PseudoEthnic: look around, and you might get the idea we feel the same.

To make up for lack of content, several guys writing dialogues, snippets etc, just to keep Ashley alive in our heads. In the romance scenes, Ash is fine and (almost) feels like Ash from ME1. However, her character gets damaged by the lack of interaction. Ash was talkative, a fun person to have around, loving, really great and a true friend. In ME3, I have the feeling she's cold, too formal, no longer interested in Shepard at all.
So her romantic scenes come quite out of nowhere. Ash feels like two separate persons - one for the "formal stuff" and one for the "love".

Right now, the only way to keep up my love for Ash is to write & read fanfics / dialogues and such. Aaaaaaaand headcanon, of course. ^^

It's good to know that I'm around others who feel the same. I try to headcanon stuff as well, specifically stuff between Ash and Tali. Both were romanced by my Shepard, and I expected(along with other things) more banter between the two, especially since Ashley told my Shepard that she looked to Tali as a "little sister."

Who doesn't? Most, if not all characters, as well as many other parts of game feels like demo-versions of themselves, sort of "more dialogues in full version". Unfortunately we already have full version. And that's my biggest complain to game, not that ending. Game full of good ideas, have some interesting intentions, but there is no proper implementation or execution.

Exactly. And don't forget - she shoots wellImage IPB.
That's why I liked her in ME1 and feel sorry every time I making that choice on Virmire. Even now, knowing how it will turns out at the end. Especially now.

Again, that fits most LIs.
I know, it's heresy to speak it here, but I got impression that only Tali was developed more or less well. "Alive-alike", at least. Others definitely out of place.

I agree, dialogue wise, the Noramndy feels a little dead after certain points, can't really say its just Ash.

Regarding Tali, I think that has to do with the fact that you get her late in the game.

Maybe Ash grew cold and distant after she saw the ME3 endings

That would explain a lot

Probably. When we get her, around 12 hours? Yet we get VS around after 8 hours.

But one thing I dislike in whole trilogy is rest of the crew (or lack thereof). All those unnamed mute persons. They all are there, but in same time they all like they are not - they like furniture.
In ME1 4 marines on watch on upper deck at least saluted Shepard when he passed them by.
In ME2 there were 4 pairs of talkative crew members, IIRC - 1 on second and fourth deck and two on third, plus chef-plumber. And Joker's "idle mode".
In ME3 we got two random marines encircling around deck 2 and 3 and saluting you should you stop them (what's that - cheap version of dog from deck 5?) and lot of crew-members who looks like recycled Adams/Traynor, just standing there, sometimes doing airquotes. Plus those two ladies guarding that blue scanning screen. And Joker poured glue on cockpit's floor, probably just "for old times sake".

Longtime Ashley lover here from the Badpie days (if she is still around, doubt it.)

In ME3 Ashley is really awful. Except for the London scene which really touched me,Ashley is a Miranda early ME2 esque **** in ME3. I dont know if im the only one, but I really wanted a dialogue where Shepard could tell her to shut the F up in a good kind of way. I love her a lot she is amazing and what not, but I felt like a Shep who romanced her should have been able to tell her off for the way she acted towards him (especially if you were loyal in ME2.)

The people who were loyal got ONE line of dialogue acknowledging it. Here I went and completed a 9th ME2 run just to have an Ashley loyal romance file.

I wanted a scene earlier on in the romance where Ashley acknowledged what Shepard was going through (seeing Palaven burn, watching Thessia burn etc) and be there for Shep. There was no such scene. Honestly, her romance (next to Jack and Miranda and of course Thane's) were the worst in the game. I love her character, and I liked the London dialogue.....but all around the romance was really bad, of course also there was the scene with her sister, but it wasnt romantic. You were just being there for a friend in need. It wasnt the kinda thing they developed in ME1.

For me the thing the romance lacked the most was a scene where Ashley acknowledged what Shepard was going through. Instead I got such a scene with Liara, and felt forced to become Liara's friend.

BioWare, for youre DLC priorities: Fix the ending THEN add LI dialogue. Even just a little scene where Shep and Ash bond over people lost on Earth or something similar. VEGA got something like that and he isnt even an LI!!!!

Yeah the lack of a "comforting" scene led me to actually want to start writing a FanFic in the first place. I mean the set up was perfect for it too after Thessia but we got nothing. So disappointing.

To be fair, all of the crew conversations are lacking on the ship. They're nothing like ME1 or ME2 where they were rather lengthy and you used the wheel. Thane's talks were one of my favorite parts of ME2. The only one you really talk to on the ship is Garrus, which is ironic as hell considering all we ever got from him in ME2 was calibrations.

Granted there's other people you can talk to (Eve, Wrex, Victus, Xen, etc..) but it still feels lacking for everybody.

You guys are breaking my heart, but I'm inclined to believe this. I'm not about to go back and sacrifice Ashley in ME1 as punishment for what Bioware does, but it seems like while they fleshed out combat a little better than ME2...they, for some reason, thought to balance it out with even more streamlined dialogue. It's oddly comforting that, even though we don't talk to Ash as much, it's a lot better than what we get with Miranda, Thane...especially Jacob. Gee whiz.

I'm still a way's away from importing my Shepard that romanced Kaidain, but I really don't want to discover he gets more dialogue... I suppose one could rationalize it, saying with the impending Reaper threat, there's no time to get reacquainted with your crew; at this point you know them or you don't.

Now I wouldn't go as far to say she's "hollow" or "cold"...maybe a...softer word, "reserved". The woman has been in one sh*tstorm after another. She gets thrashed by a Cerberus sexbot (although how does she NOT interact with EDI? That's a confrontation that still needs to happen), and when she finally gets better and made Spectre (which, to be fair, is alone a sign of how far she's come), the guy who made her so ends up staging a coup, and she's once again put in a situation where critical information is out of her reach, so she might end up paying for it with her life. And on top of all that, her sister, who's not trained to deal with war, is suffering from it. It seemed to me like...she might have been trying to deal with it all herself. She re-reads family letters and reflects on the memory of her father to remind herself of what she fights for. And she had that drink with Vega because in addition to her personal problems, the Reapers might take it all away.

You might recall, late in ME1 she says something about not having a place in the upcoming war, because she's just infantry, she might as well fire spitballs. Maybe, now that the Reapers are finally here, the fancy title isn't doing much to comfort her and that fear is creeping back, and it's causing her to...withdraw a bit. Although it makes lack of talking all the sadder...romance or no, I would have loved more opportunities to tell her she was, indeed, good enough, although I think the romance, assuming correct dialogue, gets that across.

So yeah...I still don't believe Ash has changed much or she's any less of a character...but I will admit Bioware did not do her total justice. Of course...there are a few characters I believe this company did well in creating, keeping me interested...then end up screwing over.

Wait, you're serious?! I haven't looked at all the romances, but I know that Tali has a comforting scene after Thessia(after you comfort Liara), and it was beautiful. You mean to tell me that Ash doesn't have something like this? Argh!

Why is she so popular i find her to be one of the worst characters in the game, and i find miranda, liara, and tali better love interests and miranda is a lot hotter than ash.

Because every character has their fans, and if you expect us to respect your choice then you need to respect ours.

Everyone seems to have a fire under their ass since PAX for some reason. It is...disconcerting :crying:

I think it would be best to get back to discussing Ash/other LI's respectfully . Bashing doesn't end well for either side (Be you an Ash, Tali, Miri, Liara-mancer)
