gameplay menachnics are more refined and less clunky
Gameplay mechanics totally screwed by projectiles velocity, thermal clips and strict requirements to biotic/tech powers (shields/armor/barrier).
ME1 gameplay isn't clunky, it's quite realistic and yet, still dynamic and fun. But I'm OFP/ArmA nerd, I'm used to that kind of pace, minus cover (we go prone, not stick to cover

It's more fluid and the cover system isn't as clunky, IMO.
It's not fluid, it's pseudo-faster, because now we wedged into narrow corridors (I don't get it, someone suffering from agoraphobia and topographic cretinism?).
Cover system has her issues. Probably because of "do everything" button.

i really did like the conversations with the crew in both games honestly.
Likewise. Not to mention knowing your crew is one of your tasks as CO.
Character interactions, with proper execution could be one of desserts on the game. Alas, not in this life.

Sorry i have no love for Kaidan
Me neither, but I saved him not for voice, or personality, or unforeseen romance in ME3 (*snorts*
If they wanted to create nightmares, they dropped the ball there too.

Mako or Hammerhead?
Mako. It's more realistic, more challenging (in good way, you have to use your head sometimes not only for wearing hats and eating into), more interesting. Hammerhead missions were like Doom/Quake/Wolfestein deathmatch, all running, dodging, (rocket)jumping. Yeah, yeah, I know it's not Jane's Longbow...
