I'm thinking with Garrus it will really be a one night kind of thing. Everything he says seems to indicate that he's not really into Shep, he just wants to unwind before the big mission. So I can't really see a whole lot of conflict between Kaidan and Garrus for Shep's affections. I also wasn't as into the ME2 romances as I was for Kaidan in ME1.
I do have to say, however, that for my broShep who romanced Ashley in ME1 and played around with Miranda in ME2, I'm not sure how I want that to work out in 3 yet. I'm going to see where it takes me. I initially wanted it to be him just fooling around (even told Tali as much) but he might just choose Miranda over Ashley in the end. I don't know. And this is the only thing that has me actually interested in continuing broShep into ME3. Because as far as I'm concerned femShep is the only true Shep.

Garrus: So Garrus is the best out of the three cause he's like Batman or something. First thing, though, like Thane, I'm not attracted to a guy who looks like a dinosaur. It's like if my dog began walking around on two legs, grew 6 feet, and began to talk. I'm still not going to want to have sex with him. After that, like his sarcasm and humor so I thought about it. But in the end, you basically have to force him into it. With Kaidan it was a natural, gradual thing. With Garrus it just doesn't seem like love. It's more like 'what the hell, we're best friends, right?'.

I just said no to all of them. I had no real connection with any of them and I just don't think any of them were fit to be in a relationship with Shepard. So every Shep, it's still Kaidan in the end. I might try one save where I romance Garrus, just to see what happens in ME3, but maybe I'll just look it up on youtube. I mean, imagine going up to them after that whole thing in ME2 and being like, "ha, sorry, I actually want to be with Kaidan. You were just the rebound." Yeah, I don't want to do that to any of them.

I understand your reasoning, and I felt the same way on my main Shepards (of which there are three lol). It was only as the months dragged on and I replayed ME1/ME2 with more characters that I decided to try all the romances. Taken on their own, I think they are all quite good. It was hard for me to judge them without comparing them to Kaidan (which they all fell short IMO). If I had never played ME1, perhaps my reaction would have been different, I don't know... It's nice they have the choices they do in the games, because different characters affect each player differently. Choice is a wonderful thing.

I am also kinda bugged by the one type of romance you mentioned that they seem to have in a number of their games: the romantic interest with the dead wife. <_< Off the top of my head, they had that in ME2, Jade Empire and KOTOR. I don't care for that backstory...especially when the LI speaks about them numerous times. Just not my thing and it always makes me feel bad.

Of course not!  But if you're bored waiting for ME3 to come out, 1&2 have pretty high replayability. 

Try being a renegade instead of a paragon, change up the human councilor, pull a gun on Conrad Verner!  I have several saves just to see how the different choices I make play out in the final game.

Just the way you behave toward Conrad makes a huge difference from one playthrough to the next. I didn't know until my renegade told him to go get lost....and he did. :(

I've got some Shepards. But I had never finished their playthrough. I had some on PC but now I've got Xbox 360 and all my PC saves are useless (I won't have ME3 on PC) <_<.

You never know what youv've got until it's gone
Conrad is annoying, but I feel bad pulling a gun on him. Shepard is his hero. I don't want him to be disappointed in her.

I had to go halfway back in my game last night and use the Samara glitch to get my paragon bar full. I don't like to cheat, but the reputation system in ME2 is bogus. I had full paragon at the end and I can't convince Miranda and Jack to back down? So I cheated and now it's fine. I want to have everyone loyal for my redhead Shep in ME3.

And the dead wife thing is ridiculous. They talk about their wives as if they were the greatest beings ever concieved. Then they say, "oh you're just like them." Great, so I'm a substitute for your dead wife who you are obviously still desperately in love with. It would make more sense if they were like "wow, you are nothing like her at all." That makes you feel less like a replacement and more like an individual, a different type of relationship, brand new. If their dead wife just suddenly came back to life, what would they need you for if you are just like them?

Gah! I was so glad to be busy at work (to avoid refreshing my page every five seconds like I did yesterday), only to find there's still no news.

@ Major Alenko: I love that he got promoted! Definitely proud of his achievements and hard work. I'm really looking forward to hearing his opinions about certain missions just like ME1. And, of course, I can't wait to "serve under him".

@ ME2 romances: All the Sheps I have romanced Kaidan and I don't think I can ever cheat on him. Maybe in the far, far distant future I'll create a Shepard for each romance just to experience it, but not any time soon. I'm too focused on Kaidan.

Jacob - The one time I went near him, I couldn't get out of the armory fast enough. Poor guy. I want to like him, but I just can't get through the dialogue.

Thane - Really like his background, and I find him interesting. His solipsism episodes kind of freak me out. I don't think they would bother me so much if it was more of an internal thing, but the guy just spouts of random memories in the middle of a conversation. It's a little...odd. But if I ever get around to getting the Genesis comic, I'll definitely romance him.

Garrus - He's so cute! I think I like his "romance" the most just because he's so freakin' adorable. But my Shep doesn't feel that way about him. They're just really good friends.

@ Kaidan's picture: In my headcanon, Miranda placed it there. The Normandy, Joker, Chakwas, Garrus, Tali, Kai's pic...I think Miranda wanted for Shepard to feel "at home" - like nothing had changed in the past two years that Shep was dead. However, I don't think Miranda was expecting Horizon...

Also, in regards to Kaidan's picture, has anyone ever gotten a clear answer as to why Anderson has his pic on his desk at the embassy? I know we've speculated about it before, but have the developers ever brought it up?

I think it is generally accepted that this is just a glitch---except maybe by conspiracy theorists.

Only every romanced him with my one female didn't cheat, I had a male with a liara romance but didn't like it, doing a new single mShep now for 3, also trying to get the "Species" Ally achievements but I miss having Kaidan on my team. Well at least I won't have him break character because the other teammate is pro alien (seriously such a silly thing to do, why is it so bad to pick a squad that ends up falling in line with your own character why does one need to be opposed). Completely forgot that MShepard is there staring as he goes to speak to him and wipes away sweat (what's in his locker that makes him so sweaty?) shame he loses out on a chunk of dialogue based on gender of you too, everyone has something to say you Shepard post spectreizing except him. :/

Also forgot how little joker and Chakwas have to say in ME1 in total, hope they keep the improvement (although in 2 Chakwas still lacked past the drinking scene).

it isn't the nices thing to do, but you can make Kaidan resent aliens (make him renegade, and you will notis some big changes about him)

I think the Dead Wife plot is a little weird if you think about it, but I find it romantic that they were so in love with their wife.  Plus nothing is sexier than someone who's a parent (even if it didn't work out right).

you should still be nice to him, but keep saying things in favor of human. I can't remeber when but at one point he will start about how aliens are just like human, disagree with that.---

P.S s/he takes the renegade option there the first time, but works just as well with Paragon
