EDI: Fascinating, Ashley. I need to try that with Joker.
Ashley: It's that easy. Just be nice to him, give him a smile or two and ... yeah. Stay interested, be interesting. All that stuff.
EDI: So how did you get Shepard's attention?
Ashley: Hadn't do that much. Actually, he tried to get my attention. Right after saving me on Eden Prime, he started flirting with me. First I didn't realize it ...
EDI: So he took a subtle route?
Ashley: Not directly. Actually, Skipper's flirting attempts were quite clumsy ... and cute. *snickers* No, seriously: he wasn't that subtle.
EDI: I'm not sure if I understand.
Ashley: Love is something you don't have to understand, EDI. You know when it happens, but you don't understand why it happens.
EDI: "Love is irrational".
Ashley: Yes. You might find out, after all, you're an AI with emotions.
EDI: I'm just imitating emotions, Ashley.
Ashley: So you're "playing" with Joker?
EDI: ... no. I care for Jeff.
Ashley: Why should you care for him? You don't need him as pilot and you don't need friends. Except ... yeah, except you have real emotions. EDI, I'm not an expert here, but I say, you're no longer faking emotions. They're real. And that means you can even experience irrational stuff like love.
EDI: Your argument is valid.
Ashley: See: I don't know exactly why I love Shepard. I just do. And it breaks my heart when thinking about the day he won't be with me anymore. It broke my heart when he died. He means a lot to me. Does Joker mean the same to you?
EDI: ... yes. He's important to me.
Ashley. More than anyone else?
EDI: The crew means a lot to me, but Jeff is special. I know it is ... irrational ... to think like that, but I wish I could separate this body from the Normandy and go on vacation with Jeff, at least for a while. I don't want to be a warship all time. I want to be ... human. For Jeff.
Ashley: That's love, EDI.
EDI: It's fascinating. Thank you, Ashley.
Ashley: You're welcome, EDI. Talk to me whenever you want, hmm?

it's the "red" ending (destruction). In the "blue" ending (control), EDI and the Geth live.
All endings come with a downside - even if ignoring the fact, Shepard always dies in 2 out 3 endings.

Destruction: most likely end of Geth & EDI - except the starchild lies.
Synthesis: changing ALL organic life and killing diversity
Control: Who says Shepard can control them forever and the cycle ended?

Should I be the one to go out of my way and say that the endings "pissed me off so much that it made me change my Avatar to a shooting Ash animation in an attempt to kill it"?

Meh. It may offend Wrex fans, if you ask me, but can totally understand you. However, I wonder how those endings will play out after applying the "Ending DLC" in summer. Hope there's some closure for Ash & Shepard included (or any other LI).

That's strange sarcasm. At least those people I know personally employ sarcasm differently. Yes, I know, formally Tali and Liara are aliens, but, c'mon.

Keep in mind this is only speculation on my part, trying to understand why this might be happening. Ashley's email says something like, "But I'm not who I was then, and neither are you," so that might imply a clean break, but it conflicts with the awkwardness between her and Tali. It's just my guess that she might feel that she took the opportunity to advance on Shepard. And I've never been in this situation myself, but I gather dating a friend's ex is... a bit tricky.

I never received "Dear John" letters, only seen those send to guys from my platoon, as well as heard "explanatorium of dumping" when I was notified that I'm "good friend, but relations fell into stagnation" , so it's difficult for me to judge.
IMHO there is missing chance in ME2 to talk or pen-pal (sort of) with Ashley second time, to clarify existing situation.
Or maybe it's just blow-out valve test, whether you as Shepard just give up, and imagine it's never happened, or take this as capital offence and consider yourself free of obligations.
And friend's ex... It's more dangerous then minesweeping in blizzard.

I've tried to instigate Wrex shooting me, and it's never happened. I assume it's because I always get his armor, though it might be a combination of that and high charm/intimidate. It's...funny, really, that people get so furious about the death of a chatacter that they claim to love, yet are unwilling to go that extra mile for.

Well, it seems I wrote that part badly if you didn't understood me the way I supposed you should.
I never experienced that scene myself, even when I sent Shepard on Virmire early (I played with friend's game and saves, he couldn't beat Hardcore/Insanity himself), even there Charm skill was adequate.
I just don't get meaning of that scene, regardless of probabilities of it's development. Not, I'm not going to quote Saint Crispin's Day speech, just there are some things I don't understand at all. Wish to kill comrade in arms is one of them. Or undeveloping communicative skills, if they made distinct appearance in game, as well as knowing your crew and maintain proper morale and bond among them. So when I see how someone wants to kill specific team-mate it is one of WTF  moments for me.

But maybe it's just me - old-tymer guy from dinosaurs epoch: sitting in Ashley's thread withoutat least one own save with her alive post Virmire.

I always took the Tali/Ash snippyness as a combination of jealousy and possessiveness even if you don't romance either. Let me try to explaine.

You have Tali, who you know has a crush on you and has stood by your side through thick and thin. Then you have Ashley who you may (or may not) have had a romance with. Who, it seems at least briefly, turned their back on you the moment they found out you were working with Cerberus. (Tali found out but joined forces anyway) Then everything goes to hell and your Shepard accepts Ashley back as if ME2 didn't happen (Tali's eyes not our reality) I could see some serious resentment from Tali to Ashley. One of those "where were you" sort of things.

So I could see Tali snippy even if you don't romance her. Especially if you are a MShep. FemShep is a hero worshihp thing at most, MShep is a crush added to hero worship.

been playing a bit lately trying to build up credits for unlocks but I think the US has resurgence unlocked now but europe has to wait until tommorow :*-(

I hope so too, since each of my 4 Sheps has a different LI. Jennifer & Daniel are in relationships with ME3 squaddies (Liara & Ash respectively), but Thomas & Sarah aren't (or in Sarah's case won't be). They're with Miranda and eventually Samantha. 

EDIT: Btw, I got Daniel through ME2 yesterday and it got difficult near the end since I never saw or spoke to Ash other than on Horizon (which admittedly stung a bit, even though I knew better than to ask her to join me).

It's on Xbox but nowhere else. The Europe thing is for PS3 only. There's a post from Bioware saying that an internal server went down which has messed things up.

These past few months haven't gone well for Bioware, lol!

Ah I did see that but saw reports from other players that is was working they must be xbox live players - add cf47_dan on origin for me, I don't play a lot but if I do fire up ME3 its only multiplayer I am doing currently

at least until the summer when I hope Ash gets closure :-D
