"Lt Cdr Ashley Williams, the galaxy's second human Spectre, was among
the survivors recovered from the wreck of the Normandy. She had assumed a
leadership role in the period immediately following the crash, taking
point on the early planetary exploration teams, and according to multiple
survivors' accounts it was Williams' tenacity and faith that sustained
the settlement in its early days.
Some months following the crash, Williams gave birth to a
daughter, the now-famous Terra Shepard. It was this event that helped the
survivors realize they would need to transition from a military command
structure to a democratically-elected civilian leadership.
After their rescue, Williams and her daughter were reunited with their
family on Earth. Williams and Commander Shepard were married in a private ceremony shortly thereafter.
Though she is retired from active duty and avoids the media,
Williams has released one chapbook of poetry, which received largely
