the theory that some have stated worries me alittle.the one where ppl say that she was only given spectre status so the alliance could have a new flag bearer since shepard is AWOL in ME2 woul suck if it turned out to be true.

tbh if she wasnt promoted due to her skill or beacuse of a previously impossible mission she pulled off at some point in time during her being MIA from shepards squad the spectre status plot would suck.

Sheprd was only given spectre sttus to be the flag bearer fo the alliance. You really think a sole survivor shep is an ideal spectre? tht's more akin to being left alone by a mass muderer that being amazing. Not saying Ash isn't spectacular, but being the poster girl might have something to do it but I don't care. At the end of the day she's a spectre and tht's what matters

idk, getting spectre status that way kindve implies to me that she really didnt earn the tittle it was just given to her for politicle reasons, which in my eyes kindve diminshes the achivement.

politicle reasons were part of why shepard was considered in the first place but also because he himself was a top of the line soldier with a record to prove he was worthy.

EDIT: im out of ash pics that i havent used before so here is a very well done ashley williams medal of honor created by Ares. enjoyPosted Image

Again that'sup in the air, I doubt a woman who survived a thesher maw attack on pure luck as her best career achievement could be an oustanding soldier. Ruthless and War Hero seem like the only sane choices to me since they both have Shepard completing extraordinary achievements,a nd I think she'd say the same.

im guessing its the fact that shepard was able to pull through such horrors and come out intact is what makes her both phsycaly and mentaly worthy to be a spectre.

certainly ashs entire role in ME1s misson would qualify her as a spectre but dose she get enough of the credit hereself to warrant it as her achivement as well as shepards?

I just like that she can go around and do whatever she wants now. (within reason) wouldn't be surprised if this added to her snarkiness, which I adore so much.

I like the alternate armor, it's got the same white plating as her old phoenix armor, but the added dark red/black looks a lot better than the old pink.

Guys, tweet Ash thread reaching 100 pages to the devs. Kaidan's thread just did it too and VS has now combined 206 pages! It should show BW how much these 2 characters are beloved (only Miranda's thread has also over 100 pages apart from Ash and Kaidan!) and how much care should they take of them in ME3 (as in NOT writing them as one VS character!)

bioware wiped out a good portion of my "faith" points themselves after ME2 and horizon.

however with what im hearing about ash so far is starting to slowly build it back up again.im not really worried about anything at this point....but you never know something could happen in the long and slow wait ahead.

Ash question time.

Since Bioware has pushed the game back until march they've had tons of time to add things and they've chosen to add to realtionships. that being said alot of people who haven't played Mass Effect will pick up ME3 and be introduced to the series though it. That being said what's your opinion on Ash being a pursuable romance in ME3 with no prior Me1 or 2 saves on the hard drive/memory unit of the system a new palyer plays on?

If the gamers can take up the relationship in ME3 via the so-called extensive save geneartor/comic that is rumoured for ME3, then I am fine because it assumes the gamer has romanced Ash since ME1.

If it's in ME3 itself, then I would prefer not.  I am afraid of faithful romancers getting screwed with only one or two extra lines of dialogue/allusions to ME1.  Sorry to BioWare, but I don't trust them to make romances that cater to everybody.

If the save generator is in, then there's three chances to romance Ash: ME1, ME2 (Genesis), and ME3.  That's plenty, in my opinion.

I also think, story-wise, it makes sense to not be able to romance Ash in ME3 without having romanced her previously, especially after Horizon.

I won't deny that I'm being selfish, that I want to have my cake and the whole buffet.  But I am hoping for a satisfactory ending to my Ash romance Sheps.

That's an interesting thought; the beauty of these games is making choices that ripple throughout. Heartbraking as Horizon was, it was still recognizing that my Shepard was with her before he died. And the scene before the fight--little as it was, especially compared to the "romance" scenes--recognizing I chose to to resist potential new partners (not that I was all that tempted, but yeah) and was holding out for her.

Still, I'm not sure how practical this is since I don't think there will be many, or any, new party members/potential love interests. Casey said this final installment will be the easiest for newcomers to jump into, and while I can't fathom the idea of someone only playing the third game, they're not just going to leave new players out in the cold.

So I would guess any love interest in the previous two games will be available for newcomers in the third, with the assumption Shepard was single until that point. It sure would be nice if it played out a little different for us, who stuck with Ash from the beginning, but...I can't count on that. At least I'll have my own sense of accomplishment.

OMG!!! keeper Lanaya Williams! "oh warden; my warden".../../../images/forum/emoticons/love.png

Is it really any surprise she's one of the cuter NPCs in that game?

Funny, though...she has the same VO as Ashley, a male "Experienced" Elf Warden has manShep's voice, and then there's Keeper Marethari who, in the first game only, had Chakwas' voice. Coincidence?

Yes...but still!

Also, in regards to that quote...I was playing Awakening and when switching to Sigrun (assuming she's got high approval), she'll sometimes say, "Oh Commander, my Commander."

Someone at Bioware really likes that line.

im wondering how many new players would actually be upset about missing out on a charecter that can be romanced in the first two games but not romanceble in the one they actually have.

would the average gamer even care about it? something to think about imo.

I think it would be a great marketing ploy if Ash isn't romancable for newbies in ME3.

If they want to experience an Ash romance they would have to buy both ME1 and ME2 which could also lead to them buying the various DLCs which means more money for Bioware.

My personal opinion is that Ashley shouldn't be romancable by newbies in ME3.

I played through ME1 and romanced her and stayed faithfull through the horror that was ME2. Now if newbies get the same romance that I would for playing ME1 and ME2 and the same romance payoff that I am getting then that would make me beyond angry.

They would have to write five romances for Ashley to make that work. (s/s with ME1 and ME2 save; s/s without previous save; MShep cheated in ME2; MShep stayed loyal throughout ME1 and ME2; MShep without previous save). I just don't see that happen.

that is a well stated ppint, but I don't think bioware wants people to search up and down for a 4 year old game to get into the story in ME3. Although I completely udnerstand your point it does sound a little elitist. Yes you started to romance in Me1 and continued through 2, so I have I and other people, but again why should someone miss out on Ashley's greatness just becuas ehtey've never heard of Mass Effect until this years E3 or after? That jsut my opinion, but I'd love to see alot more new fans so that we can keep this and other ash threads alive since we know Ashley is awesome, so we should show new fans that she's awesmoe as well, doens't that seem fair?

I see your point ADL. More Ash fans sounds great but do we have to suffer for it?

My train of thought may be way off on this one but it could also be right on track.

Those of us who have stayed with Ashley through good times as well as bad times should get a better relationship with her than a newbie would get in ME3. I admit that it does sound elitist in a way but aren't we entitled to it? We should be getting more than a newbie and a better relationship with Ash in ME3 instead of just a few throwaway lines of dialogue that are different from the romance a newbie would have with her.

Maybe BW is writing several romances for Ashley for that very reason. If so it would be awesome because we would be getting an awesome continuation of our relationship with Ash instead of a rehash of ME1 dialogue.

I hope that BW caters to us long term Ash fans on this one especially after our Ashley romance got sidelined in ME2.

I have faith in BW. I think they've heard the Horizon criticism loud and clear and know not to repeat the same mistake again (writing Ash and Kaidan so similar).

Nothing like a female soldier voiced by a Jedi that spouts poetry to make a space epic come to life. Horizon sucked. Go Ashley.

Why does New fans seem to equal suffering for old fans? No one said anything about suffering! Adding new fans to the fanbase does not mean the old ones have to suffer. Hell even some of these "new fans" have been with ash since the beginning but since they play mostly femshep or only femshep, they can't romance her without mods and even then they might get a shot finally if she's Same Sex. I get the whole "bioware screwed us with Horizon" and "Liara got a DLC, why not the VS?" . So what? The VS is now equally as badass as the protagonist so who cares if they weren't in Mass Effect 2 after horizon. Bioware obviously needed them for the third game and you aren't guarenteed to have them if they can die in the Suicide mission. They've been promoted (again) and they're now a Spectre. you're right it does sound elistist and you can't be elitist withotu looking down at someone, and saying "you just got here so I deserve more than what you get" is no way to keep a fan base healthy and add to it. It's also why I think a NEW romance is better than pressing a button to say you romanced Ashley in ME1 when you ahven't played it because that throws everyone in the same group and would probably confuse the new players instead of Ashley being introduced to them properly instead of having things go over their heads. I'm still not on this "oh I've bene playing since ME1 so if you let new people in you're screwing me over" sentiment some of the fan base have because adding new fans simply does not equal screwing over old fans.
