Ash should not be a brand new romance because it will water down her continuing romance. I doubt Bioware will write in two different romances. Imho players who have not played ME1 or ME2 should not be rewarded while those who have played either or both get punished.

Ash question time.

Since Bioware has pushed the game back until march they've had tons of time to add things and they've chosen to add to realtionships. that being said alot of people who haven't played Mass Effect will pick up ME3 and be introduced to the series though it. That being said what's your opinion on Ash being a pursuable romance in ME3 with no prior Me1 or 2 saves on the hard drive/memory unit of the system a new palyer plays on?

Personally, I think it should happen because new players should be punished for not having heard of or playing the series with Ash possibly bringing up the romance and her saying "you had your chance" when the player has not had a chance and cannot get a copy of a 4 year old game. plus, the more Ash fans the better imho.

As long as it doesn't take away, or water down, anything, for those who have been with her since ME1, I have no problems with it.

im against it,and heres why.

im usually highly annoyed by ppl who play games midway through the franchise and expect to be catered to.i know that probly includes a few who post on these threads, but still.....also mass effect one is in every gamestop if you cant be bothered to spend 19.99 and a few hours catching up,then thats to bad for you.if your playing Mass effect 3 then your missing ONE and TWO,if you miss out on something your fault.

im most likely biased....but oh well.

the only ppl i think should get a re-introduction to the romance are the femshep players as they were denied in ME1 and thats unfair,

new ppl can go back and play ME1 and two if they want anything or anybody to carry over.

Restrict Ashley's romance completely?  Heck no.  Because like Ashley I am no wordsmith I will quote David Gaider

David Gaider wrote....

And the person who says that the only way to please them is to restrict options for others is, if you ask me, the one who deserves it least. And that's my opinion, expressed as politely as possible.

All Ash fans old, current and yet to be are equal.  Now should there be a nice little extra tidbit for those who have played ME1, ME2 and ME3...sure why not no skin off my nose.

I'm not a fan of the idea of new romances for old characters. Frankly I feel like it'd feel a little tacked on. Shepard and Ashley's relationship is different between a friend and a lover and the idea that they'd lead to exactly the same thing in ME 3 seems to make romancing her and building the relationship less important in the earlier games.

I have a male Shepard who romanced Liara and then Jack but saved Ashley on Virmire if he could romance her just as easily as the one I had who was loyal to her then I'd feel like my efforts and chocies regarding the LI were relegated to negligible importance.

Ah, but my questionw as for people who have a brand new game, not previous romances. I'm talking a fresh copy of Me3 with no ME1 or two saves. Also, nioware has PROVEN they can make two seperate things in similar areas. Take tuchanka. It recognizes if wrex as alive after virmire or not and Tuchanka is a completely different place without him. Me3 could recognize if you have a previous romance with Ashley or stayed single/didn't play ME1 or two I doubt Bioware would turn on their oldests fans.

Also I love that this question has given more life to this thread. Just as planned.Posted Image

OK. Back when people were arguing about Ashley's outfit, the discussion went over the idea of whether Ashley was Miranda-ized. Now I don't have a problem with Miranda but I wouldn't want her be like character she isn't. So I thought about, "what if she was made like other characters too, even if I liked them? I then started to picture what Ashley would turn into in the third game if she was also Gruntized.

For example -

Shepard: They've seen us.

Ashley: I. AM. HUMAAAAN! *charges forward headfirst and knocks down Cerberus agents*

I would pause the game and proceed to laugh myself out of breath for about 10 miuntes, then resume my game.Posted Image

Weren't we getting some sort of interactive backstory for new players? I know it's not the same as playing ME 1 but it would give folks the chance to pick Ashley before seeing her in the flesh in game. Maybe that was just a rumor?

Mass Effect was intended to be a trilogy and I see no sense in trying to make each game a stand alone in the romance area. The Ash's romance should progress much like how Liara's romance progressed in lotsb.

@Jedi Master of Orion: I think I remember that there was going to be an interactive comic for ME3 so this whole conversation could be thrown out the window.

The sexual tension between Ash and femShep is so thick you could cut it w/ a knife. That said, no skin off my nose which way they go w/ her.

I thought it was just a rumor, which is why I asked the question so maybe someone would say that they'd be able to put that they want ash. But wouldn't that makes some of the "hardcore" faithful people (every fanbase has them) madder that someone could pick up the game and be faithful and get the same content? That's why I'd think a seperate "we waited" romance would be created, since, for RP reasons, some Shepard's might have abstained from the romance due to Regs mutineers or not, and now that the regs don't apply to them (specres and such) they'd be confortable with it since they aren't going against the Alliance. I know people who RP their sheps like that so that's why I brought it up so we could stop mentioning page numbers.Posted Image

Given that ME3 is being delayed so long, BioWare has the chance to add many different romance interactions for Ashley, including new romance for someone who doesn't have a previous save file. More Ash fans means more popularity so I say, why not?

Uh, with the redesign, do you think they would keep Ashley away from new players? I would bet that is why they did that to her, to get people to buy the game...

Besides they plan on having some way for players who haven't played ME2 (and I think ME1) to catch up before they start ME3...so this might not be a big problem.

IIRC, it was Kaidan who said something about moving on.

This is Ash's letter:

Subject: Hey there.

Shepard-

I'm sorry for what I said back on Horizon. When I lost you two years ago, it tore me up. I prayed for you every day. I read a lot of Tennyson, thinking about you, just like I did when my dad passed. And then you came back, and it was like my prayers were answered. But I'm not who I was then, and neither are you.

I don't know what's true anymore. Part of me can't believe it's really you. I keep going back to that night before Ilos, our night... I haven't let myself think about those memories in over a year.

I wouldn't have expected you to work for Cerberus, but I know why they sent you to Horizon. I saw how many people were lost there, and if anyone can stop the Collectors, you can. I can't go where you're going, but I can wish you luck.

Just stay alive out there... Skipper. I don't know what the future holds, but I can't lose you a second time.

Anyone who likes Ashley is a fan. There's no such thing as fake fans since we ash love ashley in our own ways. The OP states that no oneis to start flame wars and "real fan" talk is one of the quickest ways to start them. If you want to romance ash you're obviously a fan of her since you want your PC to get to know her better and get close to her. So let's leave it at that.

New Ash question, from the weapons in ME2 that look like they're returning, what would Ashley's ideal loadout be?

I'd think the Revenant or Mattock AR, Geth Pulse Shotgun, Widow, or Viper SR, and the Locust instead of the pistol as it's insanely accurate. Or I'd give her the arc projector and let her go nuts with it. haha.

That's kind of how I feel.

I also support the same for Liara (and I'm speaking as a 'Liara fan' who romanced her since ME1) as that would fit in with my own Shepard's roleplay a hell of a lot more....to avoid the romance in the first game but then realize your feelings after a few years (and death)...I think that's cool and will work for some...even old fans.

After looking it up on the Wiki, he did mention about moving on & letting his friend talk him into going out for drinks w/a doctor.

because she says it,if you pick the paragon choice after she asks why you didnt contact her when you came back

shepard says "so much time has passed, youve moved on...i didnt want to re-open old wounds".

ash replies "i have moved on,but here you are pulling me back in".

BUT i think she meant moved on from his death and with her life, not nesscarily onto someone else.

EDIT: i belive something along those lines,it has been awhile since ive played through horizon and picked that option as ash dosent recognize garrus's prescance if you pick it.

Indeed. It would make sense to be able to establish a relationship with Ashley, Kaidan, or Liara in ME3. I hope it happens.

Really? Never did paragon choice for that scene. My Shepard was a bit dumbstruck/angry at her. Great scene wish they had more bits where squad mates didn't drink the Shepard koolaid. Can't wait see what unfolds in ME3
