Oh, snap!  Good. EA had it coming long ago, and it finally bit them in the ass. They slapped us in the face with the endings, and we retaliated with a gunshot and left them bleeding until further notice. And we returned the favor by giving them the choice of an A, B, or C award.

Please don't disappoint again bioware - Ash deserves her happy ending.... I could even take the stranded planet routine as long as Shepard gets stranded with them.

Pardon me if I contain my excitement with that announcement. At least they claim that it'll be free. Still doesn't mean I'm not pissed off because we Retakers called it. <_<

Ouch. That's at least a shot across the bows.
Think it's the sum of all the stuff EA did the past few years like introducing origin. Damaging the Mass Effect series seems to be the last straw that caused THAT kind of action.

Yeah, that's what happens when one f*cks up the most anticipated game of the year after a long list of other game grievances. Corporate greed only works for so long before your fans rise up against you and topple your regime.

I think EA is starting to crack under pressure, so BioWare had to release the announcement to relieve some of that preesure. But I'm still holding on until further notice. Still Holding Our Line.

Yeah, that was what I needed to hear. Now it's what I need to see. I don't trust EA. Too many past grievances with them ruining other game series I've loved like Command & Conquer, Need For Speed, Medal of Honor. I can't forgive them for that, and I definitely won't for Dragon Age and Mass Effect. The damage has already been done, and not even better endings could fix that wound.

Am I the only one who would be completely satisfied if the good destroy epilogue showed my still loving Ash and Shepard reuniting? Seriously, for all the annoyance at plotholes and god children, if there was an ending where I killed the reapers and retired somewhere with Ash(even if the reunion is all that's shown), I would be completely happy.

Joy. Thanks EA. It's not like they F*cked up every other series they've touched. CC4 for one. I wasted my 16 (was that was '09 right?) birthday present money on that one... god, what a waste. It was pathetic. Would have been innovative if it weren't the last game of the series. And the ending was - shock-horror - the same no matter which path you took. You get shot by your CO and Kane leaves. Only difference is whether or not your wife is alive. And honestly in the GDI side, thank GOD she's dead.

I'm sorry, EA of now is pathetic. They used to be good, CC3 was GOOD. Loved every second of it. Loved every second of Kane's Wrath. But the last five years have been horrible to say the least. I'm a lazy person, hence why I play games, but this is seriously making me brush the dust off my nintendo games and play those. A last decade was awesome. Story was more important than graphics.

And sorry for turning this into a non-Ash rant post, but I miss that. The Zelda series never had the best/awesome graphics, but it has one of the largest fan bases that I know of because its cliched but the story is told with a new twist each time. And Ocarina of Time and Major's mask are still names that you hear around the place, hell, they've even been remastered (OOC has, not sure about MM).

I miss the old days where story was everything and graphics were next to nothing in terms of importance...

I miss the days where I could be snarky/renegade to Ash and she'd have a witty comeback and still be tagged as the love interest, not this 'Oh, you renegaded me once in this minute conversation at the start of the game. You don't want to romance me anymore.' stuff. I could joke offhandedly about her sister singing show tunes and she'd have a witty comeback that I'd laugh at...

I miss those Halcyon days...

They really didn't. Sorry to the Ash mancers. Her relationship was awesome, but it could have been better. Shepard/Garrus Bro!mance was better than Ashley's full romance Arc. Hell, Vega's arc was better. Then again, that was a pile of BS because they totally Ship Teased us! Rox Shepard wanted dat tattooed ass! And she was willing to get the tattoo to boot!

I'm out of my genre here so I cannot comment on a lot of what you've said, but I can certainly see where you are coming from. Things have really taken a turn for the worse. Maybe we're just looking back with rose-tinted glasses? I don't know.  I just know I do not like what I see. Greed is the scourge of humanity.

Seriously, you're totally right. I was with the C&C universe from the beginning in 1995 ... and you're totally right. It got worse over the years and ... yup.

It's not just EA, it's also Activision, Ubisoft and the rest of the big Publishers: they all have a tendency to produce mainstream stuff and don't care about their core fans anymore. Those who made them big are abandoned. And that's a shame.

I'm in that business for far more than 15 years - think I got a C64 at the age of 12 - and must say, I definitely miss the times of story driven games (and I was a FPS and 4X fan for a long time - I'm still in that 4X genre and I love RPGs now).
