Why does New fans seem to equal suffering for old fans? No one said anything about suffering! Adding new fans to the fanbase does not mean the old ones have to suffer. Hell even some of these "new fans" have been with ash since the beginning but since they play mostly femshep or only femshep, they can't romance her without mods and even then they might get a shot finally if she's Same Sex. I get the whole "bioware screwed us with Horizon" and "Liara got a DLC, why not the VS?" . So what? The VS is now equally as badass as the protagonist so who cares if they weren't in Mass Effect 2 after horizon. Bioware obviously needed them for the third game and you aren't guarenteed to have them if they can die in the Suicide mission. They've been promoted (again) and they're now a Spectre. you're right it does sound elistist and you can't be elitist withotu looking down at someone, and saying "you just got here so I deserve more than what you get" is no way to keep a fan base healthy and add to it. It's also why I think a NEW romance is better than pressing a button to say you romanced Ashley in ME1 when you ahven't played it because that throws everyone in the same group and would probably confuse the new players instead of Ashley being introduced to them properly instead of having things go over their heads. I'm still not on this "oh I've bene playing since ME1 so if you let new people in you're screwing me over" sentiment some of the fan base have because adding new fans simply does not equal screwing over old fans.tomas2377 wrote...
I see your point ADL. More Ash fans sounds great but do we have to suffer for it?
My train of thought may be way off on this one but it could also be right on track.
Those of us who have stayed with Ashley through good times as well as bad times should get a better relationship with her than a newbie would get in ME3. I admit that it does sound elitist in a way but aren't we entitled to it? We should be getting more than a newbie and a better relationship with Ash in ME3 instead of just a few throwaway lines of dialogue that are different from the romance a newbie would have with her.
Maybe BW is writing several romances for Ashley for that very reason. If so it would be awesome because we would be getting an awesome continuation of our relationship with Ash instead of a rehash of ME1 dialogue.
I hope that BW caters to us long term Ash fans on this one especially after our Ashley romance got sidelined in ME2.
As long as we (old fans) get a different kind of romance with Ashley than the new fans.
I can understand your viewpoint. Part of me agrees with you whole heartedly but a selfish spark in me takes over when it comes to my favorite romance.
I don't want to rehash ME1 type romance with Ashley in ME3 so that newbies get to have a romance with her. Build, Build, Build, Build, romance scene before last mission. That was ME1! We "old fans" should be getting a different romance than the newbies because we already got to know her and already fell in love with Ashley. Therefore we should get a romance continuation and not a repeat.
Furthermore newbies shouldn't get the same conclusion to the romance that we should get (i.e. marriage etc.).
That is all that I am trying to bring across. Considering the fact that english isn't my native language I can understand that I may sound a little rude or pushy from time to time.
