For whatever it's worth I think that if it came down to cutting the quality of the old romances to shoehorn in the new I would be in favor of keeping the old romances high quality. I just find there to be no evidence of that being the case.  Even speculation should be based on facts and reasonable supposition which I don't see any evidence of in the 'no new romances for old LI's' position.

the entire topic has no facts,as its not a fact ash will be a renewed LI in ME3 either. that is also speculation with no fact to support it.

Did you miss the point about reasonable supposition or ignore it on purpose?    Also your wrong

Fact: Ash is back as a companion
Fact: There will be reward/consequences for those who stayed faithful/'cheated'
Fact: Casey Hudson has hinted that there will be chances to romance old and new LI's.
Reasonable Supposition: Ashley will be back as a LI for old and new.
Based upon: Word of God stating that it's easier to expand on romances than creating news ones out of whole cloth.  It's simply a wise investment of time and zots.

Random topic switch:

I think the ME1/ME2 Ashley model/hairstyle was far, far more attractie than her current "Miranda-ized" direction. Especially with regards to the hair. It's like a different character altogether.

We're 7 months from the game release. and biowares keeping things close to the vest. they have stated explcitly that relationships with characters, platonic and romantic, will be deeper. I still don't get this whole "you can have her if you don't play ME1" when every relationship is going to be a deeper experience than both of the previous games.

oh blah... that whole post... and not even a "k" ... lol

anyway, as for the hair... I love the new hair. Honestly, you can't really complain about that... a lot of us asked for that and we got it. The part I have problems with is the heels and armor bits... lmao

if thats what you think then thats your bussines,i however choose to think otherwise at this point in time,as i said if they will make it diffrent from the one that i should be getting then the newbs can get to have ash.but if there just going to give us the same romance path and give a few extra lines regarding my past loyalty then im against it.

im also not going to lie i am biased on this subject.

since we have no information on how this will play out i at this point in time will be catious towards this matter until proven otherwise.

Mass Effect has always been about choices and options. Ashley's romance has always been up to the player. Some players paragon her to be more trusting of Aliens and some renegade her to be less trusting and more cynical towards Aliens. No two PT's are the same and that goes for romances. Hell I have a few PT's with the same shep, but the romances with Ash are different. So an Ash romance in my game will be different than and Ash romance in say Sgt. Reed's game.

im wondering how many new players would actually be upset about missing out on a charecter that can be romanced in the first two games but not romanceble in the one they actually have.

would the average gamer even care about it? something to think about imo.

Can you actually make Ashley more cynical and even less trusting towards aliens? I thought you could only do that with Kaidan.

Well it's more of reaffirming her stance and she gets dug into it more.

If they fancy her then yeah. I for one was mad when I popped ME2 in for the first time and said "oh she's badass, there are romances andI want to romance her" and then I got yelled at. It all depends on the player and their Shepard. There were two different Horizons (romanced and unromanced)  and that's when she and Kaidan aren't featured. Just imagine what we get if she is featured.Posted Image

i tell you what though, those new players are in for quit a treat if she dose turn out to be an LI for them,im thinking their not only going to get dialgoue similar to ME1s when getting to know her but also all the new stuff thats ME3 relevant.

makes me wonder what we will get as franchise ash fans.

I think it would be a great marketing ploy if Ash isn't romancable for newbies in ME3.

If they want to experience an Ash romance they would have to buy both ME1 and ME2 which could also lead to them buying the various DLCs which means more money for Bioware.

My personal opinion is that Ashley shouldn't be romancable by newbies in ME3.

I played through ME1 and romanced her and stayed faithfull through the horror that was ME2. Now if newbies get the same romance that I would for playing ME1 and ME2 and the same romance payoff that I am getting then that would make me beyond angry.

They would have to write five romances for Ashley to make that work. (s/s with ME1 and ME2 save; s/s without previous save; MShep cheated in ME2; MShep stayed loyal throughout ME1 and ME2; MShep without previous save). I just don't see that happen.

exactly! that's more Ash fans to talk with and have fun and create art with. I can remember a time when it was the cool thing to bash Ashley and Kaidan on the BSN but now that they're not yelling at Shepard and are back to awesome you won't find many that can say anything wrong about them. I had hope back when they were confirmed as spectre's (which I personally thought was coming and could explain why they were nowhere to be seen) They're the second human spectre, it doesn't get more badass than that for a non protagonist character.Posted Image

that is a well stated ppint, but I don't think bioware wants people to search up and down for a 4 year old game to get into the story in ME3. Although I completely udnerstand your point it does sound a little elitist. Yes you started to romance in Me1 and continued through 2, so I have I and other people, but again why should someone miss out on Ashley's greatness just becuas ehtey've never heard of Mass Effect until this years E3 or after? That jsut my opinion, but I'd love to see alot more new fans so that we can keep this and other ash threads alive since we know Ashley is awesome, so we should show new fans that she's awesmoe as well, doens't that seem fair?

ive always been a supporter of ash being a spectre,i was surprised when some ash fans were resistant to it when it was annouced.....ash just became an offical badass that we always said she was, and  now our arguments are supported by Mass effect lore.

the theory that some have stated worries me alittle.the one where ppl say that she was only given spectre status so the alliance could have a new flag bearer since shepard is AWOL in ME2 woul suck if it turned out to be true.

tbh if she wasnt promoted due to her skill or beacuse of a previously impossible mission she pulled off at some point in time during her being MIA from shepards squad the spectre status plot would suck.

Sheprd was only given spectre sttus to be the flag bearer fo the alliance. You really think a sole survivor shep is an ideal spectre? tht's more akin to being left alone by a mass muderer that being amazing. Not saying Ash isn't spectacular, but being the poster girl might have something to do it but I don't care. At the end of the day she's a spectre and tht's what matters
