Hey, quick question, has anyone found who wrote the Ash scenes for ME 3? I was worried with the original writer off that they would play to the "lulz xenophobe" stereo type that ash haters keep repeating, but the writer seemed to nail Ash's character almost the entire time. There was very little I was tempted to ever facepalm over and those were just a couple of the "zaeed" style lines. Taking ash on the Cerberus base mission was absolutely awesome.

Ashley: Simply can't imagine you resigning after the war. That's all.
Shepard: I can. At least for a while, a year or so. Call it a "sabbatical year" - I need one. Being dead for two years doesn't count - after all, no one paid me for that time. *grins*
Ashley: "Sabbatical year" - sounds good. Mind if I have one too?
Shepard: It's up to your CO, Ash.
Ashley: That's you, stupid.
Shepard: ... right. Request granted. As soon as the war is over, we're going to have that year. Just you and me and a lonely planet. No Joker interrupting our romantic moments, no mad Krogans headbutting, no asskicking and no Reapers. Just you. And me. And no one else.
Ashley: Sounds neat.
Shepard: You'll love it.
Ashley: As long as I can stay with you, it's going to be perfect. *leans in for a kiss*

The answer's rather simple. We care about the characters (Ash in our case) more than the writers themselves do. And for the record, Garrus was probably only beast in that game because he had a different writer.
