are like "yeah no one liked_____ (jacob) so just give them someone else."

It's ok, Kaidan. I don't care if only 10% of people saved you on Virmire. You still matter to me
i don't mind if people boast about killing kaidan. just say "so you support a strong woman who knows her own mind, became a spectre in her own right, and kicks ass? power to you, my friend." either it's true or you infuriate them; it's a win-win

Lately I don't know what the hell is wrong with all these anti-femshep hate threads are about. It's almost like we are challenging their manhood or somehow femshep is going to over throw Sheploo. Then they go into stupid stastics! I really don't give a damn about stastics. I'm a female gamer and I'm not going away because the majority are male so the gaming companies should cater to them. In fact I think game companies are realizing more females are interested if they include female option. So it makes me very sad to see all this hate towards femshep. One trailer and such a fuss from the guys because we want to see her in action.
Don't get me started on the femshep threads...I actually do think that the hostility to some extent IS a matter about some little boys out there viewing gaming as a male territory which- oh noes- is being more and more frequented by women. The fact that women have been there all along, although everybody assumed that those women were men (because doh, women can't be gamers), has totally gone over their heads. That's why the femshep issue tends to get into a debate about the whole feminist issue. It's about a fear that men will lose their privileges and lose ground as women take more place and make more demands. Which is pretty silly, considering that femshep is just a character in a game, and in no way is intented to replace Sheploo fully. If you don't like her- don't play as her. Luckily, there seem to also be men out there that realize this.
I do doubt the "20%" statistics, especially since everybody is giving a different version of how that was measured.
And even if it is "only" 20%, this is still a pretty large demographic, especially considering that this group has not been marketed to!
That's my 2 cents. But maybe it's better to leave the topic well alone as it has a tendency to get very inflamed.
I'm glad there's this thread, though. This is a peaceful little part of the BSN, full of Kaidan love and very few arguments. It's quite a nice place <3

I've been irritated for DECADES by the way women have been both marginalized and objectified by the gaming industry. For a long long time they seemingly didn't want us playing their games (although it probably just never occurred to them that we might like to), but they sure as hell wanted busty f***-me dolls for the gaming guys to look at - mainly in fantasy RPGs, to be fair. The one thing I will say that (partially) excuses it is that there were far, far less women gaming then than there are now.
But that's the point today, isn't it? Women are becoming just as avid gamers as guys, and in increasing numbers. Thanks to MMOs and to companies like BioWare and Bethesda, I'm able to play as a female and she doesn't have to look like a porn star or act like an airhead. She can be attractive, yes, but not over the top. And the emphasis can be more on her strength of character, intelligence and abilities than just what you see on the surface.
It's why I love Mass Effect so much - Shepard is the single most enjoyable character I've ever played (followed closely by my Wardens and Hawkes). It's also one of the reasons I appreciate Kaidan and the other LIs that we're offered. He's a strong individual who can be with our Femsheps (and hopefully our Sheploos soon, for those who have been waiting) without sacrificing his own character, wallowing in insecurity, or wasting his time trying to be overly macho just to prove that he "wears the pants." Mass Effect isn't just a great game series, it's a refreshing one for gamers like me.
And wow, this post ended up way longer than I had planned on making it.
TL:DR Version - Female gamers exist - there are millions of us. BioWare is in the vanguard of making games more appealing and enjoyable for female gamers, and they're reaping the rewards. Other companies need to either wake up, or get left behind.

I could go back and retry the SM to get Jacob killed, but I had terrible glitches with it yesterday (thought that I had a corrupted save) and really want to keep this Shepard for import, and I don't think it's fair to Jacob to do that. If I can't rekindle the Kaidan romance in ME3 I will be disappointed.
I'm attempting to cheer myself up with the thought that, at least, this will be different from all the faithful Shepards that I have, because she also has the decisions that I don't usually choose (council, genophage, geth, and now Kaidan).
And yes, thank goodness, this is a peaceful thread for a great character.

as for being a female and a gamer, well i wouldnt say i'm an avid gamer. i mean i've played halo though mostly online with my brother. but the first game i ever truly liked was the fable series. i even kept telling my brother no everytime he was like 'you should try mass effect i think you'd like it' but the day i finally succumbed to boredom and picked up mass effect i didnt put that game down until i finished it, then moved on to mass effect 2, and then played mass effect 1 again. this took like two days.
and thats because of how awesome femshep is.
she had a voice, was strong, and wasnt a complete bimbo.
if video game companies were smart, they'd get on the femshep wagon and start making charcters that women can connect to. and market them!

Woman 30+ here also, not a great gamer though... I play a game once every 3 years I think. Not because I dislike video games in general, but because I'm not interested in games with hyper-virile machos as heros and air-headed bimbos at their side.
So, well, I completely agree with you. The reason why I love mass effect IS femshep. She is so awesome ! She is the very first femaler character I play who embodies all the qualities I'd like to have IRL. and it's refreshing to see such trust and responsabilties on the shoulder of a woman, for once.
And Kaidan is the perfect LI for her. Their alchemy is magic.
They are the very first "perfect couple" (in my feminist but men loving view) I've met in a video game... perhaps there are others, as I said I don't play a lot.

Anyone know if it's possible to move saved games from one Xbox account to another? I naturally played ME on my non Xbox Live account and have to complete a few games on my Xbox Live account now in order to import them into ME3 and use MP for those games. *sigh*
Once the trailer comes out next week... is this thread going to be littered with plot spoilers or will it still be relatively safe?

I'm not sure about the accounts -- could always ask my boyfriend considering he's the one who owns a 360. I imagine there might be some spoilers but nothing too bad. Probably just new screenies of Kaidan from the demo (which would definitely be WELCOME.)

Femshep is the strongest and best lead female character I've encountered, and Kaidan is a very believable LI for her. I'm pretty sure if any of us were military heroes fighting a desperate struggle against hoards of alien machines hell-bent on destroying the galaxy that we'd all agree that Kaidan would be a very highly desirable +1.
