true, but this is going to be the biggest and baddest game of the series if the reaper war has to start and end in this game. Shepard's story IS ending so all romancs will be tied up or go of into the sunset. They've og tmonths to add new content and finalize stuff.

Cerberus Bioware is the only one doing anything to fight the reapers the Alliance turned it's back on these colonist.

@Reed yeah I saw it in Ashaholcis-Anonymous. I was honestly Shocked to seeit in there. PlusI'm not the only one who likes the S/S idea, there are others. Many others. I say bring it, Ashley's got the third biggest thread in this section of the forums due to all the new and old faces mingling and having good debates.

Ok I got a couple of Ash related questions for those who think Ash should only be available for continuing romances.

1.) This first one travels to hypothetical land so please don't say it's not likely/impossible, I already know that ! If there were infinite zots to be spent making all the permutations of the Ash romances ZOMG! Awesome/Touching/etc would you object to a new romance path?

2.) What do you think about letting people, o/s & s/s, who haven't romanced anyone else in either ME1 or ME2 being able to romance Ashley? I've got some MSheps and Femshep  who for the former has RP reasons not to romance her in ME1 and for the latter couldn't in ME1.

For number 1:
I'd be all for it... multiple ways to romance Ash would be great! <3

For number 2:
I believe I already addressed this on the last page.... what I said:

"The problem I have with newbs being able to romance Ash in ME3.... it means a couple of things...

- Bioware will have to make two versions of the romance (3, if they do S/S as well) to make it unique for the new players just getting to know her and another for the ones who have romanced her previously. Making both versions shorter and having less depth as they only have a certain amount of time and resources they can spend on each character.

Or

- They make only one version with a couple throw away lines for those of us who romanced her all the way through the triology and we get the standard build, build, build, hump time for the romance. So basically, a rehash of what we've done already. 

If they choose the first .... everyone gets the shaft with less quality Ash time and if they choose the second.... guess which group gets the shaft? <_<"

Of course... if they had as much time as the need and could indeed make both versions deep and well done, then I wouldn't mind at all... and like I said earlier... I'd even make a playthrough for it. 

but if it's faithful's versus newbs... obviously I want them to go with the faithfuls... yes, I want my cake and I want to eat it too.

I do not hink Bioware would make fans suffer intentionally. Yeah Ash/Kai were only on Horizon and that was it but they've been made a spectre and "permanent" squadmate. No other squadmate is a Spectre but they are, making them just as important as Liara and Wrex. Bioware's ALREADY said they re making relationships deeper so why wouldn't they make it so fans new adn old could enjoy Ashley? teh games not coing out for 7 months and they were already working on it when LoTSB came out. That's about a year and some change working on this game.

Devs said they don't want you to do that (replaying ME1 and ME2).
They also said ME3 is a great place to get into the ME universe.
They redesigned Ashley

That's not to say they have abandoned those who played from the beginning.

There's still the 'comic like' feature they are putting into ME3 that brings the player back up to speed (or recounts the events of past games).
We don't know the specifics yet, best to wait and find out.

I think the main problem I have with the no new romance position is the assumption that the varying romance paths (lets for this moment of the argument assume there will be old and new with the former being s/s accessible) will require so much work to differentiate and write.  I love Bioware and their romances as much as the next crazy fan person but I do think their quality, size and impact on the game is occasionally over exaggerated

All romance paths in all Bioware games have shared something with other paths such as friendships or rivalry etc. I think the addition of a new and/or s/s romances is at most going to add the equivalent of one romance specific  writing to the game which is a relatively trivial amount.  There would be some difference to be sure, but at heart they aren't really any different. To borrow a quote from Iron Jawed Angels :

“You ask me to explain myself. I just wonder, what needs to be explained? It should be very clear. Look into your own heart. I swear to you, mine is no different. "

ME3 is not ME1, ME2 or any other Bioware game.  No other Bioware game to date has had the amount of time to put extend high quality finishing touches on it.  This game, it's story, combat, gameplay, graphics and yes romances are going to have the expectations, time, manhours and zots put into them that no other Bioware game has had.  I have faith in Bioware not because of belief but because of evidence.  Could they screw it up? Sure anything could happen.  Is it likely with all the extra benefiets they have going into it? No, at the very least it's less likey

That's fine as your opinion just realize, that as of now, they have no basis in fact.  Like I pointed out ME3 is not ME1, ME2 or anyother Bioware game.  The game is having months of high level polish that no Bioware game has ever gotten to date so if you liked ME1 and/or ME2 there is no reason at this time to expect ME3 to do things worse other than pointless US vs THEM fear mongering.

if bioware is willing to put in all that work and are dedicated to make my romance with ash different from the one that the new players will be getting then i am for it.

if not then,no i prefer they didnt do it and let the newbs either enjoy ash as a friend or any of the new LIs who will be in it.


EDIT: i didnt like ME2 all that much. and im not afraid that ME3 will suck. but however this is my oppion on this matter from a pure speculative stand point.

For whatever it's worth I think that if it came down to cutting the quality of the old romances to shoehorn in the new I would be in favor of keeping the old romances high quality. I just find there to be no evidence of that being the case.  Even speculation should be based on facts and reasonable supposition which I don't see any evidence of in the 'no new romances for old LI's' position.

That's the point though... I don't want just a couple throw away lines for the people who have already romanced her... that's like a cheap cop-out or something. Why should ours be ANYTHING like people who haven't romanced her? It shouldn't, I wouldn't think.

If they are making it accessible to new fans... it's gonna be a rehash of what we've done in ME1, b/c they won't know anything about her and will have to go through the ME1 type stuff. We've already learned some about Ash's past, we already know she doesn't trust aliens, hates politics, has sisters, etc... we've already have the romance scene before the final fight. As great as that was, I don't want to do it in two separate games. I want a continuation, not the same ol. =/

As for bioware, you can trust if you want. I prefer to be pessimistic about it, so that if they do indeed screw up Ashley's character a la the redesign (a personality to go with it), or frak up the romance... I won't be as disappointed. And if they work wonders, I'll be pleasantly surprised and will welcome any and ALL "I told you so"s with a smile! lol!
