I must admit, it sucked that she didn't take part in Normandy banter or move around like the other characters. Hell, even Javik moved around, and he's DLC. It really does feel like BioWare didn't know what to do with her anymore after the coup on the Citadel.

Technically, Javik wasn't DLC. He was originally intended to be in-game without having to pay or download anything. Then EAWare decided to milk this game for all of its worth.

Ash's romance felt well paced though, and it's pretty straightforward if she was your LI and you were faithful. It feels like a real couple having real problems but getting over them together by realising what they mean to each other. The love scene to me I think captured exactly the relationship between the two. Taking and giving strength and comfort to each other.

Indeed it was. And that's what I admired about her in-game.

All in all, I'm satisfied by their story arc. ME3 didn't quite nail it like I think we all hoped, but it came pretty darn close. I hope the Extended Cut clarifies all the sticky end points and at least lets us know what happens to Ash, especially if she survives.

Eh, Priority: Earth took a turn for the worst imo (lack of war assets in-game fighting) and it only got worse after Harby's beam knocked you out. But yes, I'm hoping that this Extended Cut will fill in the void Mas Effect 3 created. And I especially hope that these rumors I'm hearing about reuniting with the Normandy crew are going to be true.

Ashley is and always will be worth it.

Just be glad Model!Harbinger wasn't in the skit. Lol. He would have been much harder to hide. And come on. I've always pictured that Shepard had just a slightly playful, maybe even childish side to him. The renegade 'THERE'S A BOMB!' scene, and playfully teasing Ash throughout ME1 leap to mind.

Oh, and I was checking out the tropes page for Shepard. Apparently, he's (in verse) genius level of inteligence, if not that, then very close. Kind of fits with how I portayed mine. Jon-Mal was something of a closet-genius, but that story arc's erased.
 
Only things I'm keeping from that are the tatts(the celtic/latin ones), the dad and the Ash.

My money is, with the hero worship he gets for Elysium, there's really not a lot of room for close relationships. Sure he may have slept around a bit when he was younger, but I don't think he's really had a serious relationship. At least not for a long time come ME1.

I'd rather Shepard have parents. He's been through enough sh!t through the series, we don't need to add parental abandonment to the list (granted colonist, your parents were murdered, but that's not the point).

I always go with spacer I like the idea of him having parents both in the navy which instils his sense of duty but thats the good thing about ME the customisation or at least until ME3.

By the way, is there anywhere any data on Shepard's father, in case of Spacer background?

Also, not sure that "war hero" background = not ready for serious relationship. Of course, I don't know anyone who was alone VS 10K of opponents (not really possible), but I know enough young, modest, if not shy and relatively famous people.

So I wouldn't turn "heroic" Shepard into some light-headed "music star".

They never mention his father only his mother who has a voice only role in ME1, an email in ME2 and is mentioned by Hackett in ME3

I created a father for Shepard in one of my backstories - Admiral Malcolm Kaine. Shepard was the result of a one-night stand, but his birth parents marry later in his mid-childhood. The father was very military, always treated Shepard like a subordinate rather than a son, but geniunely loved him. That note changes drastically when Shepard does the 'come back from the dead' act, their relationship improves immensely afterwards.

But in verse, its implied the father is dead. Or he's disappeared... my honest opinion, Shepard's in lore father was a deadbeat dad. Got Hannah pregnant then ran off.
