I honestly can't see her having a civilian job I think if she retired she would still stay in the miliatry as an instructor or trainer etc. She couldn't work in an office and I don't think she could be a full time housewife

I couldnt see her as a teacher or anything.... would be cute though ^_^

Not exactly sure how etiquette goes on this thread so forgive me if I'm wrangling the conversation in a different direction.

I wanted to share my thoughts on the final moments with Ashley in ME3.

As a small preface, I only completed the game once, as I can't bring myself to go through it again right now.

Anyways, that last conversation. I don't remember much, but what I do hit me like a kick to the chest. Ashley's statement, "I don't want you to go...". is when it really sunk in for me; "This is it" (spoilers be damned).
The delivery of that line felt really authentic. I heard the trembling in her voice. Much to the credit of Ash's voice actress, Kimberly Brooks.

"God**** it", I thought. "There's not going to be any resolution to this. This IS the resolution."
- No "victory dance" ala "Independence Day".
- No retirement.
- No wedding.
- No kids.
- No future.

While that may be all fine & good for reality, as that **** happens every day, it sure as hell didn't seem fair for Ash specifically. She lost her love once. She was with him just moments before he died. Now she must relegate herself to the fact that "Death closes all..." AGAIN.

Pretty unnecessarily cruel, if you ask me.

Agreed! <_<

Ash as a teacher. Man... I think I'd be kind of afraid to misbehave in that class.

I was thinking that if she left the military, she might go into something like law enforcement or a private security force. Honestly, I do think she'd make a good police officer.

After they spend some time together, I think my Shepard would encourage her to continue her career as a Spectre. In the short term, Shep will always be on Intai'sei, waiting for her to come back. Medium term, Shep will probably get tired of sitting around himself. Might try to take a more diplomatic role, seeing how important a symbol he'd be - put some work into making sure everything works out with the quarians and the geth, the krogan, the new political situation. So, that would be a lot of traveling, and they'd see each other a little less, but they'd still make sure they have time together. Sometimes I guess Ash could come along to provide extra security, but I think Shepard would encourage her to try to develop her career in roles that don't involve him.

Long term, I see Ash as the type that would want kids. Not something my Shepard has ever thought much about, but with Ash he could see himself doing that. At that point, they'd probably both settle down a little more, though probably not somewhere as remote as Intai'sei.

You know, it occurs to me that their kids would be under a great deal of pressure.

Talk about high expectations: "Both of your parents were Spectres who played a pivitol role in stopping the Reaper invasion. What are YOU going to do with YOUR life?"

this is why I would probably have them be living in a small colony type world. Like growing up in a small town, not as much preasure.

no no no, Ashley is never going to just leave the alliance. Hackett is going to give her a ship and a crew, she will be Commander Williams, kicking azz and taking name, and stopping rogue spectre from allying with rogue synthetics. (In the control ending)

Ash has family on Amaterasu. Family seems important to her, so it's possible that if she and Shep were going to settle down, they might do it there.

My Shepard (colonist war hero) doesn't have any family of his own left, so he wouldn't object to settling on Amaterasu, if Ash wanted. Probably they wouldn't stay on Intai'sei to raise a family because it's a little too remote for that. It's mostly useful as their personal hide-away.

At some point in life, you can no longer be part of the shore party. Age will get to ya, and unless this is star trek it wouldn't usually make sence for the CO of the ship to always go ashore.

Haha, true, but it looks like when Commander Shepard attended the Alliance Naval Academy, he skipped the class on task delegation.

Yes, I like her new look, but I also like her new attitude. Her competence on Mars, the quote about "breaking the Williams curse", her take-charge attitude with the council...

Sorry, can't help but laughing. Not on your words of course - on ME3. It's not "VS competence on Mars", it's authors' incompetence. Not Shepard's - he is just character, authors. I'm not only about transmitter (although I disregard that idea, actually, I'll explain later) - also about cameras at Grissom. What, no common sense, especially from LtCdr, N7? Is he really LtCdr N7?
And speaking of transmitters - what, Cerberus troops all have one voice (well, practically they do, but somehow I don't think "integration" ruins their vocal chords) and no unit cohesion and interaction? C'mon, it's one of basics - know you "neighbors", just for cases like this, to prevent someone patching into your network and wrecking havoc, via "friendly fire", giving mutually exclusive orders or interrupting your actions in some other way.
Moreover, Tramline was sabotaged, but! Cerberus gallantly sending welcoming committee in another tram? Sorry, I can't help but lol'ing here. Just seal the doors and that's all. I guess getting out of tram and moving on mounts (yeah, rails could be live) could be an option. Or "get through interference" and call Vega - still less WTFing than what we have.
Not sure how it is called, "suspension of disbelief" or not, but I "do not believe that".
Yes, it has little to do with Ash, just I don't like amount of such "dumbed down" and ill-thought moments. There are just too many of them for me to ignore them. Yeah, I know there are maybe just five of us. Image IPB

It's what I always loved about Tali: She's smart, capable, but thoroughly feminine. Tali, and now Ashley, are proof that women don't have to be butch to be strong.

Not sure what "butch" means, because for those meanings I know... *sniff*"implications unpleasant". Image IPB

VA_FyreHeart wrote...

I guess I'm one of those weird men who's attracted to strong, confident women. ;)

I see no problems with attraction toward strong and confident, I have problems with way they portraiting strong and confident. And everyone else.
But, like I said, I'm one of few who mostly disliked most of ME3, so there are too many moments I don't want to ignore anymore. Maybe because I don't have neither interesting story to enjoy, nor good gameplay.

Who the hell is he?

Regarding endings (since I'm not sure whom to quote... Probably I'm somewhat in peace at Shepard's demise (there were a way too many hints on that), but definitely not the way he was "demised". And no, I'm not pro-ender, I certainly dislike it, but don't concentrate my attention on them, because I think there are far more greater problems in ME3 besides ending.

Justin Bieber is a plot by the Canadians to get revenge on United States for all the jokes American made about Maple Syrup, Hockey and Newfoundland.

Oh no, no, no, no. TNS recruited you as his substitute to spread "Word of Pancake"?
Have some mercy - I haven't seen my SO for days, haven't taken shower for same time, sleep in clothes in collapsible bunk at my work, eat military rations which expired before I was born and work on contract with less meaning than ME3 ending!
No, No, no. No Ash, no pancakes, only long non-stopping ranting "how bioware killed our beloved Ash, part deux, series 67, episode 4, season 11".

SUBSTITUTE, Did TNS write a whole dialog series on Ashley and pancakes. I think not. someone has to be the mastermind of the master mind.

I'm not arguing this topic, ME3 is actually pretty good
