I haven't read all the fanfics (although I'm working hard on it ), but at the moment my favourite one is a soldier's duty by JaerWolfe. Lots of humour and emotion, and a very nice psychological work on the characters. Plus, the subject is original compared to most of the Shenko Fanfics (it explores Kaidan's past).

Thanks Altie, I'll definitely check it out. So far I'm in the thick of "Manipulations". I think it's pretty well done. However, I'm intrigued by a story that explores Kaidan's past.

To much combat well I don't hear anyone else complainting about the war game about to much combat. ME 3 is war going on, and I think some people totally forgot about that part. and I am going to rekindle my romance with Kaidan.

@Sheps loyal to Kaidan.  I currently  have 5 in ME2 and 4 were loyal to him, the soldier I"m working on will stay loyal, not sure about my baby engineer I haven't played yet.  I always say I'm gonna try someone else just to see it, but so far one run through with Garrus is all I've managed

Woo boy, here we go with the long post again.

I see a lot of the arguments there that I see every day on these forums. Just a couple of things. DA2 development time was way too short and I think Bioware knows that. Bioware knows that DA2 was probably one of their worst games. I don't think they make that mistake twice. Plus, Dragon age has different writers and developers. You just can't compare the two.

As far as the large amount of action, to me, there is no doubt they are using action mode in these trailers and teasers. They also realized their mistake from the massive spoilers in ME2 and this way, they kill two birds with one stone. Show off the combat to attract the shooter crowd and keep most of the game's secrets under wraps. I mean we know there will be dialogue choices, interrupts, and great storylines. We know what the dialogue system looks like in Mass Effect. Most of the RPG crowd already knows about Mass Effect and Bioware. Do we really need to see dialogue options that could spoil the surprise?

Multiplayer is also fine. It was created by a completely separate division. It isn't necessary to get the full experience. I know core fans didn't really have any interest, but does any of it look immersive breaking? Does it not make sense in the ME universe? Does it look like they just phoned it in, just to have it in the game? Absolutely not, it looks like a lot of fun and connects to the central plot. They could've easily done something stupid like have a bunch of Shepards running around killing each other on random locations. It would've been easier than setting up this whole system, but they didn't. Even if you want all the achievements, you don't have to play MP to get them. So really, what's so bad about multiplayer? Playing as your favorite alien species? Enjoying the game with your friends?

Origin, I can't comment on. I'm a pure console player and I have a mac. It sounds like it sucks but I really don't know. 

A couple of things that work in the game's favor:

All our favorite characters are back in significant roles. Despite the enormous amount of variables from all these choices and deaths, Bioware has decided what the hell and put them all in. Kaidan, Ashley, Liara, Garrus, and Tali are all possible squadmates. That is 5 of the 6 original, 4 of which can die. Then all the ME2 squadmates, the people you've met over two games, people in the novels are included in this game. Voice actors voicing roles of people who may be dead for a lot of people. They are putting in content which people may not see at all and they don't care, as long as those people who played this series to death get to enjoy this content. That is insane and I never thought they'd be able to pull this off. 

How about all the choices? Collector Base, the Council, Rachni, Genophage, romances, Virmire survivor, paragon or renegade, is Wrex alive, Legion and the Geth, Tali and the quarians, your treatment of Cerberus, etc., etc. Look at all this stuff that they need to cover and integrate. Just so much possible dialogue and story. Me thinks they need money for all this. 

So you draw in the casual shooter fans with marketing about multiplayer, action mode, and other gimmicks, but in the meantime you still put in all those story and character elements for the hardcore bioware fans. Boom, there's your extra income and you haven't sacrificed the quality of your game. It is possible that they take out certain RPG elements and the big time RPG fanatics will be upset. But I've always played Bioware for the story anyway, not how much loot I can gather and how many ways I can upgrade my weapon.

I have a lot of faith in this game. I really believe that it will be one of the greatest games I've ever played. Maybe crazy expectations but ME1 and 2 have entertained me more than any other video games since I started playing Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario. This game has romance, action, adventure, space battles, role playing, great characters, and expedition. This game is going to kick ass.

Woot - got uglyshep through ME1, didn't get Krogan Ally achievement (must have been pinnacle that messed me up, didn't realise it counted and I used Ashley a lot there before I Virmired her), romanced Kaidan again, saved council, Rachni Queen and all the silly Feros colonists, just like my paragon canon shep, however I did put a gun in Conrad's face, I shot Rana thingie the bioscientist friend of Saren, and I promoted Udina - I may live to regret that one

And now, to ME2! again! Will uglyshep get pretty in the ME2 remesh or should I remodel her? Or do I just leave her ugly? Out of interest, have any of you remodelled an imported shep? Wouldn't it be good if the others noticed if Shep healed her scars or changed her hair - or remodelled her entire face!

I made him pro-alien, but still in the Rachni scene he was the one to point out the tanks and them being there for a purpose because I had Liara with me who seems to have a priority on being pro-alien and for some reason BW thought it was a good idea that one team mate would advocate one choice while the other would do the other choice. Same happened with the council at the end, he turned all it's bigger then Council and I think it was Tali who became pro-council...which is odd both become out of character, Tali shows clear resentment for the Council for booting the Quarians out of the embassies.

I really hope the same doesn't happen as I drag Kaidan everywhere in 3, I kinda get why they did it for some conflict, but if you choose people based on thier personalities as they fall more in line with your's or your playstyle they shouldn't become contrary for the sake of it. It's like if you pick more paragon people as you play paragon and one always becomes dissappointed in your choice, I didn't take Morrigan anywhere in DA:O because I got tired of it fast, shame too when she wasn't such an extremist she was alright. But I think they learnt from those and ME2 didn't suffer anything like that, the characters each had thier own opinion on the matter not one of two to choose from based on the squad.

Edit: Wierd, I just watched the video you posted, I'm confused now, can't work out whether wrex is pro council or screw them, Kaidan seems to think he's agreeing but surely being bigger then humanity means it's worth sacrificing them for alien council members. Maybe they can agree if both are strong enough but 2 playthoughs both making him pro alien when garrus was with us he approved of saving them and tali he dissapproved.

Too late to think off too watch my Mshep stare awkwardly at sweaty kaidan over his screen...seriously though what on that screen. First time I saw that I was like "Well this is awkward" fits to with the amount of silence before dialogue happens lol.

Yep!  I've done it the past few playthroughs because I've used my one lvl 60 shep in multiple ME2 runs and was getting sick of looking at the same chick.

Always envisioned a talk between Shepard and Kaidan about Conrad's infatuation.  The conversation ends with Kaidan saying that he would be fine if Shepard cheated on him with Conrad.  Is there a fic out there to describe the above?  If not, there should be.

How bad is 55-60 then? The one playthough where I did everything got me to 55 I figured the last 5 would be one playthough more if that. Curious because I've decided to get multiple sheps ready for ME3, something to kill the time. Also whats harder, insanity at 60 or starting at level one, was going to attempt that achievement when I've got to 60 and have all awesome gear. (Semi Kaidan related I'm doing it to see variations with him mostly and in the vain hope he's been holding back feelings for my ManShep, just like Conrad Verners "wife").

I'm keeping all of mine the same, although I'm really hoping ME3 allows you too keep the Default model Shep but change his hair, facial hair and scars, maybe eye color too. I'm never happy with the custom models they always end up looking wrong in some way, usually gaunt from certain angles, I personally just think they done too good a job with the default to use anything else anyway as Miranda once said "(S)He's a bloody icon". Keep your ugly shep ugly though, I'm sure it's hilarious, especially with some of the less then good facial animations.

Really that bad? >.> On 360..., Maybe I won't mind as much as most every MMO I've ever played I've been an Altoholic, in WoW before I hit breaking point I had over half the classes at 85.

Kaidan Related: Anyone not able to Kill him in Virmire? I think if I want to see her in ME3 just to check it out I'll have to use it's Genesis equivalent.

Edit love the pics btw, I sure thats conrad alone staring at the photo he took of Shepard (yes Im ignoring the extra hand on purpose). Maybe Calibrations is a mistranslation for sexual stuff in the turian language, surely those auto translators must have some bugs.

Which is funny.  If you have Kaidan and Liara together at the end, it's LIARA (the ALIEN) who's advocating abandoning the Council.

Not bad at all, especially on casual or normal.  Just kill everything on foot and you should get to 60 in one playthrough, assuming you do the side missions.
