But if you've remained loyal, then it'd be adding drama for the sake of adding drama. I'm not a fan of angst, I don't want anybody to be fighting over love interests, they're trying to save the galaxy, not trying to find a date for the junior prom.

I agree completely. There are few things as worse as contrived drama.

I really don't think that Vega is the same James in the email, but for speculation sake let's just assume that he is for a moment...  We've been told that there will be major consequences for cheating on any LI in ME2 so if a romanced Ashley gets "cheated on" in ME2 maybe Vega is that consequence?  How much would it suck to have a scene where Shep comes clean with Ashley (if he "cheated"), she doesn't take it well and pursues a relationship with Vega... right in front of Shep on his own ship...  THATWOULDSUCKSOBAD!!!  

I do hope that this is not the case, but I am looking forward to finding out more about him and what he's all about.

I rather Ash chew out Shepard and give him a right hook and then cue the make-up sex and all is forgiven

First of all: Ash is no drama queen - if she were, that romance confrontation scene with her and Liara in ME1 would have gone very differently - so, no to catfight!

I really hope Vega is not the James from the letter. I am not the jealous type, but this idea doesn't sit well with me. I don't mind her having someone before me or moving on after my death, but it better not be someone I have to work with.
Besides, we have two Jacobs in ME1 (one dead, one brain-dead) and another one as squadmate in ME2, so Bioware clearly has no problem with giving the same name to different people.

Plus the random "Williams" they decided to throw in there during "Arrival".   At this point, I suppose they were just teasing us?

I thoguht so too cuz I was playing a game wher eI saved ash, but ti's the same in the game wher e Kaidan is alive, if it had chnged to "they got Alenko" I'd hav ehtought Bioware was slpping VS fansin the face.

Not sure if this has been said, but I interpreted the email as proof that Ash still suffers from survivor's guilt.

I am pretty sure I read that the James in the email to her sister had to do with a Bioware staffer that left, so it was a little inside "joke" for the devs.

Ash has lots of survivor guilt. Her unit, Kaidan, Shepard, hell even JENKINS. It's one thing to lose fellow marines, it's a whole other thing to lose like....all of them....
